Henry Kalungi of the Richmond Kickers to join D.C. United for their Indonesian tour

The Richmond Kickers center back and captain looks to be joining D.C. United as a guest player for their Indonesian tour.

According to Winthrop University, his alma mater, Henry Kalungi of the Richmond Kickers will be joining D.C. United as a guest player on their Indonesian tour early next month. If you remember, Kalungi was on trial with United during the last preseason and was one of the last players cut. After returning to Richmond, he captained the team to the regular season title, when he wasn't away with the Ugandan National Team, and then went on loan with the Carolina RailHawks after the end of the Kickers' season.

Kalungi's spot with his national team is threatened if he stays in USL Pro, with Micho Sredojevic telling him to move to a league where he can play "more competitive football." Kalungi has not started a game for the Cranes since Sredojevic has taken over. Kalungi is under contract with the Kickers for next season, so it seems as though United would have to pay some sort of fee to pry him loose; however, I would think that the fee would be pretty small, even by MLS standards.
