Beyonce: Lemonade album on Tidal, could also be coming to iTunes

UPDATE: The New York Times reported Sunday that Lemonade is expected to be released for sale on iTunes at midnight, citing two people briefed on the plans for the release. Apple declined to comment when reached by the Times, and a spokeswoman for Beyoncé did not immediately respond to NYT‘s request for comment.

Tidal also announced Sunday that it will offer downloads of the album for $17.99 on its website.

EARLIER: Beyoncé released her latest album, Lemonade, on Tidal Saturday night following a world premiere event on HBO, and it appears that will remain the only place to stream it for the foreseeable future.

An industry insider told EW that Lemonade “will only be available on Tidal in perpetuity.”

The 12-track collection and accompanying videos mark Beyoncé’s sixth record and second visual album. Tidal described it as “a conceptual project based on every woman’s journey of self-knowledge and healing.”

Featured artists on Lemonade include Jack White (“Don’t Hurt Yourself”), The Weeknd (“6 Inch”), James Blake (“Forward”), and Kendrick Lamar (“Freedom”).

The album’s arrival also comes just as Beyoncé is about to start her “Formation” world tour, which kicks off this Wednesday in Miami and continues through July.
