TOWN OF LOCKPORT – A Ruhlman Road man told authorities his Pomeranian was killed by a neighbor’s pit bull Thursday night as he walked the dog around his apartment complex.

Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies said the attack occurred about 8 p.m., when the pit bull being walked by a boy lunged for the smaller dog, pulling the boy to the ground and dragging him briefly before he lost his grip on the leash.

The boy’s mother told deputies the dog, which was recently adopted, would be surrendered to the Niagara County SPCA. Deputies also notified the Town of Lockport dog control officer.
