I am a traditionally published and Indie author that hails from sunny England (I lie, it's not really that sunny here!) I'm a hopeless romantic, so of course my main writing focus is romance. I love to create swoon-worthy males that steal your breath! I write mature YA, new adult and contemporary romance novels.

As well as being a writer I'm also an avid reader, mum to one little boy, proud chocoholic and an absolute beast at Lego PlayStation games.

If I had to sum myself up in one word, it would probably be 'daydreamer' - but unlike most of my school teachers, I don't necessarily view that as a bad thing. After all, I read somewhere once that books are like waking dreams...

Hi all,

So eeeeeek, the time has finally come around and, Fighting To Be Free is now live everywhere!!

I really hope you enjoy the book - I loved writing it and would even go so far as to say Jamie Cole is fighting for top spot in my favourite male leads I've created! This little book started out on Wattpad waaaaaay back in 2011 and was up there for a year, completed, before I took it down and then signed a two book deal with Hachette. It's different to the original first draft version that some of you may or may not have read a few years ago. It's basically been rewritten, edited several times over and has whole new chapters too. I'm so happy with the finished product, and I hope you guys are too because I had such fun creating it!

Fighting To Be Free is book 1 in a 2 part series, with book 2 (Worth Fighting For) out on 6th December - so not too long to wait!

I'm super super thrilled at all of the support on this book already - as always you bloggers and readers have been amazing! I love you all!

Also, thrilled to announce that iBooks have selected my little book baby as one of their "Best Books of September" - sitting alongside the likes of Jodi Ellen Malpas and Sam Young! *squee*
And another ALSO... Barnes and Noble have selected Fighting To Be Free as their number 1 romance "top pick" for September! So much support it boggles my mind! :D
So, to round it off, I really hope you enjoy the book!

Can I just ask - please, please don't leave spoilers in your reviews. And if you do have to add spoilers, please clearly mark it so that it doesn't ruin the reading experience of others.

Thank you!!
Kirsty <3

The end of the prologue, literally the last paragraph, shocked me. It hooked me in, made me imagine all kinds of scenarios and most importantly made me want Jamie Cole’s story.

The first few chapters are really quite a treat, they’re from Jamie’s perspective, an 18 year old man who's desperate to turn his life around and his depiction, thoughts and feelings, made me become fully invested in his character. Unfortunately, the female protagonist burst my story bubble. During the heroine’s perspective I very quickly felt that she was quite immature, she's a young character and sweet, but when dealing with adult themes, I needed her to be more than she was in terms of her thought process and dialogue to enable me to warm to her. In addition to this, I found a few of the transitions to be a little choppy and I had a slight issue with a couple of the supporting characters (the mothers) who are both a little too extreme in their characterisation which unfortunately made them appear to me like a caricature of themselves.

There’s an element of predictability and instant attraction which actually made me swoon and warm to the dynamic of their relationship, despite my reservations about the heroine. I definitely engaged with the story even though there are aspects that did not work for my reading tastes and caused me to disconnect from the characters somewhat and not feel as deeply as I should have for the raw aspects of the story. Jamie’s history is absolutely turbulent and I wanted to feel more. There are shocking elements and other occurrences that should have had my heart racing, and in the beginning that definitely happened but as the story progressed the shock factor and the raw happenings from the hero’s past did not have the desired effect on my sensibilities. Having said this there's something about Jamie Cole, something charismatic and I felt a very real need to know how this first part of the series ends and whether it would leave me wanting more and I’m happy to report the cliff hanger worked its magic ensuring my desire to experience the second part of their story.

Reading Note: FIGHTING TO BE FREE is the first in a two-part series and told from the dual perspective of the hero and heroine in first person narrative.

When I realized how young Ellie and Jamie were I got a little nervous because there are a very few amount of books that have such a young cast of main characters that I like. I find that most of them are too immature for me to really get into. But that, surprisingly, was not the case with Ellie and Jamie. I ended up liking them together and never had those moments where I'm cursing them for being so young.

I can see why this story had so many online reads, because it's that good! Jamie was the tough guy that had a shitty life, but who never gave up. I liked seeing him trying to get his life together, and trying to be the best mad for Ellie. It wasn't always easy but he never backed down from the fight.

It didn't take long for me to get completely hooked on this story and I even contemplated taking it along with me to my best friends wedding with plans to find a corner and hide to read more of it. It was just that intriguing. And the urge to know how it would end wouldn't let me stop thinking about Jamie and Ellie.

Overall, this book has many shocking moments that will leave your jaw on the floor, so prepare yourselves. I think any fan of a bad boy and sweet girl will like this one as much as I did and I can't wait to see what everyone else will think about it.

★★ 2.5 Stars ★★

Do you know what, I quite liked this book despite my low rating, but too many things bothered me about the characters and I just felt that the heroine was far too immature. And yes, I know that she was only 17 years of age, but still, I need to have a female lead that makes me want to root for her and I just didn't feel invested in her at all.

Jamie was slightly more likeable, he was a sweet broken hero, who after four years in juvenile detention, wanted to go straight. Unfortunately, he also did extremely questionable things that made me roll my eyes and I just couldn't justify his reasons for wanting to put him and his girl in so much danger.

Whilst this story was not for me, I can see a lot of people liking it for the simple fact that it contains a bad boy hero who falls for the popular and sweet cheerleader. Whilst the characters are only 17/18, this book does contain sex, which was a plus.

4 Worth Fighting For Stars

The Boy Who Sneaks into My Bedroom Window is one of my top ten reads ever. I love that book like mad, so I’m a mega Kirsty Moseley fan. Fighting to Be Free was originally on Wattpad but after six million reads, it’s finally published. This version is newer and with a lickable cover.

If you are a fan of the boy from the other side of the tracks kind of read, then this one is for you. Think teen angst, forbidden love and overcoming obstacles.

Like I said, Jamie is the boy from the other side of the tracks. When the book starts it starts dramatically and you get a sense of where Jamie comes from and what he’s dealt with. Jamie is released from juvenile detention. He’s been locked up for years and now he wants to go the straight and narrow path.

The only thing, the path is very difficult to obtain. What I really enjoyed about this book is Jamie’s story. Kristy Moseley develops a character’s background so well. You feel for the characters and you are sucked into the story. Jamie lives in a bad apartment and is low on cash. He tries to get a job but it’s not easy.

Ellie is the pretty popular, but nice girl. She recently broke up with her boyfriend and she’s ready to start over. She isn’t looking for another boyfriend, but that doesn’t mean she can’t have fun. She has fun with Jamie and things start to progress. Ellie is an adorable Heroine to read. I like that she’s sweet, yet she isn’t innocent. She wants to have fun and be responsible. And of course the bad boy appeals to her.

Jamie and Ellie’s relationship forms fairly quickly but the mega storyline is all the problems that start to happen. With Jamie’s past, Ellie’s family and ex, there are a lot of issues to keep you happy.
This is a meaty book so you get your bang for your bunk. It’s filled with drama, romance and interesting storylines.

I have to admit Miss Moseley done a good job with her story idea. I think she meant this book to be slow burn. It was pretty decent.

It's just the focus becomes out of focus with too much telling. The conversation can be edited better. Much better.

Overall a decent read.

When life deals you a bad hand, just keep playing. Tomorrow you might be wearing a smile and holding all four aces. ~Susan Gale

Sometimes life deals you the worst hand. Blow after blow. Letdown after letdown. Heartache after heartache. You’re in a hole of despair so deep that you may never break free unless you fight for that freedom, releasing the chains that bind you. Fighting to Be Free is a tale of guts and glory that grips your heart, sinking itself into your soul, where you can’t help but feel everything.

Fighting to Be Free started out slow but a burn built that beckoned me right into the flames as my heart caught fire, struggling to get free. This story’s slow burn seeped into my soul. Fighting to Be Free fought with me. Hot and cold. Dark and light. Tough and tender. Amplified, my emotions were entangled, engulfing me. The feels flowed me like waves, crashing hard and fast…all over me.

I only had to read the synopsis to know that Fighting to Be Free would entangle my emotions, wrapping this story around my soul…and that it did. The first page packed a punch to the gut where I knew Fighting to Be Free would be a hard-fought tale, one perhaps where hell would happen before happiness. Instantly, I was cast into this story’s clutches…captivated…claimed. I knew this broken boy who was indeed fighting to be free would break me.

Dark-eyed, dark-haired, and muscular 18-year-old Jamie Cole has just been released from juvenile detention after two long years for a crime that is rather…complicated. He has had to grow up fast at a young age, wiser than his teenage years. His focus is to start a new life, build something from nothing.

“This was my second shot, my chance to come out of the darkness and into the light. With every cell in my body I was planning on fighting to be free of this life, even if it killed me.”

Jamie doesn’t need any distractions, especially a young woman.

“I couldn’t take my eyes off of her; I’d never wanted a girl more in my life.”

Beautiful red-haired and blue-eyed Ellie Pearce just dumped one piece of pathetic baggage, her first and only boyfriend of two years that became stifling like a straightjacket. Out on the town with her friends at a dance club, her mission is to let loose and have fun for the first time in her life. Until one young man across the room captured her with just a look, a look that morphs into more.

“His mouth claimed mine in a kiss that was so hot I was surprised we weren’t both on fire.”

The chemistry ignites like an inferno, blazing a ring of fire around the broken boy fighting to be free and the girl who wants to be his lifeline. Jamie was supposed to be Ellie’s one night of fun, one night of throwing caution to the wind. Jamie was not supposed to be the boy making her fall, the boy who would likely break her heart. Jamie and Ellie are kindred spirits. One light, one dark. One soft, one hard. One young man who melted every piece me.

My heart broke for this broken boy—forced to fight and forced to commit crimes—who didn’t think he’s worthy of love and a life to live free from the chains of the past. Jamie hit my heart hard as I felt his heart escape under his hardened exterior, melting and mesmerizing me. I was in awe at this amazing man trying to rise from nothing but slowing becoming everything. This broken but beautiful soul stole my soul.

“I know that I’m not good enough for you—you deserve so much better than me.”

Fighting to Be Free by Kirsty Moseley is a spellbinding and soul-searing story of Fight Club meets The Fast and the Furious, a story that is hard yet soft, tough yet tender, and dark yet light. I fell in LOVE, HARD AND HOPELESSLY, with the heart-hitting Fighting to Be Free. This devastatingly beautiful and brilliant book broke me in the best way. THIS STORY IS EVERYTHING.

Fighting to Be Free flung itself at me, hitting my heart…hijacking it…hijacking me. I felt every word I read as these pages, like a fighter to the mat, pounded into me. The feels…I fought them. They fought me. Those feels flowed as did my tears—fast and furiously—as I hoped for happiness. Intense and intoxicating, I could not help but FEEL Fighting to Be Free, a story that still owns my heart that may never break free.

Inhalt:

I am a huge Kirsty Moseley fan, I love her writing and I've got to say this book did not disappoint. Written in dual POV the story follows Jamie Cole as he leaves juvenile detention after serving 4 years inside, Jamie now aged 18, is determined to go straight and leave his criminal past behind. He then meets gorgeous head cheerleader Ellie Pierce who has just got out of a sham relationship with the captain of the school football team, Miles. Both Ellie and Jamie are not looking for commitment, but, as we know, life never goes according to plan and things start getting a little more serious. At the same time Jamie discovers it's not that easy to leave his past behind and he ends up getting sucked back into the life through no real fault of his own, mainly because he's such a nice guy. As lovely as they both are, and they are, the chemistry is amazing, but can they get past Jamie's secrets and make a go of their relationship? Or will Jamie's past prove to be just too much? Beautifully written and thoroughly enjoyable, and at times, a little bit emotional, I did shed the odd tear. Although this is not a cliffie per sé, it is more a, to be continued, I've got to say, I need book two in my life now. I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

4 out of 5 stars! ⭐ I really enjoyed reading the first part of Jamie & Ellie's story! 'Fighting to Be Free' is the first part of an opposites attract romance. Kristy Moseley created two characters on the cusp of being adults and trying to find themselves. Jamie was such a lovable boy, but he was also tough. His character reminds us that our past doesn't dictate our futures, but it's hard to run away from the past, sometimes impossible. He wants to be a man Ellie deserves and it comes with a huge sacrifice on his part that absolutely tore me apart, but made me wicked excited for the sequel. 'Fighting to Be Free' does end on a bit of a cliffhanger as their story will continue in 'Worth Fighting For'. I am going to start with the second book right away as I can't wait to read how the story will unfold. 😉❤️💔

So here is what the new-adult dark romance novel is about: Jamie is fresh out of juvie and ready to turn his life around. He knows that he needs to make some changes in his life to make sure he can have a second chance. Jamie is really mature for being 18 and that’s due to his painful childhood where he was really more the adult. Now that he’s out, he’s also determined to go straight. He had turned to a life of crime as just as a way to survive. He ended up finding acceptance, family, a love of cars, and a talent for stealing them. Ellie is the head cheerleader at school. She’s one of the popular kids with her football player boyfriend. Except Ellie had hit her limit and ended the only relationship she’s ever had. She’s looking forward to enjoying the single life as she tries to figure out what she wants to do with her life and where to go to college. Jamie and Ellie are complete opposites. When he comes to her rescue one night, both are surprised by the attraction. They have a great night, but Ellie really isn’t looking for more than what they shared. They end up transitioning to friends as both could use someone different in their life. 🖤🖤🖤

“Every now and again something comes along that ignites the desire for you to be the person that you strive to be, the better person. When I stripped everything else away, peeled off the dirty, raw and damaged layers, all that was left was hope. Hope for a better life, for a brighter future. Just hope for a chance. Suddenly, with that fire in your belly, a ‘what if’ becomes a possibility. What if you threw ideals out of the window? What if you dismissed everything you ever knew? What if the bad guy could be the hero of the story for a change? I guess what it all boils down to is this: my name is Jamie Cole, and I’m a murderer.” ― Kirsty Moseley, 'Fighting to Be Free - Nie so geliebt'

oh my bob this was so f*cking stupid. I'm not going to describe the synopsis because it's boring, but just know that I wanted to read this to see how bad it would be. welp, I think I got what I asked for.

let me summarize my thoughts real quick because I don't want to go in detail.

Ellie was annoying and naive. I didn't like her much, but I wanted to learn more about Ellie's interests. It seemed like astronomy was something that she was interested in, but she enjoyed fashion more, and yet we don't learn enough about either. Most of her actions were annoying, and she had horrible judgement when it came to Jamie.

Jamie barely had a personality. If you asked me for three adjectives to describe him, I couldn't give you one. The only "characteristic" I'd say he had was a "traumatic past" that's supposed to compensate for his lack of personality, but that doesn't work over here. And I have a bone to pick with Jamie because when a problem at the end arises, instead of telling the whole truth, he told Ellie a detailed lie so that she wouldn't be so heartbroken. I can't speak for Ellie because she was a fictional character, but personally, I'd want my partner to straight up tell me the truth instead of being omissive and lying to me so that I won't be upset or heartbroken.

Miles was an intolerable character who deserves nothing. As much as I didn't like Ellie, he did not deserve her at all. We don't learn that much about him, but just know that he was a privileged kid that I didn't care about.

Anyone else in the story was so insignificant that I can't even remember them, so I'm not going to try and discuss them.

The plot was paced well, but the inner dialogue of both Jamie and Ellie was annoying. Almost every single thing they said that was in italics ended in an exclamation mark. This is just a small thing that bothered me because it was just weird to me.

Even though this ended on a cliffhanger that will be fixed in the next novel and could be somewhat interesting, I'm not spending a dime on the sequel. Why? You may ask. Well that's because

1. I didn't like most aspects of this novel

and

2. when Miles , it's never addressed correctly. After Jamie finds out, he just consoles her by saying comforting things instead of addressing what Miles did and why it's wrong. That whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way, and I became repulsed by this book.

So yes, I'm not reading "Fighting To Be Free" again or the sequel. I truly regret reading this and wouldn't recommend it.

This is the first book I've read by this author although quite a few friends have told me to read a certain book by her. I will certainly be reading her previous books as this was oh so good.

My heart broke for Jamie. He had been through so much and just when he was trying to get his life back on track more crappy luck popped up. When he met Ellie I was so hoping he would find some happiness and inner peace.

I found myself speaking to the characters wanting them to do or say the right thing. I was rooting for them to get the happiness they deserved.

This is a really beautiful well written story that I truly loved. I'm so looking forward to the next book as that ending had me growling.

Quattro stelle e mezzo.
Kirsty Moseley Free to love: Niente da perdere se non l'amore Fighting to Be Free

Some books you like, some you love. Then there's the books that consume you, the ones where the words wrap around you like a blanket and keep you locked inside. The books where the characters take hold of your heart and soul until they become your only focus. This is one of those books. I have wholeheartedly missed Kirsty Moseley's words. This book reminded me of why i love her writing so much. They way she takes 26 letters and creates worlds i want to live in forever, I'm in awe of this lady and the way her mind works.

After being released from juvie Jamie Cole is ready to go straight, but cutting ties with his old crime boss Brett Reye isn't as easy as he hoped. Just being released and living in a run down apartment a woman should be the last thing on his mind, But when he steps in to help a pretty red-head he just knows he's hooked.

Ellie Pearce has just broken up with her long term boyfriend, she isn't ready for another relationship. She wants to spread her wings so when a handsome stranger steps in to help her she jumps at the chance to go home with him, no point ignoring the obvious attraction. Ellie wants to keep things casual but can Jamie change her mind when feelings grow? With so manys secrets behind him can Jamie ever be free from his past?

Gah i loved Jamie, my heart broke for him after everything he's been through. He's such a tortured soul just trying to do the right thing. Ellie was a breath of fresh air for him, the very first person to love him for who he was faults and all. They're absolutely beautiful together. I was totally rooting for them from the beginning. I can't wait to see more of them together, i adore them.

I was hooked from the very first page of this book, i didn't expect half the things that happened and OH MY SHIT THAT ENDING!!! WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK. I was left with my jaw on the floor, I NEED MORE NOW!!!! I've already preordered my copy of book 2. Ive loved every Kirsty Moseley book and this one didn't disappoint me. 5* over here.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Kim's Review!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received an ARC for my honest review.

I read this book years ago on Wattpad, and when I heard it was being published with brand new content I was jumping for joy with excitement! I couldn't contain myself when I was lucky enough to receive an ARC! I didn't think this amazing piece of work could get any better than it already was, but I was so wrong. It's so much better, I just feel like reading it all over again already!

Fighting To Be Free follows Jamie Cole a young man that at the age of only 18 has already been through so much in his short life. He's fresh out of juvie and wants a brand new start, he wants to be free from his past. Jamie meets Ellie the 17 year old red head and he just has to know her. Ellie fresh out of a controlling relationship doesn't want anything serious, she just wants to be free and have fun. Will Jamie change her mind? Will he ever be free from his past?

I'm trying to keep my review spoiler free this book is so special, so emotional it needs to be experienced first hand! Go in blind and enjoy the ride!

My heart broke for Jamie and everything he had been through he's beautifully broken and you just want to be the one to fix him. I laughed, I jumped for joy, and I most definitely cried! What a ride! The follow up book Worth Fighting For comes out in December and Ive already pre-ordered my copy I just can't wait for more from Jamie and Ellie! It's beautifully written as with everything I've ever read by Kirsty Moseley, she never disappoints me! Her writing has the power to turn me into a blubbering mess one minute and then turn it all around and make my heart jump for joy!

Five stars from me it's not enough, it deserves so much more but that's all I can give!

This was my first book by Kirsty Moseley and I really enjoyed it! Jamie Cole is a an AMAZING main character. He is thoughtful, brave, HOT as hell and COMPLETELY selfless. This story is incredibly well-written and very, very heartfelt. Jamie and Eliie's star-crossed love is thrilling and beautiful! The ending took me by surprise. More to come soon.

ARC provided by the publisher in return for an honest review.

Verdammt gut!

Gute Unterhaltung...

Fighting to Be Free (Fighting to Be Free #1) by Kirsty Moseley

Fighting to Be Free is the first book I've read written by Kirsty Moseley, her writing is good, story flows well, and written in a dual point of view did not disappoint. I defiantly will check out her other books.

Jamie who is 18 years old has just been released from spending 4 years in a juvenile dention centre (jail), all he wants now is to take his new found freedom and live a life without crime. Of course nothing is that easy, and Jamie is pretty much told he has to go meet someone from his past. Jamie’s choices are limited and from here pretty much gets told what is going to happen next. Life doesn't always go the way you want it to.

Jamie meets Ellie and even though neither one of them is looking for any type or relationship and not anything that involves any form of commitment. But again since nothing has been going the way Jamie wants it to, you can only guess what happens next. Jamie and Ellie are great together and have amazing chemistry, almost like they were made for each other they do say opposites do attract. But Jamie has secrets and they could destroy what Ellie and Jamie have started. Jamie is struggling trying to stay away from a life of crime. All Jamie wanted was to stay straight and start a good life. Can Jamie finally get what he wants? You need to read to find the answers.

Fighting to Be Free started a bit slow, but it worth the read and now I have to go find book 2 in this series to see what happens next. I have rated Fighting to Be Free 4 star rating.

I received a copy of Fighting to Be Free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have so much to say about this book that this review may turn into a big ramble - you have been warned !
I have just finished what is possibly her best book so far and one of my favourite books of the year even if I did want to read lots of it with my hands over my eyes and a sense of dread in my stomach I still enjoyed every beautiful word this talented author wrote.
My favourite thing about reading is the way someone's words can make you feel and this book gave me all the feels - I felt sadness, happiness, love and hope - hope of a better future, hope of being a better person, hope of a happy ending - yeah this book gave me hope.
I know this sounds like a really gushy review but I can't stress how much love I have for this epic story - I feel a big book hangover coming on and I don't get those - ever.
This story will stay with me for a really long time, I'm slightly biased as Kirsty is my favourite author and I've been waiting for soo long that I lapped this book up in a day.
I've avoided going over the plot in my review as I feel that the reader needs to experience this book without to much info, going in blind will make your reading experience so much better.
I said this review could be a bit of a ramble but what I hope comes across is my love for this book, characters and author - oh and just before I go Kirsty writes the best first chapters EVER - they hook you and then don't let you go !
I can't wait for Worth Fighting For !!!!!

3 stelline e mezzo
