Auburn Baseball Falls 3-2 to College of Charleston in NCAA Regional

Nick Pappas proved to be the Tigers' worst enemy once again.

After hitting a home run in the Cougars' victory over Auburn on Friday, he hit two home runs for the Cougars on Sunday evening. Those were two of the Cougars four total hits. The solo home run in the second off Dalton Rentz and then two-run home run in the 7th off Robby Clements were the only runs scored by the Cougars.

Those were the only runs they would need. Following the first Pappas home run, Auburn answered with runs in the fourth and fifth innings. That was all the Tigers could get, though, as they would strand runners throughout the game and could never get back ahead.

Rentz, Clements, and then Izaac Yarbrough all combined for a very well-pitched game. The Tigers just couldn't overcome those two Pappas home runs. It was the story of the season. When the bats were working, as they were on Friday, the pitching was allowing hits. When the pitching looked pretty good, the bats just couldn't get them the runs needed.

Still, the Tigers did make it to the Regional. They even won a game over Mercer and had excellent chances to win the two games against the Cougars. They did this for the most part without the services of ace Keegan Thompson.

As with Softball, we'll have a little more of a review on the Tigers' season later this week. For now, the season is over, and the Tigers begin the offseason preparing to build off this year and make it back to the post season in the future.
