Union’s Philamlee named among GSC’s Top Ten Award winners

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Union University's Amy Philamlee is among the 10 student-athletes from the entire Gulf South Conference in the 19th annual GSC Top Ten Award. These awards, based on athletic, academic and extracurricular achievement during the 2014-15 academic year, recognize the top five male and top five female student-athletes as the cream of the GSC crop. The top male and female receive the Commissioner's Trophy, the Conference's most prestigious honor.
 
Philamlee, a 5-foot-5 guard from Jonesboro, Ark., represents Union for this honor in the school's first year of eligibility for the award. She led all of NCAA DII in scoring in 2014-15 with 24.7 points per game. She was also second in the nation with 7.9 assists per game. Philamlee also ranked No. 1 in the GSC in six  statistical categories including assist-turnover ratio (2.10), assists per game (7.9), FG% (.537), FT% (.885), points per game (24.7), 3PT% (.410), and second 3-pointers made per game (2.13). Philamlee was named Division II women's basketball national player of the week once, GSC Player of the Week five times, and Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week four time. She was also named GSC All-Tournament, GSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, South Region All-Tournament and South Region Tournament Most Outstanding Player. In addition to her numerous on court contributions, Philamlee was named a GSC All-Academic performer and was listed on the GSC Honor Roll. She is very active in the community both with her team and individually. She has also traveled overseas on mission trips three different times.
