LOWELL — A Middlesex Superior court jury has found Walter Shelley guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 15-year-old John McCabe 44 years ago.

Shelley, now 61, of Tewksbury, has been on trial for a week. Shelley will now spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Shelley was the last of three men initially charged with McCabe’s death to be prosecuted. Michael Ferreira was acquitted and the third suspect, Edward Allan Brown turned state’s witness and testified against Shelley
