Would Money Be Enough To Convince This Atletico Star To Join Chelsea?

There’s no doubt that Conte’s arrival to Stamford Bridge is going to trigger a lot of changes. That is the actual point of naming a new manager. The most transparent will be those regarding the squad. Players will come and go and knowing Chelsea, important transfers will be made. We’ve talked about who might be up for sale and the names on the list would balance the Blues’ budget pretty well thus dodging possible sanctions from FIFA and it’s Financial Fair Play Regulations. Going forward, Conte should be able to bid and sign whomever he wants. His affinity for players performing in the Serie A is well-known so at least one transfer is expected to come from there. One of the two rumors which are quite common at Stamford Bridge is regarding Roma’s Radja Nainggolan. Apparently he already signed a pre-agreement which will be turned into a full-on transfer in June. Currently, transitioning from the Italian capital to London, would be an improvement for the 27-year-old midfielder who looks built for the Premier League.

The second rumor which is actually the most important is regarding Chelsea’s desire to sign Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann. According to Metro, the Frenchman who contributed massively to eliminating Barcelona from the Champions League and has scored 29 goals in 49 games this season is on top of the Blues’ transfer list. The 25-year-old is rumored to become the key player in Conte’s new formation, a formation which will probably include not one but two strikers. The biggest problem is that it will be really hard to convince Griezmann to come to Chelsea. Sure, the Blues have a history, have a name and infinite resources. They play in the best football championship in the world and they always aim high. Is that enough though considering the season that is about to end? Atletico have one foot in the CL final after their impressive 1-0 win over Bayern Munich, have an actual chance of winning the Spanish Championship and have one of the best young managers in the world. Why leave that? Well, because Chelsea are Chelsea and that should be enough. Even when lacking results, the Londoners are one of the biggest clubs in the world. They have the best players in the world and will have one of the best managers in the world. They settle for nothing less than all the possible trophies available during a season and despite a failed year such as this one, they are still expected to win whatever they can win. So, should Griezmann leave Atletico to join Chelsea? Yes, he should! Next year he`ll get the chance to win the Premier League and then in two years, he will surely get the chance to fight for the Champions League. For whatever reason, Atletico seems like the kind of team that could lose its momentum pretty soon just as Deportivo La Coruna, Valencia or Sevilla did.
