Development of the first Indonesian electric motorcycle nearly finished

An electric motorcycle with scooter models is made by the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember/ITS) Surabaya in collaboration with an Indonesian local automotive manufacturer Garansindo Inter Global Co.Ltd. Now, the motorcycle has been wearing the 'clothes' and can run too.

The plan motorcycles will be sold at an affordable price, Rp.15 million or approx US. $1,148. Currently ITS and Garansindo still continues to do the testing so that the motorcycle is roadworthy. The motorcycle (only its chassis) has appeared at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2015, will complete all of the test by the end of this year.

"Before the roadworthy, we have a series of trials and correct any deficiencies that exist in these trials. For the power controller itself is still 25 percent. It should be test until 50 percent to 100 percent, after that the road test can be done. We expect the test will complete this year and at the end of the year ready for the system revised. After that the motorcycle can be commercialized," said the leader of electric motorcycle resercher team and also an ITS Lecturer, M. Nur Yuniarto.

For charging the battery, the owner of the motorcycle will be easy. Not only charge the battery with a power outlet in the home, even the motorcycle battery that has run out in the future can be exchanged at the nearest gas stations or minimarkets. So if you run out of battery on the road, just popped into the nearest gas stations.

"Later, the motorbike uses Android, as well as its indicator. For example, when the battery is about to run out, just 25 km longer. You just look for the nearest gas stations or minimarkets, trade like you buy the mineral water bottle. Pay it, directly your motorbike can run again," he said further.

Motorcycles are expected to have a cruising range of up to 70-100 km in a fully battery capacity. While its speed is expected to be equal to the 125 cc petrol motorcycles. But the operational costs 30-50 percent less than conventional motorcycle.

In the development of electric motors, ITS as the motorcycle developer has learned a lot with several renowned electric motorcycle manufacturers like Zero and Italjet. Although almost all components developed by ITS itself, unless the battery is still imported from Japan.
Soon when there are the people interested, where are they could buy the motorbikes? "Dealerships soon be there, shortly after the motorcycle launched," said CEO of Garansindo Inter Global Co.Ltd, Muhammad Al Abdullah to detikOto.

But unfortunately this electric motorcycle seem to be canceled to attend at the IIMS 2016 event. "There will be a launching event of its own," says M. Nur Yuniarto.. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DETIK OTO]
