Does your rug have a loose yarn poking up at you? If your area rug has plush face fibers then, without pulling it up any further, you can snip it off without harming the rug. HOWEVER if your area rug has a looped face fiber design and one of the loops has been snagged and pulled up (perhaps from a vacuum, a shoe or your pet) NEVER cut it off! The loops are continuous and cutting will break the continuous thread, which will allow the rug pile to unravel. If you think the pull is unsightly, just wait till the rug starts to unravel!
