RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team also competed at the 2016 Draddy Invitational, hosted by Manhattan College, on Saturday afternoon at Draddy Gymnasium.
 
Red-shirt senior Joseph Caraciolo (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded a season best as well as an indoor p.r. in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.99 meter, which placed him second. Freshmen Royale Jamison (Bronx, N.Y.) and Ramiro Sanchez (Bristol, Conn.) also competed in the men's long jump and tallied personal bests as well. Jamison finished fifth with a jump of 6.71 meters and Sanchez placed 12th with a mark of 6.04 meters. Freshman Ruvens Exantus (Stratford, Conn.) recorded a jump of 6.53 meters, placing him seventh overall.

Freshman Jack Brown (Lyndon Center, Vt.) also posted a secon place finish for the Owls in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.50 meters.
 
Junior Kahlil Smith (Bridgeport, Conn.) registered a season-best in the men's triple jump as he recorded a seventh place finish with a distance of 13.59 meters. Exantus and Sanchez joined Smith in the men's triple jump and finished sixth and seventh overall. Exantus posted a jump of 13.62 meters and Sanchez posted a mark of 12.15 meters.

Freshmen Kade Amster (Moosup, Conn.) and Damon Taylor (Hamden, Conn.) took part in both the men's shot put and men's weight throw. In the shot put, Amster placed eighth with a throw of 13.28 meters while Taylor came in 10th with a distance of 11.90 meters. Amster picked up a fourth place finish in the men's shot put after posting a mark of 13.95 meters and Taylor recorded a sixth place finish with a throw of 13.23 meters.

The Owls are back in action on Feb 20th at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in Boston, Mass.
