This was definitely a sweet story by a first time author. The writing was nice, there is a love triangle and which is most likely the reason why I kept reading. I had to know who the heroine would end up with. I felt the story was very detailed and wordy...a lot of inner dialogue. Also, the back and forth bantering between the characters just didn't seem effortless. I liked how the heroine was a size 12, she didn't have the best self esteem but she managed to have two very attractive men interested in her. I found the first half to be a bit slow, but the last 20% it got a bit better.

This is the first book by this author and although this one didn't wow me I have the feeling the best is yet to come from M.E. Gordon. So I'll definitely be on the lookout for future books.

Chuck and Teddy Monroe have lived in the spotlight ever since they took over their parents business. Their little sister however, has always avoided it. Elizabeth has her heart set on working at the Library of Congress. That’s why she’s going to college in DC after all instead of back in New York. She craves the quiet happiness that only books can give her, and she has it until two men enter her life and turn it into pure chaos. Soon Elizabeth’s heart is torn between them, a well-known playboy and a supposedly quiet photographer. The media are closing in fast and Elizabeth doesn’t know who to trust. There are some pretty big decisions to make, and no one can make them but her.

M. E. Gordon’s premiere work goes all out. Elizabeth is a delightful character, who embodies exactly how the average woman would react when faced with this situation. No stone is left unturned as Miss Monroe tries to figure out who she wants, and who she can’t live without. The character development is excellent. I felt like I had a good idea of who everyone was in Beth’s life before everything hit the fan, and that definitely helped me make sense of the chaos that was going on due to the dual suitors. As this is a romance, I would be remise if I didn’t mention the more ‘heated’ moments, and I think they were done wonderfully. Not too long and not too short, and they added to the storyline and the character building. The mystery element is done very well. After every twist I thought I had it figured out when BAM! something new would crop up that would totally change my mind. When I finally reached the end, I was exhausted (in a good way!), and begging for more.

Based on how it ended, I really hope Gordon writes a sequel (or two, or three). The characters are so rich and layered that I can imagine each of them having their own story to tell, and I would love to read them. My rating is definitely a full five stars.

This book was just released at the end of August, and Gordon was nice enough to send me an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) so I could review it. I do not accept payment of any kind for any of my reviews.

I was given this book in in exchange for an honest review.

New author, first book written!? I could not tell at all. This book is full of detail , characters are all exceptionally written and have many layers.
In this book you are not only getting romance ( a unique story at that) but you also get a bit of mystery.
Did I mention love triangle ? Not one, you get two! Both are very tastefully and well written.
I am still not sure how I feel about Simon or Spencer , and that is a good thing. I was so wrapped up in the story as it was very easy to "get attached " to them both. Both are secretive, both love Beth and show it differently.
Beth is loveable and easy to identity with as well. She has had her share of loss, and has some major self esteem issues. With that she is also has confidence in some areas and is a great character.
I was a little disappointed in the ending , as it was a bit of a cliffhanger. That aside this really is a wonderfully written book, one I highly recommend.
I wholeheartedly look forward to seeing more from this author.

"I like the name Belle. You love books and you’re beautiful. I would be honored to be your Beast, so long as I turn into the prince at the end,” he said as his warm eyes met mine."

Hm...this is starting to become a habit. I'm at the fifty percent mark and I'm very undecided about how I feel for the book. I cannot for the life of me get on board with any of the male leads. They both are very dull and boring. Elizabeth is pretty quirky and fun; I don't really identify with her, but I like her character well enough. So far, the only thing that's keeping me reading is wanting to know what Spencer and Simon are hiding. I hope the story picks up soon.

“I told you, Belle, you are a beauty.”

*finishes book*

“Now!” he spit, as he moved closer to me. “Choose now!” he growled.

Okay, the last fifty percent of the book was MUCH better. But I still don't care for any of the male leads. Well, I like Beth's brothers, too bad we don't have a story with their pov! They're so much more interesting than Simon and Spencer. It's very rare for me to be unable to care for the heroes of the book. I just couldn't find any redeeming quality about either guy.

But if I had to choose...if would probably be Simon. He seems the most genuine with his feelings regarding Elizabeth.

"If I choose Spencer, I would crush Simon. If I started over with Simon, then I finally had to put Spencer to rest for good, forever."

Elizabeth is the insecure yet witty heroine of Torn Hearts. She's not what society would call your 'average' girl; being a size twelve and all. Which in my opinion is bogus...whether you're size zero or size fourteen, every woman is beautiful. Fuck society and their twisted views on beauty. Anyways, Beth's life is about to change the moment she meets two gorgeous men that give her the attention she's never thought she deserved.

Then starts a whirlwind romance between a cryptic photographer and the mysterious billionaire who plays a lot of f'n head games. The media has a field day when they catch Beth and Spencer in some compromising meetings that are more than meets the eye. The whole world believes this "fairy-tale" media filled romance, will Beth crack and find herself believing it as well? Does Spencer really want to get to know her? Or is he just messing with her head and heart?

I knew exactly what was going on since the beginning of the book. It's not hard to guess what's going to happen. I'll admit the last paragraph really surprised the crap out of me. It definitely shows more to come because I can't imagine the author leaving the story on that note. Overall, I liked the book enough to continuing to finish but it's not one that I would want to read again.

I think Elizabeth would do well to just say no to both guys and leave it at that. She's wonderful all on her own, she just needs to have the confidence and to believe in herself.

2.5 Stars

I want to start this review by Congratulating M.E Gordon on writing a fantastic debut novel “Torn Hearts”. This book is a love triangle with a lot of hot mess between, a not so social socialite Elizabeth Monroe , a mysterious billionaire Spencer Salvatore and a charming photographer Simone. It will drive you crazy with a lot of sizzling hot drama and amazing humor. This book kind-of absorbs you and gives you a book hangover. I absolutely loved it and still hungover.

5 MOOD STARS !!!

Elizabeth Monroe ! her life was simple with a goal to be a librarian. She was beautiful and voluptuous with all the right curves, yet she always underestimated herself. She was self critical of her body and never thought she would get a man of her dreams. One fine night as fate would have it, her path collided with not just one but two men (Spencer Salvatore and Simon) shattering her belief that she was a wall flower.

Spencer Salvatore ! HOT HOT and FILTHY DIRTY HOT or you can simply say Salvatore God with mesmerising blue eyes was a mysterious billionaire, who is working on a joint venture with Elizabeth’s brother. Elizabeth is mysteriously pulled towards him, but her heart and mind are torn between his hot and cold behaviour towards her. Together they share a spontaneous passionate chemistry.

On the other hand Simon ! A sandy haired, good looking, hotshot photographer is charming and sweeps Elizabeth off her feet. As love has its own mysterious ways of working, Elizabeth shares a fiery chemistry with Simon as well.

Both men are hiding something, but their secrets will be revealed !

Torn between the two men!!!  Find out who she chooses?

First off I would like to point out that I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. How gorgeous is that cover?? I'm in love with it, and can't wait to add a copy to my bookshelf.

This book is so relatable. We all have insecurities about ourselves, and with Elizabeth she's insecure about the fact she's a size 12. To her she's just frumpy and nothing special. So when a sexy photographer & billionaire bachelor start giving her attention she can't believe it. That doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy every second of it all. Simon is super sweet and beyond easy to talk to, time just flies. However with Spencer there is so much electricity you could power all of New York City! She can sense when Spencer is in the same room. So does she go for the guy that's safe? Or does she take a chance on getting her heart hurt by the guy she shouldn't have a time of day with? From the moment she met them both, her life was never the same.

Now what did I love about Torn Hearts? I loved the fact it is so relatable to a lot of the insecurities we feel ourselves. It grips you from the very beginning, and you'll be left turning page after page trying to figure out what will happen next. There is the perfect amount of angst, romance, sexy time, suspense, & comedy. It's a great and easy read. For this being Gordon's first book, I have to say BRAVO! You did a phenomenal job, and I look forward to reading more of your work.

Now characters. The main lady Elizabeth I will admit frustrated me at times, but for the most part I loved her. Her brothers Teddy and Charles were great. I loved how protective and real they were. Reminded me a lot of my older brother. :) Spencer was swoon worthy. Simon on the other hand as sweet as he was, there was just something about him that had me questioning his motives at every turn. Her best friend Gia was great, and reminded me a lot of my best friend. Which is always a plus.

So overall I have to say I give it 5+ stars

Pick up your copy today, and give it a read.

New author alert and let me tell you this author brings it. The author keeps you hooked from the beginning of this book. It's a book that will have your emotions going different directions but you will feel them! I really enjoyed this book and was sad to see it end. One of my faves for this year.

Elizabeth (Beth) has never really had to deal with guys, not by choice but due to her size a lot of guys just skip over her. She soon finds herself in a love triangle with a sexy photographer & millionaire bachelor. She doesn't know who to pick and which one is being real. She has a tough decision to make.

Elizabeth, Simon & Spencer will take you a journey that will keep you on your toes. You get to see how each one interacts and what the guys will do to get Beth. There are plenty of secrets and mysteries going on but in the end it will all be revealed. This book has so much love in it, you can feel it. The chemistry is hot & steamy. I loved both Simon & Spencer but in the end Spencer won me over.

I highly recommend this book. Great job to the author on an amazing book!

Debut novel?!?! I would never have guessed this was a debut novel! It was extremely well written, the story flowed and kept you interested right from the very beginning!! I mean come on, who doesn't love a love triangle, the angst, the heartbreak, all the feels! But one that's riveting with hot swoon worthy men and an arrogant curvy stubborn woman, that's where it's at!!! I loved all the characters and M.E made them all so down to earth and relatable! I highly recommend this book to every person out there who loves a good love triangle! I'm seriously hoping there is going to be a sequel and maybe a couple books about the brothers (please ;)) M. E Gordon is definitely now one of my go to authors and I will be awaiting her new releases!

Torn Hearts is a roller coaster ride of emotions. Elizabeth Monore is the girl in the middle of it all and I love that she is dealing with some real life self esteem issues. NOT EVERY GIRL IS A SIZE 2! and I think it's refreshing that the author has written a story that most women can relate to. Plus the guys are hot the romance is sizzling and the humor is right on! ~This is a must read!

Torn Hearts by M.E. Gordon
5 star review

Reviewed on behalf of 2 girls who love books blog.

I loved this book! As soon as I read the synopsis I couldn’t wait to get reading. There were some great characters in this book and I loved reading their stories! The book is about Elizabeth who finds herself in a love triangle with two super-hot men, Simon and Spencer. Simon is a photographer and Spencer is a millionaire bachelor!
The whole time that I was reading this book I couldn’t decide who I actually wanted Elizabeth to end up with! Simon was kind hearted, showered her with compliments by Spencer was just insanely hot and their attraction was pretty obvious! There was a great twist at the end of the story which I imagine will lead nicely into book 2!

I loved Beth! Sometimes it can get a bit boring reading about beautiful, skinny female characters so Beth’s character was a breath of fresh air for me! I loved that through having the attention of these two men she started to see herself as beautiful regardless of her size! I could feel myself getting angry at some of the things said to her especially by the paparazzi! She is one of my favourite female leads in a story so far this year!

It wasn’t until I finished this book that I realised it was the authors debut novel and I have to say I thought it was an outstanding one! This is definitely an author to watch out for!

I am excited to read book 2 in the series now and find out what Beth is going to do!

Torn Hearts by M.E. Gordon was a 5 star read.
Romance, two Hot Alpha’s

description

He was just standing there like a beautiful sculpture. Slowly he turned, leaving from sight, but his image was burned into my mind.

My heart was Torn with this read.

Blurb:
A tale as old as time—a girl, tall and wispy, hair the color of the sun, eyes as blue as the sky, caught in a love triangle with the noblest of men…Not in this book, honey!

Okay so maybe I am caught up in a love triangle, but I’m sure as hell not running through a field of daisies in a sun dress. My name is Elizabeth and I’ve managed to avoid men for most of my life. I wasn’t a nun by any means, but I know what the hot guys want—and it usually isn’t me. How I got myself involved in a love triangle with one sexy photographer and a millionaire bachelor, who had women worshiping the ground he walked on, is beyond me. Yet, here I am, attempting to navigate waters that I’ve never expected to. Trying to figure out which man was right for me, dealing with my family—and have I told you about the paparazzi? Well, it’s all really making me rethink the situation. Who do I trust? Who’s being genuine? What should I do if both men are perfect for me in different ways? How the hell am I supposed to choose just one? Or better yet do I have to choose just one?

We find a very insecure Elizabeth getting caught up in a love triangle with a photographer-Simon and a billionaire-Spencer who is partners with her brothers.

We have Spencer who seems to have a possessive nature when it comes to Elizabeth but never seems to act on his feelings, which is very confusing for Elizabeth. When she is in Spencer’s presence her heart rate speeds up and her attraction escalates Simon on the other hand is there and hands on, he is easy to talk to and very attentive, which makes it harder for her. When Simon has to leave for work for several weeks we get to see a little more of Spencer and all I have to say is WOW. The sex scenes were perfectly written, you could feel the heat radiating off of them.
Who is Beth going to choose and is it the right choice?

I was on the edge of my seat reading this book. I was a little bothered that a size 12 is considered a large woman and loved how both Spencer and Simon would try to stomp out her insecurities. I couldn’t help but think that there was more to Simon than meets the eye. And the triangle that was also starting with her brothers Chuck and Teddy and her best friend Gia was great.

Was a gut feeling, fate, an undeniable attraction enough? I had no idea, but I sure as hell wasn’t going down without a fight.

M.E. Gordon really captures you right from the start. Your heart pounds right along with Beth’s and you find yourself choosing right alonger with her. This is not a stand alone, we find out in the epilogue that it seems to be just getting started. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next. Thank you for a great read and I can’t wait to see more from all of these great characters.

This book left me torn as the title suggest. I am not a big fan of love triangles. I often find myself not bonding with one or more of the characters because I don’t like the way a character is being treated or I am ambivalent about who I want to be with whom. From the beginning I was team Spencer and but yet found him and Elizabeth to often times be a confusing and frustrating couple. The push and pull between Elizabeth and the two devastatingly handsome Spencer and Simon was just a little too much.

Elizabeth was very insecure to the of point of being annoying. We totally get that she is heavier than she would like but by the end of the story, it was rather redundant. She also seemed very fickle, one minute all she could think about was Simon then Spencer would appear and she would obsess over him. The relationship between her brothers and her Gran shined throughout the story and I fell in love with their bond to one another.

Simon with his surfer good looks, his sexy and sensitive side, was cute but paled in comparison with Spencer. I did love the way he called Elizabeth Belle but that is where the attraction ended for me. I had a more friendly feeling and less of a want to jump his bones vibe. Spencer was off the charts hot, commanding, frustrating, and mysterious. His and Elizabeth’s chemistry was explosive and I was giddy with excitement when they were together. I found myself chanting under my breath…we need more Spencer!

M. E. Gordon wrote a unique, heart pounding, love story that had an edge of mystery. She left me guessing the direction that the next book would take and wishing for more story from Simon’s point of view. I highly recommend to readers who enjoy love triangles, steam, with mystery thrown in the mix. Elizabeth, Spencer, and Simon are entertaining, intriguing, and hot!

This was a fantastic book and Torn Hearts is the perfect title for it. I was literally torn throughout the whole entire book. Elizabeth isn’t a very social person. She is shy, quiet, and mostly tries to stay out of the limelight. Elizabeth has some issues with her looks but she doesn’t realize how truly beautiful she is. Elizabeth’s brothers already take up most of the spotlight so Elizabeth likes to keep a low profile until she is right in the center of it all.

Elizabeth is torn between two men Simon and Spencer. Simon is sweet, caring, compassionate, and always catering to Elizabeth’s ever need. But his job is always in the way. He always has to leave for certain reasons and at times Simon seemed a little fishy too me and I could never fully trust him but I also loved him too.

Spencer is the mysterious millionaire. He is bossy, arrogant, and cocky but I loved him right form the get go. Spencer pops in and out of Elizabeth’s life but there is a story there and I don’t want to ruin anything. Let’s just say I am team Spencer.

There are a lot of twists and turns throughout the book. At times, all three characters Elizabeth, Simon, and Spencer pissed me off. I was so torn between both men I wanted to scream. Then the ending shocked me even more and left me completely speechless. I honestly can’t wait for book 2!

Elizabeth Monroe is used to hiding in the background. Letting her brothers take on all the spotlight themselves. Elizabeth for the most part is a character that was very easy to relate to. My only problem with her, was I felt she was a little over the top with her weight issues. First a size 12 isnt that large. And second is how she is a little too back and forth. One minute she talks about how she jogs and is ok with herself. Then literally next minute saying theres no way a hot guy could lust for her because of her imperfections.
Then move to Simon. He is a very sweet down to earth guy. It is very obvious he is not telling "Belle" (his nickname for Beth) something. And you cant help but wait for that shoe to fall.... There are a couple of times where he tries. But there is always an interruption.
And last but definitely not least comes in Spencer. OMG Spencer. You can almost feel the spark thru the pages. Several times I was sure my husband could see sparks flying from my device. But yet again, something is off. He is back and forth. WAY to hot and cold. One minute hes telling Beth he cant stop thinking of her then hes no where to be seen. For weeks. Beth has a huge decision to make. Does she choose safe and secure with a secret? Or hot and electric, yet also distant?
This is a MAJOR cliffhanger. You will have to read book 2.

This story had all the makings to be something great, but a few things fell short for me.

I love that the female lead, Elizabeth, isn't cookie cutter. She is a size 12 and has a lot of insecurities. She is used to being the sidekick and not the lead character. That all changes when she catches the eye of two men.... one being the most eligible bachelor and another being a member of the paparazzi. Can you guess where this is going? I'm disappointed that I guessed exactly what was happening, right from the start.

Elizabeth has a LOT of internal dialogue. Some of it was witty, but then it got to be overkill. I kept hoping that some of her insecurities would melt away, but they were very repetitive.

Simon and Spencer are the two men after Elizabeth's heart. I just wish one of them was more likable. Spencer came across extremely cold and just odd. Simon came across very clingy (which is revealed why later) and untrustworthy.

The one thing that kept me reading was wanting to know everyone's secrets. Both men have them, but not all is revealed. I got to the end and was slightly disappointed. This is not a standalone book, so you'll have to wait for book 2 to get all the answers.

I really enjoyed reading this one. Elizabeth (Beth) stays out of the limelight while her brothers are always in it. Her brothers Charles (Chuck) and Teddy are great brothers. I loved their brother sister relationship. They are very protective of Elizabeth.

While out at a red carpet event, Elizabeth meets sexy bachelor, Spencer. She also meets Simon, who is a photographer. This story definitely has a love triangles. Elizabeth seems really confused on which guy is best for her. Both Simon and Spencer are great guys which makes it difficult for Elizabeth. Simon is keeping something from Elizabeth and it was frustrating because several time he tried to tell her but got interrupted and didn't tell her. I wanted to yell at my kindle every time she want to tell her and didn't because I wanted to know what he had to tell her too. Spencer has secrets too. We don't get to know what they are yet but we know it's somethings.

The toward the end things move quick and Simon's secret comes out. The ending is a little crazy and definitely left me wanting more.

Elizabeth has been living in the shadows and is now about to encounter more than she bargained for. Meeting a photographer and a bachelor are indeed complete opposites. She's in a love triangle and character development certainly leaves you guessing for the next move.

The only repetitive issue was seeing her go back and forth with her insecurity about being a size 12. What girl wouldn't worry but it was a bit overkill seeing her work on being fit and then seeing her unhappy about it.

The story is truly heart ripping and leaves you torn wanting to see her choose one over the other. Will she make the right choice? This emotional read ends in a cliffhanger and hope Gordon will write a sequel. Many answers to look forward to.

3.5 stars. An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review.

The blurb really intrigued me on this one. I honestly thought it would lean toward the funny side. There were a few funny moments, but overall the mood was more serious.

I really don't enjoy love triangles. They make me nervous and I hate not knowing who will end up with who. It drives me crazy. However, the author managed to get to me a little bit. I couldn't decide who she should pick either! In the end though, I know who I want :)

I give this one the 3.5 with just the 3 star rating because I felt like there was a bit too much going on. There was too much written into the book that really didn't need to be there. Maybe it'll all be tied in with the next book, but I didn't really feel a smooth flow to the story.

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review. This was a great book. I loved how the author made the main girl not Barbie size. Elizabeth struggles between Simon and Spencer both seem great. She also struggles with her body image but finally learns that she is beautiful being a size 12. The way the writer tells the story draws you in and has you torn between which guy Beth should choose. Even though I myself have never had this problem (dang) you can relate to her issues. With the help of her best friend it makes for a very rollercoaster ride. Many times I had to put the book down and say wow!! I loved that there were many things going on and kept the book interesting. I also liked that it lead up to more stories in the future. I highly recommend this book. Only thing I will say is it is not a quick read and once you start it you won't want to put it down. AbFabLynnette

I was gifted a copy for an honest review so here goes.
A new Author to me so was looking forwards to seeing how the story played out.

Elizabeth has insecurities about her weight and appearance as she feels frump un against her 2 very good looking and successful brothers.
So when the good looing eligible bachelor Spencer is interested in her she is unsure.

But not only has she caught the eye of Spencer along comes Simon a photographer who tries to win her heart.
Twists and turns for Elizabeth who still can't believe her luck runs into more than one problem along the way. Who will she choose they both have something to hide.

I was hooked to the end and can't wait to get my hands on the next book !

Gifted a copy for an honest review. What do you get when a young woman has to make a decision between swoon or sweet? You get Torn Hearts by M E Gordon. Elizabeth doesn't think of herself as drop dead gorgeous but just herself. She has Spencer in one hand and Simon in the other. This book relates to a lot of people in this world when it comes to self image. It has suspense, laughter, steamy scenes and a great mixture of romance. Who would you choose? Secretive and sweet or electricity and heat! Pick up a copy today.

Received an ARC for an honest review, and so i could read book 2!

Beth has not one but two gorgeous men wanting her. One she has all the butterfly feelings with, the other she feels safe!
The one she chooses Simon, he always has to run right when they get down to business. His phone conveniently rings. Beth chalk's it up to being a photographer. However I had a different feeling. Simon would always text Beth saying just remember I love you.
Spencer a millionaire, playboy, had his eyes on Beth the first night he met her. He'd leave little notes. He was mysterious to say the least. Beth couldn't get enough of him though. Always on her mind. Finally when Spencer and Beth were to try and make it work. Spencer wanted her to pick right then and there. No waiting. He pulled a Meredith from Grey's anatomy almost. Don't give Beth ultimatums. She told him off and left.
There was some bits of drama with her brothers and her roommate Gia! Always love good drama.
There is so much more to the story, beware though there is a slight cliffhanger!!

ARC given by author for a honest review..
The synopsis sounded pretty interesting.. so I gave it a shot.. I enjoyed the book.. Not a top fav but defiantly a good read.. and I would be interested in reading more… I really liked both Spencer and Simon.. Not sure even now who I would choose.. and Elizabeth.. well she was just beautiful… and I was sooo happy that she wasn’t a size 2.. A lot of books you read they say oh she has these curves but yet she is a size 2 .. No Elizabeth was a bigger girl (a size 12) and I liked that.. More like the rest of the world.. :) I also Loved Elizabeth’s brothers.. they were oh so protective of her.. It will be interesting to see where the author takes this story as the ending was kind of crazy..

**ARC provided by author, in return for an honest review.**

It was a little hard for me to get through this book. The characters were all over the place. The main characters, plus the supporting characters were all wishy washy. As soon as I'm starting to get attached to a character, something happens..then I'm lost again. This book gave me whiplash and the ending wasn't really an ending. I'm sorry I just cannot recommend this book.

I couldn't help but love this book. Your heroine is a sz 12 and has 2 men wanting her. You can still be beautiful and wanted if you are not a sz. 2. I loved the choice she made at the end and can't wait for the 2nd book to continue the journey. Everyone that is not a sz. 2 would love this book and even all the tiny women out there would love this book.

Torn hearts will break your heart!!! Elizabeth needs someone in her corner!!! It's like gah just pick one or both!! Both would work! Simon seems like the smart sensible choice and I was rooting for him until the end. I don't know if I really trust Spencer. He seems like the closet full of skeletons is running over...
