Former Auburn defensive end Elijah Daniel '50-50' to join Youngstown State

Former Auburn defensive end Elijah Daniel still has hurdles to clear before continuing his football career.

Daniel is transferring to Youngstown State but is "50-50" to join the Penguins this season, YSU coach Bo Pelini told a local NBC reporter.

"A lot still has to be done, with NCAA for him to join us," Pelini told the station.

Daniel, who is not currently listed as a student in YSU's email system, is still facing charges of theft and burglary stemming from his April arrest along with former walk-on linebacker DeNorris James and former walk-on track athlete Khalil Sellers for their alleged involvement in a string of robberies, which included a then-teammate, from a campus dorm during spring break.

The cases against all three were sent to a grand jury earlier this month.
