Abriella followed the rules set out by her family. Being mafia bred, meant women didn't get much of a choice when the men in their lives made calls on certain things.
Abriella didn't have the first clue how to go about achieving her own freedom now that everyone else around her had gotten free of their cages.
Tommas wanted one thing from Abriella. Just one. Love. She wouldn't give it – not freely. She wouldn't say it. He hadn't earned it yet. Abriella didn't know if he ever would.
“When you touch me, I go fucking stupid. I want more. I want you to keep touching me. I forget about all the reasons why I don't want you to touch me, and everything you did that made me so angry with you.
For Tommas and Abriella, something as simple as holding hands was sacred and rare. An action that they could only do in private. Affection they could't give freely.
Just simple, honest fun with a girl who tasted like trouble all over and gave him a whole new thrill that had nothing to do with the streets, being a Capo, or the mafia. Somewhere along the lines, fun with Abriella turned into a private apartment with her clothes in his closet, scarves hanging off the bedpost, and her lotions in the bathroom.
Abriella Trentini. Twenty-two, blue-eyed, smart as hell, sweet like sugar, but poison to his soul.
„I love you far more than the breath in my own body. I have always loved you, sweet girl. Abriella this is what you've chosen to give me and I've taken it because I can't do without it. Don't you understand that? I've only taken what you've given. If you want something else, then give me more. Tell me you want something more beyond this.
She didn't have to hide him anymore. They didn't have to play pretend on safe weekends, run between apartments for an hour of time together, or act like they weren't totally and completely in love with one another.
"NO more blood, not in Chicago. I won't allow another drop to spill for this war."
"Freedom wasn’t free. This life came with a cost"
" He's so fucking in love with you that he's stupid. He could be on the ground dying, and he would still think about you before himself."
“The Chicago war left no one scarless. Each soul burned by the bloodshed came out of the fire a little breathless, but far smarter and more loyal than before.”
