New Telegraph reports that following the violence that accompanied the state governorship election on December 5 and 6, some corps members are still trapped in troubled areas in the state.

The electoral umpire on Monday, December 7, announced that the election was inconclusive upon cancelling the rescheduled election in Southern Ijaw local government area of the state where violence was rife.

It was gathered that security operatives are currently making frantic efforts to retrieve the corps members from the troubled areas.

A security source who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed that the whereabouts of some of the corps members are still unknown. The source added that some of the corps members were injured while others were kidnapped during the attacks. The attacks have been blamed on party thugs and ex-militants carrying out the orders of their sponsors.

In reaction to the development, Governor Seriake Dickson, who spoke with newsmen last night, confirmed the development.

He said: “As we speak, we are in the process of working with community leaders and other partners to identify and retrieve youth corps members who were put in danger for no fault of theirs.

Meanwhile, the governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has said everything under President Muhammadu Buhari was becoming inconclusive in reaction to the Bayelsa state gubernatorial election that was declared inconclusive by the INEC.

The commission began the official announcement of the governorship election results on Sunday evening, December 6, and continued on Monday morning, December 7, but later in the day, the commission suspended the announcement indefinitely.
