Bright House Offers Frustrated Frontier Customers A Deal

The cable, phone and internet provider is offering to help Frontier Communications' customers cover the costs of canceling their contracts.

TAMPA, FL — As Frontier Communications continues to field complaints from Tampa Bay area customers following its April 1 takeover of Verizon FiOS services, Bright House Networks is offering a deal it hopes some will find too good to pass by.

“We’ve put out an offer that’s responding to the tremendous amount of calls we’re receiving from Frontier customers,” explained Bright House spokesman Joe Durkin. That offer includes up to $240 in credits to help current Frontier Communications customers cover the costs associated with canceling their contracts with that provider, Durkin said.

Durkin said Bright House has been busy in recent weeks, fielding calls from Frontier Communications’ customers interested in learning more about making the switch. As some choose to do so, Durkin said Bright House is offering same-day or next-day installations in most cases.

Frontier Communications completed its purchase of Verizon’s FiOS operations in Florida, California and Texas on April 1. Since the switch over, Frontier customers in Florida and Tampa Bay have been lodging complaints ranging from the loss of on-demand channels and previously purchased movies to a complete loss of service – telephone, internet and cable. Some customers have also filed complaints with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumers Services and the Federal Communications Commission.

While Bright House, too, may undergo an ownership change in the coming months, Durkin assured customers any transition to buyer Charter Communications would be smooth.

“Our infrastructure and our network will remain intact,” Durkin told Patch. “They won’t experience any interruptions at all.”

Final word on the Charter Communications proposed buyout of Bright House won’t come until later this year.

In the meantime, Durkin said Bright House customers also enjoy one other thing that Frontier customers do not: “Bright House does not require customers to sign a contract for services. If you do the right thing, customers are going to stay with you.”

Frontier Communications’ Facebook page continues to receive complaints from customers affected by problems since the April 1 switch over from Verizon. Complaints posted on Tuesday included issues with a loss of such services as telephone, premium movie channels, previously purchased movies, internet service and cable.
