The Hinterland Veil- The House of Crimson & Clover Novel- by Sarah M. Cradit is a 2016 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It feels like a long time has passed since we’ve touched base with Ana, Finn, Nicolas and Mercy. We’ve been exploring other family branches and situations, and other avenues for a time, while Ana was left in a very precarious situation, so I am thankful the author is giving me some long awaited answers. Whew!

I feel compelled to remind folks that this series is very complex, with a huge cast of characters, and so at this stage of the game, reading in order and keeping up with each installment is imperative.

For those who are following along, you will not want to wait one more day to start this new chapter! As always, this series continues to take me by surprise, so I knew to expect the unexpected. But, by the end of the book, I was puzzled by some characters, and still do not fully grasp what their intentions are, or trust them, was surprised by how far our boy Nicolas has come, yet as atypical as his actions are, he is also the same guy we’ve come to know and love, (yes, I said love.!!), but I did feel a little frustration towards him, ( ah- are you kidding me, right now?), although after some reflection, I could also understand his paralysis, I think.

However, I had a feeling of peace with Ana and her family, and their strength as a unit, knowing they will conquer further adventures, hopefully together, because they are a great team, although there are some bittersweet moments. I smiled, knowing they had come full circle and laughed at the author’s wry sense of humor, but Sarah has the last laugh as she slips in yet one more wicked twist of irony, giving us all something to look forward to…. This is going to be good, I can already tell!!

Anytime a new installment in this series is released, I am giddy with anticipation and always sad when the book ends. Each installment, each thread, each branch of the family all hold a unique spell over me, but I have followed Ana, Finn, and Nicolas from the beginning, and so they are the group I enjoy tagging along with the most. While there are many very dark aspects to this story, making me wish I could cover my eyes, there are some mysteries left to ponder on, a few heartaches, and as always a lot of uncertainties, there was a big feeling of relief too, where I could finally exhale, with an all new adventure on the horizon that could change the course of history for the Deschanels.

Overall, this was an excellent addition to the series and as things stand I am more eager than ever for the next book.

Nicolas is desperate to find a way to help Mercy, and worried for her state of mind, after her death and resurrection as a human. He needs to get her away but isn’t sure where to go, until he speaks to Oz, who gives Nicolas an idea. He persuades Mercy to take a trip and they fly to Glasgow then travel on to Portree, on the Isle of Skye with no idea what awaits them.

Finn, Aleksandr, Jon and Anne, searching for Anasofiya, are with the Quinlans in Ireland. Finn has agreed to train with Padraig, controlling and utilising his abilities, to help find Amelia and Jacob, which will aid his search for Ana. The training is a struggle, until he has a breakthrough and finds himself able to time travel.

Aleksandr is finding out more about himself, his destiny and the extent of his power, as well as falling in love. Meanwhile Anasofiya, Cyler and Agrippin are dealing with their individual struggles.

There are a lot of characters with expanding, yet connected, storylines, in this intricate and involved saga. As it develops and unfolds, each volume deals mainly with specific and differing groups. The storyline is complex, so detailed with incredible and totally unexpected twists. I love Finn, Ana and Aleksandr and the relationship between them. All the characters are extremely well defined and have evolved enormously. An amazing series.

Here, we are returned to Anasofia, Finn, Aleksandr, Nicholas, and Mercy, and a few others. The story moves quickly, with a few surprises, and not much tragedy (What a relief!). In truth, it ended a bit too quickly for me.

I wouldn't say this book was too short, but compared to some of the others in the series, I felt as if I read it much more quickly. Of course, I recommend it. If you've come this far in the series, and you're still reading reviews to see if it's worth your time, you need to have your head examined!

I voluntarily reviewed this book and I have not been compensated in any way.

Finn is delayed getting to Ana as he has to progress on his Quinlan training while Aleksandr is getting more comfortable with himself and his powers as he also discovers his first love. Nicholas takes Mercy to Scotland in a desperate move to try and search for a cure for her. At the same time Ana and Cyler are trying to resolve their own internal battles. Can all these groups of characters in disparate locations somehow find a solution to their problems?

I loved this story which was carrying on with the story and following the various groups of family members who are trying to resolve their problems. The writing was good and it was quite emotional in places as development occurred in the story for some of the characters. Now I just need to read the next one as I have to know what happens next!!

The Hinterland Veil by Sarah Cradit is the 17th installment in her House of Crimson and Clover series. As with her prior books, this latest installment does not disappoint--4.5 stars from me.

Cradit has created a detailed fantasy world that coexists with the world as we mortals know it. Her characters are detailed, developed and continually growing in their role in the The House of Crimson series and Clover. Cradit’s series installments alternate between lagniappes, where she creates the background for existing characters or introduces new characters, and novels where the story progresses. The House of Crimson and Clover grows more detailed, broad, and complex with each installment.

Hinterland continues the story of the Deschanels, Sullivans and the Empyreans and the threat of war and destruction. Agripin, Cyler, and Anasophia continue their power struggle. Finn continues to search for his soulmate, Ana. Their relationship/story has been my absolute favorite of the entire series. From their first meeting in The Storm and The Darkness, you could feel they were destined to be together. Their son, Aleksandr, struggles with discovering the extent of his power as well as his destiny as part of the prophecy. Nicolas and Mercy are on their own journey, and it will eventually bring them back to the epic battle between these two worlds. Then there is the sibling rivalry between Agripin and Oriana…actually, the family politics abound on both fronts!

The worlds in The House of Crimson and Clover are filled with possibilities. There is magic, time travel, other realms and paranormal beings. The ancient, powerful beings and humans alike struggle with family, power, and love. The Hinterland Veil ends not with cliff hangers but many loose threads that will eventually be woven into subsequent installments of Cradit’s epic saga.

While a few of the lagniappes can be read as standalone novellas for readers who just want a taste of Cradit’s creative writing style, to follow and enjoy The House of Crimson and Clover series, the books must be read in order. You cannot skip around or pick up the series in the middle. This series is so broad and complex that even though I have read every book in this series, I still need to refer to the family trees, time lines and definitions in the books’ appendices.

Reading order:
The Menagerie
A Band of Heather
Pandora’s Box
Surrender
Shame
St. Charles at Dusk
Flourish
Prequels (The Storm and the Darkness and Shattered)
Volume I: The Illusions of Eventide
Volume II: Bound
Fire & Ice
Volume III: Midnight Dynasty
Volume IV: Asunder
Dark Blessing
Volume V: Empire of Shadows
Volume VI: Myths of Midwinter
Volume VII: The Hinterland Veil

What an amazing book. The journey of all the different characters was easy to follow. We learn more about their strengths and how love plays an intricate role in all their lives. I love how each individual journey is leading them all to the same place. This book was full of surprises and I am amazed at how the author has weaved the story together so well. For those of you that have read the series you will know the characters that I am going to talk about, for those who have not started I suggest grabbing the first book ASAP ( it is free ) and begin this incredible journey and not read any farther.
Finn is finally taking the time to concentrate on who and what he is. I love seeing him overcome the struggle for action and take time to think things through.
Aleksandr has grown into a young man over a very short period of time. I am thrilled to see his first journey of love in this story. As he matures so do his gifts and it is fun watching who he is becoming.
Ana is finally realizing that what is inside of her is something to embrace. Although she scares me at times in this book, my heart still goes out to her for her pain and loss.
John is making himself useful around the town but still feels it isn't enough to help Finn but feel good at being useful.
Nic and Mercy's story is a turbulent ride, I found myself holding my breath more then once while reading it.
While this is just a bit about what I read (don't want to spoil anything) this book was a powerful edition to The House of Crimson and Clover series.
Author Sarah M Cradit has delivered a complex web of the characters lives and is weaving them together into a powerful story that leaves the reader craving the next little peek into anyone of the characters lives. I hope you enjoy the ride, I know I am loving every minute of it

THIS! Okay, so the previous book, left me feeling a little meh because I wanted to get onto the good stuff... well, this book is all about the good stuff. So many questions were answered and yet not so many that I am not looking forward to what is next.

Mercy I think has lost her mind and I don't think Nicolas is strong enough for the rollercoaster ride. I love how Ana's character is written. Her "ability" is so relatable and one can totally see how it could easily translate to real life. Cyler is a shady ass at best. Agripin is due his, ten times over. I don't want to give too much away here so just read it and find out for yourself LOL

* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *

Author Sarah M. Cradit has outdone herself with this latest installment from her amazing House of Crimson & Clover series. She left the readers hanging in the last book and finally she fills in some of the blanks that have been lingering in our minds since then. She continues to keep the ideas new and fresh and the characters are just as complex and compelling as they always have been. She is no stranger to plot twists, loops, curves and sometimes just straight jumps off of the cliff with her writing. The reader never has an inkling of what she will throw at them next!!

This book was about some of my all time favorite characters from the series, including Ana, Finn, Nick and Oz (just to name a few). I love the way that the emotions from the characters jump out of the pages and straight into the readers hearts and minds. The loss, the unknowing, the battle that each of the characters go through is like the reader is right there with them. The reader feels connected to the characters and to their emotions and will think about the books and the characters long after they have finished reading the book.

Author Sarah M. Cradit does not disappoint at all in this one! I highly recommend that the reader start with book 1 because they will be lost if they jump in right now. It is a complex world, and one that is worth starting at the beginning!! You don't want to miss a moment of any of these books!! Get book 1 and get ready to become hooked - you won't be able to stop reading or thinking about any of these characters!! Sit back and enjoy the ride (it's a rough, emotion filled, roller coaster that you won't want to ever end)!!!

**This book was provided by the author to Nerd Girl in exchange for an honest review**

As always Sarah Cradit does not disappoint in any way. With so many characters she makes it easy to follow each storyline and she combines each into one amazing story. If you have ever heard the expression "I'm in it for the long game" then you will understand my meaning. Each book in this series is in itself amazing, but all of them together is an out of body life experience that you need to experience! Seriously pick up the whole series PRONTO!

In this installment we come back to so many of our beloved favorites! Nick and Mercy, Alex and Finn and so many more. Love, adventure, despair, desperation, mystery, confusion, clarity and so many more aspects to this book. I apologize for being vague with details, but that's the way it has to be. If you have followed my reviews on this series then you know my passion for it. All I can say is this... Hands down 5 stars! Absolutely nail biting, edge of your seat, incredible book!

If you haven't done so already I suggest you start reading! I highly recommend it!! Sarah's unique writing style is captivating. You feel you are apart of the book. The characters leap of the pages at you. You find yourself entwined in the story as if it is your own. Incredibly written with many high points. It's edgy, captivating, insightful, entertaining and down right perfection! Congrats again Sarah! I tip my hat to you! 5 stars across the board as always.

There are very few things I actually look forward to, but anytime Sarah Cradit releases a new book in this series I am waiting with insane anticipation! This is another story following the Deschanel family and their struggles and triumphs. And, like with all her novels in this series, there are moments that are so intense that it brings you to tears.

I was so happy to finally be going back to Finn! He is one of my favorites in this series. And although I want to tell you all about his journey, I think it is important to let you read it for yourself! Watching what Aleksandr and Mercy going through what they are going through broke my heart into a million pieces. I cried a lot while reading this one. But I got to see some of my favorite characters again and go along on another adventure with them.

I have said this many times with other reviews for this series, it is a HUGE story and you need to read it from start to finish! But trust me when I tell you, these novels will never let you down. You will always be on some insane ride! These characters will get into your heart and make you think long after you finish the book. I have actually caught myself wondering what is next for my favorites in this series weeks after I finish the book.

I give this 4.5 lipsticks! It is really incredibly written!

Fans of Sarah M. Cradit have come to expect several things from her work, but two stand out to me: plot twists and non-stop action. The Hinterland Veil is a perfect example of her ability to pull the reader directly inside the story and just as the characters do--get moved around with the natural ebb and flow of the storyline. In this installment, we see our favorites (Nic&Mercy, Ana&Finn, young Alexsai) and others weather hardships, heartbreaks, and maybe even experience a triumph (seriously, plot twist of the century). THV is a full circle in many ways. Though it lacks the in-your-face gut punch of Midnight Dynasty or Myths of Midwinter, this book is the beginning of a HEA for many of the characters we've rejoiced and suffered with. As always, start from the beginning with Volume 1, Illusions of Eventide, grab a blanket and a bottle of wine (or seven), settle into a comfy chair and get started. Your housework may suffer, but you'll be so lost in the world of the Deschanels and Sullivans that you won't care.

Ahh, still totally amazing.

Ana is incredible when she goes Super Nova. She is now a force to be reckoned with. Through all the turmoil, she is still amazing. It will be interesting to see what happens with her and Jon. Also Jon and Anne. Has he really changed? Lets hope so.

Will Mercy get her baby? Soooo many questions. So i am keeping it short and sweet because i need to read the rest haha

Taking into consideration the cliffhanger involving Ana in the last book, I was more than anxious to see what became of her - and that question is answered in this new addition to the House of Crimson and Clover Series. Of course, any time I'm able to read more about Nicolas is like adding hot fudge to my chocolate-peanut butter ice cream. His character has made great strides, but he's still Nic in all the best ways.

Again, this author amazes me at how she's able to weave so many storylines involving a multitude of characters into a cohesive, intriguing, and complex plot. The Hinterland Veil is full of questions and answers, happiness and anguish, mysteries and curious motives and the pace of this story is in no danger of slowing down - so catch up while you have the chance - just make sure to read this series in order.

I have read all of Sarah Cradit's novels, from The House of Crimson and Clover Series: Volume I: The Illusions of Eventide to The Hinterland Veil Volume VIII. The Hinterland Veil is mysterious, captivating, complex, and surprising. Once again, this novel did not disappoint!
I am captivated by the Deschanel and Sullivan families, especially Ana, Ana's soulmate- Finn, Nicholas, and Nicholas's soulmate- Mercy. I adore the love story between Finn and Ana. I miss Adrienne, (Spoiler alert!) a main character that passed away in an earlier novel, because I adored her love story with Oz. I often still think about Adrienne as I continue on with the series. But Finn and Ana's love story is just as sweet. If I'm ever able to find the time, I'd love to re-read the entire series because it's that good! I do recommend that new readers start at the beginning of the series.

The Hinterland Veil has supplied much needed answers to so many questions. After reading this amazing book, I'm stuck with lots of new questions. I love it! The House of Crimson and Clover series can go on forever. These characters have become so real, like friends I haven't seen for awhile. It's an exciting reunion whenever Sarah puts out a new book.
I'm so glad I started the House of Crimson and Clover series when I did. It's taken me to places I'd never dreamed of! Sarah comes up with so many new twists with each new book. I have really enjoyed this series and I hope you will too, so go ahead and start with the first book and I guarantee you'll never look back! This book definitely deserves 5 stars.

I don't know how she does it but this is another solid home run for Cradit and the House of Crimson & Clover series. From page one you are once again racing thru the pages to see what happens next. Such a AMAZING weaving of a story that keeps you struggling to keep your emotions in check while Cradit draws them out and spills them across the pages. You can't help but become invested in every step that is taken thru her written words. I love this series and can't wait to see what the next book entails. This is a true journey that you will absolutely love.

The next book in the House of Crimson and Clover series takes us deeper into the lives of Finn, Ana, and all the others. Ms. Cradit knows how to weave a tale and keep us interested. There are so many parts of the history that keep unfolding. I really recommend reading these books in order, but definitely read them!

I was given an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. The opinions are my own.

Reading this installment of the House of Crimson and Clover series felt like coming home.
In the last book there was a mass flooding of new Deschanels and Sullivans and Empyreans to meet and love but The Hinterland Veil seemed to focus more on that core group of characters that made us all fall in love with this series to begin with.
If you can't wait for your next dose of Nicolas and Mercy and Ana and Finn, Aleksei, and all the other equally amazing badasses you've come to love from this author then look no further. This book is everything you have been waiting for!
