Review
Such a sweet love story in the beginning and normally with such sweet stories, I would be throwing up a bit in my mouth….but not with this book because the unexpected happens partway through it.  Even though Katie is plagued with nightmares and the same dream over and over again – she is a sweet, strong and fighting for independence to become a nurse.

The author took us for a road trip through roads full of happiness, love, swooning, caution, terror, heartbreak, angst, sorrow, betrayal and forgiveness.  So NO, my friends, I wasn’t disappointed in this story and I didn’t have to go brush my teeth and drink some mouthwash.

The only quirk I have about this story is the time Katie spent at the Outer Banks and her relationship with Aidan.  It was too quick and I get it….it was meant as a rebound but still, I believe that Katie felt too deeply for Aidan.

Oh and that grandmother at times I wanted to wring her skinny neck…..and don’t get me started on when Branson broke my heart too!  Ugh….can you say STUPID PRIDE?? I still think Katie should have made him fight harder for her.

Re-Cap
Katie meets Branson in her last year at college and it’s a fairy tale romance between the two of them.  They just click…not much more to say than that.  Katie though suffers from crippling nightmares that keep tugging at her mind….she feels like she knows what is happening but it doesn’t coincide with the memories she really has.

While Katie and Branson are planning their wedding, it all comes back to Katie and what happened in the life instead of what she thought her past consisted of.  She is devastated, feeling betrayed by her grandmother, she lets everything out about her past to Branson who is dumbfounded and unable to process the past she is telling him.  He lets her walk away, Katie feeling that she is tainted now and not worth the love of Branson.

She travels to the Outer Banks with her meddling grandmother and meets Aidan.  She starts to open up again but…..is there still something missing from her life?  Will she ever find the true love she had with Branson?  Could there be more than one soul mate in her life?

Wrap Up
Beautiful story of love found and then lost.

As a debut novel….Eleanor Green is going places!!

Torn by Eleanor Green

Review by Jen

Torn was an amazing story. This book puts you through so many different emotions. There were moments I laughed, cried, and just got angry. As you are reading, you really feel like you’re right there in the story with these characters. This was an intense and emotional roller-coaster ride. You get a little bit of everything .. there was passion, suspense, and romance. Eleanor Green did such a great job with her debut novel. I also think she did a great job incorporating some very important issues.

Katie Harrington goes through four years of college to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. During her last year of college, she meets handsome Branson Stone. They’re the perfect pair and are so in love with each other. Katie and Branson get engaged and they are extremely happy together.

But when Katie begins having flashbacks of a life that she doesn’t remember, she discovers that some horrible things happened and were completely erased from her memory in order to protect her. She tells Branson everything that she remembers, but instead of being comforting and supportive to his fiancee, he lets her walk out of his life.

Katie leaves town for the summer to let herself heal. While she’s in the Outer Banks, she meets Aidan Romero, a dangerously sexy local. Katie begins to heal and starts to move on with her life with Aidan, until Branson finds her.

Katie is completely torn between dealing with her past with Branson or moving on with Aidan and keeping her past hidden. The choice is up to Katie .. does she try to forgive Branson and go back to the way things were? Or does she move on with Aidan and forget about everything that has happened? Read this wonderful story and find out!!

I really liked Katie. She is a smart, beautiful, strong, and caring girl. She went to college and worked hard so that she could pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. In her final year, she meets Branson. They hit it off right from the beginning, and become friends immediately. I loved how Katie was with Branson. She saw him and was instantly attracted to him. As their relationship progressed, she realized it was much more than just attraction.

“It was deeper than lust, stronger than love, and more powerful than anything she had ever experienced. She was perfectly and completely addicted to Branson.”

When Katie starts having flashbacks about a life she doesn’t remember, you can’t help but feel awful for her. I really felt like I was there and I was experiencing everything with her. She is an extremely strong girl and I loved that about her. She could have given up, but she’s a fighter and she worked through it.

I loved Branson. He is sweet, sexy, smart, and athletic. He meets Katie in college while he’s pursuing a business degree so that he can take over his father’s company. Branson sees Katie for the first time and knows that he wants her. I loved how Branson was when he was with Katie. He was so sweet and just wanted to make her happy. He wanted to take care of her and show how much he cared about her.

“He held Katie’s hand and smiled. ‘I’ll always fight for, you’re worth fighting for.’”

I knew from the beginning that Branson was an amazing guy, but he kept surprising me. There were those moments that he made you swoon and I loved every single minute of it. He really loved Katie and the way he expressed his feelings just melted my heart.

“Katie, you have captivated my heart and soul. I wanted to bring you to your favorite spot to tell you that I love you.”

Even though I don’t agree with Branson’s reaction when he finds out about Katie’s past, I don’t really blame him. Everything was kind of thrown at him and he wasn’t given the time to process what happened. I do think that he could have handled it differently though, but I still love him.

Aidan Romero. He’s hot and definitely a bad boy. I liked him in the beginning, but towards the end, he didn’t do it for me. He was sweet and wanted to have fun with Katie and help her heal, but my heart loved Branson more.

Then there’s Katie’s grandmother. She has been there for Katie in every possible way. She loves her so much and I really appreciate that. But, her decisions and interference in certain situations make things really hard for everyone. She causes heartache and issues for everyone involved. I understand why she did what she did because she thought she was helping Katie, but she only made things worse.

I really enjoyed this book. The connection between Katie and Branson was so amazing. I really loved that they started off as friends first, and then moved into a relationship. I really enjoy a book that makes me feel so connected to the characters. I loved watching Katie and Branson together and I rooted for them through the entire book.

The quality of writing was great. The story was well-written and very enjoyable to read. This was such a passionate and suspenseful romance between two characters that had such an intense attraction and connection to each other. The story kept me interested and I found myself looking forward to the next page. I could not put it down!

4.5 Diamonds for this wonderful story!!

I was given the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

You know a book is good when you start talking to the characters and offering them advice. And that was what I did in “Torn”………. several times. Funnily enough, Katie didn't listen to me.
Chapter one started and I was immediately sucked into Katie’s world. If you haven’t worked it out yet, Katie is the main character and most of the story is from her point of view. Chapter two spun off in a different direction and, at this stage I thought I was going to read a sweet romance, but I still loved it.
But then, we (Katie and I) were catapulted back in time and everything that happened after that changed the carefully crafted world of Katie Harrington. What do I mean by ‘carefully crafted world”? The only way you can find that out is if you read the book.
I don’t like a book which is predictable. I like twists that have me flicking over the pages because I need, not want, to know what happens next. Eleanor Green’s characters are so real that I fell in love with some, became highly suspicious of a few and despised some as well. Branson has become my latest book boyfriend.
I gave Torn 5 out 5 stars. It contained all the elements I love in a book and kept me awake at night. If Torn is an indication of Eleanor Green’s writing, I’I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.

This book is so different from other's that I've read in a really good way.

I went in blind, so when I opened my kindle and began this journey into 'Torn' I had no clue what to expect. Wow. The way that Ms. Green starts this novel is intense. You will be hooked from the first few words. You'll want to know exactly what happened to Katie in her past and when you find out, your heart will break... into a million pieces.

Enter Branson. Oh sweet, Branson. I wanted to unwrap HIM for Christmas. You'll understand once you read Torn.

This novel, like I said, is unlike others out there. Why? It takes you down a dark journey of self discovery and overcoming one's past all the while, dealing with complicated relationships. It's like two books in one. When secrets of Katie's past come to light, her world that once was cupcakes and rainbows is completely TORN apart. Everything she had and once was, is on the line. I am going to remain silent on the rest. You must read this book to truly understand all the emotion that pulses through you as you turn each page faster than the one before to see how it will all end. Choices in life are never easy, and you feel this so much as you imagine yourself holding Katie while she goes through her life trying to find out what the right choices are to make for a future that she is torn about.

Congrats on a fantastic debut Ms. Green.

I'll try to review this book without giving too much away since is one of those stories that has a little bit of everything and most of it's good. You know the type of story I'm talking about, that one that you start talking and then keep on rambling and spill everything out because you have to share it with everybody so that you can make them understand.

I was surprised by this story. It had some of the elements I've come to expect from this genre - a troubled main character, an angsty storyline, an abundance of emotions and a happily ever after.

Eleanor Green pulled me into the story from the very start by making me curious about Katie's story. This girl has had some problems in her past and it's made apparent in the first few pages alone. She was smart and focused with a big heart.

As the story progressed, I felt a bit hesitant because it was just too perfect. Nice girl meets nice guy, they fall in love, everybody's happy and - BOOM! Tragedy strikes. You feel for them and cheer them on their journey and when everything is looking peachy once again - WHAM!

Now we're thrown into the good stuff. The nitty gritty. And let me tell you, it's a whopper! Kudos to Eleanor for bringing Katie's dark past to the page without making it over the top. I loved it!

Everything comes to light. Katie breaks down. She tries to deal.

And it is here, in Katie's time of 'healing', where I lost some of my interest. Because I was already invested in Katie and Branson's relationship, the introduction of Aidan just pissed me off. Don't get me wrong, the man was sexy and charming with his Latin loveliness, but I just could not get into him. I wanted to trample Katie. I could understand where she was coming from but some of her behavior was way too out of character for her. I saw how having Aidan in her life helped her heal, but I don't think the added drama and confusion was necessary.

Thankfully, Katie moved on from her 'healing' phase at the right time and the story progressed nicely, allowing me to somewhat overlook Katie's unusual behavior. I loved her character with Branson. He brought all her greatest trait to the surface and I couldn't see anyone better suited for her. He was real, fighting his conflicting emotions, but in the end accepting Katie as she way and giving her what she truly wanted - a family.

All in all, an interesting story about learning to leave your past behind, accepting yourself and moving onto whatever your future holds.

**Sidenote: One little pet peeve I have is the use of Spanish in English books. Spanish is my first language and although there were just a couple of Spanish phrases, there was one that was completely off the mark. So for those curious to know 'little smartass' in Spanish translates to 'pequeña sabelotodo'. There isn't a literal translation for 'smartass'. Remember, Google Translate doesn't always get the correct context of a phrase.

This book broke my heart and by the end had completely repaired it. A few things Torn made me irrevocably aware of is the existence of fate/destiny. Sometimes your fate can be obtained quickly and it’s a smooth sailing ride with absolutely no problems occurring. Other times road blocks, dead ends and alternate routes get in the way but in the end you will always wind up where you are supposed to be. Also, no matter how much you try to keep something from someone or try to alter situations, the truth ALWAYS comes out.

Torn is about a girl named Katie who is a very sweet and innocent girl. She is smart and all her studies. Katie sees herself as an average, nothing special, female but doesn’t have any idea how truly beautiful and captivating she is. She really isn’t into boys, until she meets Branson Stone. Branson is this gorgeous, sweet, charming, male who only has eyes for Katie. Branson can pretty much have any girl he wants but he only wants her. She is unlike any girl he has ever met and he is completely intrigued by her. He wants to get to know her, all of her, inside and out.

When Katie and Branson make plans for a life together, she believes her dreams of marrying the love of her life, the house, the white picket fence and the 2.5 kids…all are finally going to come true. That couldn’t be further from the truth. When a past she has no recollection of haunts her to the point where it’s interfering with her current life, Katie goes to seek answers. She finds out her past was purposely erased from her memory to protect her. Add twists, turns, heart breaking memories, a broken girl and relationship and a new man to the mix and you have yourself one intriguing page turner.

For me, Torn wasn’t about the terrible, horrific situations that occurred in Katie’s life. It was about how no matter what if something is meant to be it will happen no matter what path you choose. Eleanor is a very intelligent writer. She is truly gifted to perform the delicate balancing act between fate/destiny as the focal point and for it not over shadow Katie’s terrible past. I recommend this book to anyone. You won’t be able to put it down. I can’t wait for what other intriguing plots Eleanor has planned for her next book.

What started out as a beautiful love story between a girl from a seemingly happy childhood and a sweet, caring, smart guy quickly turned into a heartbreaking story of hidden secrets, dark pasts, manipulation and heartbreak.
I was seriously swooning over Branson and his ability to say and do exactly the right things in very real ways. This wasn't a storybook romance with the perfect guy sweeping the perfect girl off of her feet. It was the story of two people who stumble into the love of their lives and look to be headed into their happy ever after. Until BAM! Their worlds are turned upside down by the revelation of Katie's past and Branson's shocked reaction.
I seriously wanted to punch that grandmother of Katie's and all of the lies and manipulation. I know it was supposed to be her way of protecting Katie from pain but it all just seemed really selfish and controlling. I don't know if I could have forgiven her for all that she had done.
Then when Katie and Branson are done she runs off with her grandmother and quickly rebounds with Aiden. Ugh. I didn't like him at all. Probably because I was already so far gone over Branson but still he just didn't do it for me. It really was baffling to me that Katie moved on so quickly after her and Branson's break-up but the way I saw it she wasn't really falling for Aiden but rather just trying to forget Branson. So it was sort of shocking that she struggled with trying to choose between the two.
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster but let me tell you it's a ride I would stand in line for over and over again.

If you want an emotional journey about love, loss, deception and redemption, then Torn is the book for you.

Eleanor Green encompasses all the hurt, pain, and betrayal young Katie has to face in the early part of her life. At times, the horror she has to endure is heartbreaking, but an angel in the form of her quirky, seemingly traditional, a little controlling, long lost grandmother chances all that for her.

As Katie gets her life back, she also gets a chance at a happily ever after with Branson stone. Just as it seems that Katie is happy, memories of her painful past resurface and change everything...even her relationship with Branson.

Forced to move on and rebuild her life again, she meets the charming Aidan, who seems like the perfect person to give her the future she deserves.
Only Katie's heart (and mine too) are torn between Branson and Aidan.

My heart ached for Katie because of all her hardships, but her journey and the way she handled herself with grace and poise even when faced with a crappy hand, made me believe that everyone gets what they deserve in the end.

Does Katie find happiness and peace with Branson, with Aidan, on her own? You'll have to read Torn to find out!

This book is not what I expected at all, in a good way. It's about a young woman named Katie, who has an amazing life. She is a great student at Yale, working toward the nursing program. She has friends and an amazing support system from Gram who has raised her. Her life is basically perfect. She meets a guy, Branson who sweeps her off her feet. But sometimes things aren't always what they seem and can always change at the drop of a hat.
I absolutely fell in love with the characters in this book, Katie, and Gram, to Branson and Pete. I loved every one of them. Katie is so strong, and beautiful, although she has trials and tribulations she stays true to herself. I loved how the story unfolded and you see why things happened the way they did. I hate spoilers, so i'm not telling! READ this book! Please, please, you won't regret it! I do hope that there will be more from the characters of this book, if only from Gram and Pete.

4.5 out of 5 Heart Clenching Stars!

[image error] photo Image_zps63263e38.jpg
I can not begin to express how surprised and delighted I was with this amazing debut novel by Eleanor Green! I didn't really know what to expect from this book, but I always keep an open-mind. I was enthralled by the emotions this book evoked in me. Right from the beginning you are provided with an incredible allure of mystery. I was undeniably hooked like a kola to her favorite tree. You are taken on an incredible journey to love...then are deviated to catastrophic devastation. I love when a new author just bulldozes me with an incredible, enticing, heart clenching story that hits me unknowingly. Where have you been hiding Ms. Green?

I don't even know where to begin. Katie Harrington is clearly a timid, hopeful, intelligent woman who studied diligently to accomplish her goals in school. She has everything in her life meticulously planned out, even down to when she will get married. Her only social life revolves around her best friend Maggie. She doesn't go to parities like the typical college students do, choosing to study instead. Her life takes a unsuspecting delightful turn when she meets Branson. They instantly connect and have all kinds of things in common. Katie and Branson are sickly adorable together. Their relationship progresses naturally and the sexual tension could melt the polar icecaps. The "meant-to-be" feeling was gushing all over the place when it came to their connection. Everything was progressing naturally between them, and even though she wanted to save herself for marriage, she felt that Branson was definitely the one and temptation just became to overwhelming to deny.

"He was strong enough to protect her, yet gentle enough to hold her and make her feel like she was the only woman in the world. She felt tears sting her eyes when the reality of her emotion hit her. She felt alive when she was with Branson, and when she wasn't she thought about him constantly. His eyes disarmed her, his dimples made her giggle, and his body sent an electric current from her toes to the top of her head whenever she came in contact with it."

While everything in her life seemed to be going perfectly, her emotions soon began to provoke something within her. She began having more and more reoccurring nightmares that she could not explain. She remembered things and people that she has no recollection of. The intensity of the dreams increased and awakened disarmingly confusing emotions in her. She finally decides to see someone about the dreams in attempt to get her life and sleep back on track. The therapist decides to hypnotized her in hopes she can get some answers. The hypnotherapy unearths a unbearable load of memories of her past. She recalls every torturous detail of her devastating upbringing. I have never been so animated while reading. You don't just get flashes from her past, you expierence every painful moment of it as she relives each moment. I became a pro of holding my kindle one-handed during the entire middle of this book. While one hand was designated on holding my kindle, the other one was firmly clenching my fist to my heart. It must have been absolute torture to go through all that agony in the first place, then having to relive it again must have been even more dreadful. The perfect life she thought she had was just one big lie, and now she had no clue what this was going to do to her relationship with Branson. I don't want to give away to many details and ruin it for the readers who haven't read it yet.

"Katie searched Branson's face, unable to read his expression. His lips quivered as he tried to contain his emotion. Tears pooled at his eyelashes, but she wasn't sure if he was angry, disappointed, or disgusted. She stood on wobbly legs and walked over to where Branson was sitting. His hands were clasped and his forearms rested on his knees. He wouldn't look at her when she approached, he remained still and tears spilled down his cheeks, leaving a pattern on his slacks. Katie inhaled sharply and tried to swallow the sob that escaped as she removed the ring from her finger. 'I'm sorry.'"

All kinds of desperate questions ran through me after she revealed her past to Branson. What would happen to them? Will this change who she is? Will he allow for her past to get in the way of their future? It was an emotional hail storm and I was desperate for the sun to break through the clouds for them. Katie's grandmother always seemed to find ways to interfere in other peoples lives. She took it upon herself to take Katie away for the summer so she can think things through. Her summer away helped her more than she thought possible. The thing that helped her heal came in a very unexpected package. I really didn't see it coming. I know I am being vague and a bit mysterious, but I would hate to take away from the experience that I had while reading. Let's just say, that while finding herself, another difficult situation is formed. She has to make some incredibly difficult decisions of what she wants her future to be.

"Remember the guy in the bar that wouldn't back off and you punched him?"
"Yes."
"After it was over you said...I was worth it-worth fighting for. You didn't fight for me this time, Branson. You gave up on us so easily. It hurt...you really hurt me."
"I know." Branson lowered his head shamefully. "I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you, if you'll give me the chance."

You know you have a read a really good book, when all sorts of emotions are thrust at you from every direction. I went to sleep thinking about this book and woke up needing to find out what happens to them. I really enjoyed the set up of the book. It was fantastically written and continued to surprise me the entire time. I am beyond thrilled that I received an ARC copy for this book. I hope that Eleanor Green continues to write more books like this one. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for more from this author. Go out and read this book...you won't regret it.

Somehow this book got buried in my kindle, I purchased it almost a year ago! I am absolutely kicking myself for waiting this long to find and read this beautiful tale. The whole cast of characters really allowed me to connect more fully with the story. Everyone from Maggie, Gram and Pete played a significant role in the shaping of the story. There was a little back and forth in the POV in the telling of the story (even within the same chapter). It flowed seamlessly and wasn't confusing to discern whose side of the story I was getting.

Torn follows the story of Katie and Branson. There was something about Katie that I instantly fell for. I'm pretty sure it was her vulnerability yet boldness. She knew what she wanted and made a plan to make sure she got it. That is until Branson Stone walked into her life. Oh Branson, sweet, sexy, charming Branson; he is the perfect boyfriend. I loved how he was drawn to her yet too shy to do anything about it initially. Thank goodness he overcame that rather swiftly. I loved his patience and caring when they were dating and that Katie got a side to him that his friends didn't. The proposal was perfectly them and in the right place. Branson really knew Katie and did everything he could to make the best possible future for them until an unexpected twist of fate steps in. This sets off a whole chain of events that changes the course of both Katie and Branson's lives.

I was not prepared for that first bit of heartbreak that Branson and Katie suffered through (neither were they). However, Branson was there to try and help his woman heal. When the nightmares she suffers from are realized to be memories, and they all come flooding back. Have the tissues ready, the whole box. The things Katie suffered through gutted me. Those scenes were heavy and intense (and they may be a trigger for some). I felt like I had been hit with a 2x4, punched in the face and left in the gutter to pick up the pieces. However, those moments were also treated with the care and delicacy they warranted. And they only solidified my like of Katie and her warrior spirit. When she confronted Gram and retold Branson what happened I just wanted to jump into my kindle and comfort her because she was once again reliving it through their eyes. From there things only spiral out of control. Katie is devestated and makes a run for it. She can't stand the way Branson looks at her, or doesn't look at her anymore and takes her shattered heart to try and pick up the remnants.

But you can only run so far until life, or someone steps in on your behalf to try and intervene. This was just one more time when I wanted to knock some sense into someone. Yes, it was done out of fear and love but that still didn't make it right. When she meets Aidan, she is wary but also ready to not hurt anymore. The chemistry between them is off the charts! But Branson was never far from her mind. She knew all along what her heart really wanted even if her head was trying to get in the way. I was rooting for Katie to come to her senses and see past the hurt to find the deep and true love that she shared with the man of her dreams. Thank goodness he didn't give up the fight, even when she wasn't sure what to do.

The conclusion had my heart racing. I was nervous for a bit there on who Katie would choose. I let out an audible sigh of relief for the choice she made. Both of the men gave her something that she wanted but only one could give her what she truly needed. The ending was perfectly suited for Katie. It could've gone in a multitude of ways but played out perfectly for Katie. Eleanor Green blew my socks of with her debut title. She ripped my heart out, put it back together only to do it again better than it was before. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves some drama and heartbreak thrown in with a sweet love story. I look forward to getting my hands on more of her work in the future.

**MEGAN’S REVIEW**

*4.8 Stars*

I’m almost sort of speechless. I’ve only just finished Torn and I can say this book sucked me in, deeply!! I didn’t stop until I was finished.

This book is so different and the same to what we are use to reading.

Girl meets boy…boy meets girl….they fall for each other-HARD…. see pretty normal right!!

NOT-Then things happen and the story takes a oh-so-what-in-the-world-is-going-on-here turn. It was such a freaking great ride.

I found myself high on a beautiful rainbow and then abruptly that rainbow disappeared and I fell straight to hell, then rode the grueling train to bright blue skies.

Katie was a girl I could be friends with. She “was” normal and didn’t “seem” to have issues we are used to reading about. Katie has lived a life full of good and bad. We meet her on her good slope but when we learn of her bad you can’t believe you are reading the same book.

Branson- I loved this boy. Immensely. I fell for him just as Katie fell for him while they are in college. They have very similar interest and likes and you see their connection and their friendship grow and the little things that make them fall in love with each other. I must say when a guy gushes about a girl to his friends it makes me smiles. Those first few new things in a relationship are some of my favorites to read about.
…can’t stop thinking of her, she’s awesome…. When a guy talks like THAT about a girl he is crushing on in front of his friends, I loved it!

Now this isn’t a spoiler bc it’s given to us in the blurb to suck us in. I never was against Branson. I totally get him and the way he reacted when he learned everything. It would shock anyone, everyone and hell I’d be damn speechless as well.

“I’ll always fight for you, you’re worth fighting for.”

I loved that he didn’t let anyone try to persuade him that they weren’t right for each other. His talk with her Gram- I wanted to HI-FIVE him through my kindle.

Katie’s memories have been ‘deleted’ from her real life but all of a sudden things start reappearing and we learn of Katie’s horrendous childhood. Let me tell you when it hits, IT HITS. You feel for her, you ache for her, you hurt for her. You want her to pull through.

You want them to pull through.

After the big reveal Katie and Gram take a little breather, and escape. This for one I’m not upset at Katie for. I think she needed to take a step back and feel out who she is deep down. The path that she took, away from Branson I didn’t like.

On this breather trip she meets Aidan. Now instantly I don’t like him, only because he isn’t Branson. But really he isn’t a bad guy. He is in the medical field, a surgeon so instantly, Katie’s nursing job connects them. He really falls for Katie but knows NOTHING about her. She thinks she’s falling for him. Until-

Until Mr Handsome himself finds her. Branson does all he can to track her down.

“So you’d rather live a lie with someone you barely know, than live in the truth with me?”

My rating of 4.8 is because of Aidan. I won’t divulge the exact reason it’s just a personal reason that I wish didn’t happen. So besides my personal slack from a 5 star this book seriously is a top notch story.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I finished this book last night...
STOP HERE IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE BOOK.

****SPOILER ALERT****

Okay, so it starts off with a sweet love story. Two kids meet in college, the relationship progresses, all is well until they meet each others family. Meeting his family went find but when he met her grandmother, this is where things started to reveal themselves. The grandmother exhibited this weird behavior that lets you know there are secrets being kept by someone you just aren't quite sure what is going on yet. I really fall in love with Branson here when he stands up to the grandmother who is trying to separate them. She backs off things progress as normal. Throughout this whole thing, Katie keeps having these reoccurring nightmare.
Anyway, fast forward...she finds out about her past and it was brutal (I wont rehash that) but when she goes home and reveals it to Branson he is in shock. Now, this is where I start to get pissed off. He is in complete shock, as is she, about what happened to her yet no one is processing anything. She just packs her bags and leave! WTF?! Hello, if you are so in love with him and I know you are bc the author has me totally invested in your relationship, then why arent you leaning on him for support, working through this, etc. So she leaves and doesnt say a word to him. She thinks he is rejecting her. She goes to grandmas.
The grandmother, well she was on my shit list for a majority of this book. Katie thought she was the sweet little grandma but all the while she was controlling Katie's life. It really ticked me off. Taking Katie to the cottage was nice and meant to give her time to heal but when Branson kept calling, why didn't grandma realize how much he loved her and know that Branson is what was best for her. Instead she tries hooking her up with Aiden who is hot, dont get me wrong, but that whole thing was a mess. I didnt like how quickly they moved and how much Katie had fallen for him in that short amount of time making her question what to do when Branson finally found her. Anyway, these are a few of my quirks with the book.
Things I loved: Branson. I loved him from the beginning for some reason and once their relationship started to progress I was totally invested. Invested to the point that once she left, my heart shattered. I knew he wasnt rejecting her, I knew he was just in shock, I knew he loved her and that once he got passed the shock he would be devastated. Overall I liked Katie. Things towards the 2nd half of the book seemed really out of character for her and I started to get irritated but for the most part I liked her. She was my favorite when she was with Branson, he brought out the best in her. The Grandmother. Well, I mostly disliked her but I do think that her intentions were maybe good and she did take in her granddaughter from the streets, never treating her poorly bc of her situation, and showed her the love she had been lacking all her life so kudos for grandma here.
I do have to hand it to the author bc I was drawn in from the beginning. I wanted to know what was going to happen next and hear Katie's story. It kept my interest without being totally over the top. The therapist in me wanted Katie to process her grief and her feelings in a more productive way rather than doing so with a rebound but hey, this is just a book ;-)

"When he caught her gaze, she let her eyes linger on his for a daring moment, feeling drunk from the woozy feeling that swam through her veins."

Katie Harrington was smitten with Branson Stone the moment she laid eyes on him. Up until this point in her life she didn't have too much of an interest in love. Katie was concentrating on becoming a nurse, she has her entire life planned out even had a set wedding date, though she didn't have a boyfriend. However, Katie is plagued by horrible nightmares they seem so vivid and real but she has no recollection of these things. Sadly Katie comes to find her entire life is basically a fabrication her grandmother("Gram") has created to spare her the pain of her horrifying past. Without going into too much detail, she finds out the truth about her past, confides in Branson and sadly they part ways. She tries to move on with a handsome doctor named Aidan Romero.

"How am I supposed to be alone with my thoughts if you're right next to me?"

However just when Katie thinks she has moved on, Branson reappears into her life. Now she has to make an important decision. She can either move forward in her life with her soul mate the man that knows absolutely everything about her. Her second option would be to move on with the handsome doctor and continue living the lie Gram has created to protect her.

"She needed to belong to someone. Branson loved her. He was every woman's dream of a devoted faithful husband. Aidan possessed her."

OMG I LOVE this book! At first I was confused by the way the book started but found myself wanting to know more. Why was Katie suffering with such awful nightmares?! Just by reading the book I could feel the love Katie and Branson shared. I was horrified when they broke up and found myself hurting and just dumbfounded. How could they be so silly to throw away true love? I was rooting for Katie the whole entire time and was happy she did what was ultimately best for her. Aidan, was also pretty dreamy the exact opposite of Katie and I sat back in awe of him as well. Though I found myself on Team Branson from the moment I read about him! When Katie finally came to grips with her past I was hurting and in pain with her. I really enjoyed reading this story and hope to read many more by Eleanor Green. I could feel the understand the closeness of all the relationships the characters shared in this book. I highly recommend this book but please make sure you are prepared to spend your day doing nothing else but reading, because you will not want to put it down!

***ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.***

The start of the book had me intrigued and I was hooked from the very first chapter. The story opens with Katie being seen by a psychologist. As you read I’m sure you’ll ask yourself the same questions as I did myself. What kind of tragedy happened to Katie to make her see a psychologist? Who decided to have her put under hypnosis and create a fabricated childhood? It all gets answered …I was almost too impatient to find out and debated skipping ahead in the book, but I didn’t.
Katie finished high school and went to college to be a nurse. She was a very outgoing, normal college student. She had her life all planned out. She focused on her studies and nothing more that is until Branson came along.
Branson has a solid head on his shoulders and is just a complete sweetheart. Who wouldn’t fall for him? I know I did!
Katie and Branson had the perfect relationship. They fell in love, moved in together after college and got engaged. All of Katie’s dreams are coming true. Along the way Katie starts having horrible nightmares which eventually lead her to remember everything of her past. Branson doesn’t handle it to well and freezes so Katie, taking it as a sign that he is going to abandon her, high tales it out of there and with her grandmothers conniving help make her way to the Outer Banks. While Katie is in the Outer Banks she meets and has a rebound relationship with Aiden. Again all thanks to her conniving grandmother. Will she get over Branson with Aiden’s help?
I never really liked Aiden, just something about his character that put me off. The whole time I was hoping that Branson would come for Katie already. Is she going to be torn between the two of them or is the decision easy?
The subject in this book was a sensitive one but the author did a fantastic job of shedding light on it. Katie was torn from her childhood by really horrific circumstances but she rises above and overcomes what is thrown at her. She is a very courageous young woman! No child or adult should have to endure the kind of pain that she went through. This was an emotional read at times but I loved it. The story line was well thought out and very engaging. It sucks you right in. The characters were fabulously written and in my opinion, exactly as they should have been. Eleanor Green did an excellent job on her debut novel and it is now one of my favorites. I’ll be on the lookout for more from this author for sure.

3.5-4 Stars

When I first started reading Torn, I wasnt really feeling it. Honesty sucks, but the beginning of this book was just way too sweet for me. Katie is so innocent and pure and her relationship with Branson was a little cheesy to begin with. About 25% in, I was pretty sure this was not the book for me since I tend to love darker books with more angst, though I kept reading. I’m so glad I did because around 50% this book takes a drastic turn! Once Katie’s memory returns I was floored by everything that this young woman had gone through. My heart ached for her and I hoped she could overcome her past. The nightmares and crazy flashbacks of anger from the first half of the book started to make more sense to me, and I found that I appreciated the first quarter of the book a little more.
I really liked Branson. I thought he was a sweet guy and the love of Katie’s life. Although I don’t agree with his reaction to finding out about Katie’s past, I don’t blame him. To have that much dumped onto a person is a lot and I don’t think she gave him time to process it all. She really pissed me off. I’m so torn about Katie and her running off to the Outer Banks, and don’t get me started on the grandmother. I really wanted to tell that lady to mind her own business. I think her grandmother’s intentions were good but she should have let Katie work things out on her own.
I felt like the time Katie spent in the Outer Banks was a little rushed. The timeline threw me off a bit and I wasn’t feeling her relationship with Aidan. I had hoped she would find herself without needing a man. The thing is, she doesn’t, and Aidan becomes an important part of her life. Ugh, I can’t say I didn’t like him because I did but I really wanted her with Branson so it sucked watching her develop feelings for someone else. When Branson finally finds her, she needs to make a choice. End up with someone who knows everything or hide her past and move on.

"So you'd rather live a lie with someone you barely know, than live in the truth with me?"—Branson

Torn is one of the better debut novels I have read lately. I think the timeline was a little confusing but the content was good enough to overlook the things that bothered me. As the story progressed, the writing got better and I look forward to reading more from this author. It isn’t often that a plot throws me for a loop like this one did and I really appreciated how different it is from other books out there.

This was a awesome debut for Eleanor Green. I was hooked from the first page and read it in a day. I really just couldn't put it down. It was engaging, lovely, romantic, heart wrenching, disturbing. frustrating and sweet

This is what I was thinking while reading this book

OK interesting
Awww
Awww
What what
Awww
Woh there
WTF
WTF
WTF
OMG
Oh nooooo
Ahhhh
Omg wtf nooooo
Yay
Nooo
Awwww
Awww

And in that order!!!

This book took me though a wide range of emotions!! While this starts out wonderfully and you think you are getting just a lovely story about a new couple meeting and falling in love, then bang!! Shit gets real and you are taken on a dark and twisted path. What happens when the one you love the most isn't there when you need him the most???

This was great, I loved Katie and Branson. I thought they were perfect for each other and loved seeing their relationship grow, it felt true and real and believable a quality that is sometime lacking in other books I have read.

Now how do I say what I'm feeling with out giving away any spoilers?? OK here goes I'm just going to jot down some random thoughts that will most likely mean nothing to you till you read the book.

*Gram is a bitch!! Hated her. thought she was a manipulating cow.

*Branson was awesome and I felt bad for him..I mean he wasn’t even allowed to react??? People deal and process stuff differently and that was his way, I think everyone was way to harsh on him.

*While I understand the need to get away and overall it wasn’t a bad idea to sort your head out but not the way Katie did it, also she never really seemed to sort out anything. She didn’t IMO deal with anything that happened to her in her early life and that felt unresolved.

*I hated Aidan, sleazy ass wipe, never liked him and HATED what she did with him!!!! I can not express that enough!

This was beautifully written and I fell in love with Eleanor Greens writing style and I will read this author again and again. She has a rare talent for writing believable and engaging characters and dialog, I cant wait to see whats next for her.

Torn is definitely unique in its content containing romance, heartache, action and suspense. This story takes us on a complex journey through the life of Katie Harrington. Katie makes it through her four years at Yale with intense focus and concentration. She is determined to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse and showing her grandmother how thankful she is for her love and care. During her senior year, Katie notices handsome Branson while playing tennis. After a carefully orchestrated introduction by Branson, they become a couple.

Thinking she has the happiest future in front of her, Katie can’t understand why she has flashbacks and intense nightmares plaguing her. As the pieces begin to place themselves back together, she discovers a past she never knew existed. With everything she thought she knew being questioned, Katie realizes her present is nothing but a fake existence. The girl she was is threatening to take over her future and erase all she has known.

While her Grandmother has been the only one to ever be on her side, her decisions have also created a lot of heartache. In the end, it is up to Katie to determine the direction of her life. She holds all the cards and can either fold or deal with the life she now has the chance to live. What will she do?

Author Eleanor Green has written an intense story filled with misunderstandings, sadness, gritty pain and hope. I rooted for Katie the entire way and wanted her to love herself as much as everyone around her did. She had every reason to give up once she found out the truth. Instead, she stepped away and took the time to discover what she needed out of life. Running is never the answer to problems, but she was able to come full circle to see she deserved a family of her own. She deserved happiness and for every crack of her heart to be molded back together with acceptance and love. Her life lesson was to believe she can’t change her past, she can only learn from it. She didn’t have to be labeled unworthy or give up on her dreams.

4 stars!

WOW WOW and WOW!!!!! This was my first book by Eleanor and I am still completely blown away. When I started this book, I had no idea was I was in store for and believe me this book will leave your mouth hanging open saying did that REALLY just happen??!!

When the book starts, everything is perfect. It has an amazing cute start to the story with a shy girl named Katie. Katie doesn’t drink, party, go out, or really anything else. Katie wants to graduate college and start her career and take care of her Gram. Everything is going great for Katie and she even meets a great guy, Branson! AHHH Branson is such a sweetheart. I loved him right from the beginning and he was so good to Katie. But Katie has these nightmares and can’t figure out why or how she knows the people in her dreams. Branson talks Katie into seeing someone and that’s when everything changes.

In the middle of the book, we are taken back to Katie’s past. IT WAS HORRIBLE. I felt so bad for this girl and my heart was hurting. I wanted to pick her up and hold her while she cried. I am not one for spoilers so you have to read to see what happens. Everything is not always as it appears and this book will shock you to the core.

When Katie tells Branson everything she remembers, he freaks out a little. Katie can’t take it and she runs right into the arms of Aidan. I didn’t like Aidan because I was always team Branson from the get go. There was nothing changing my mind. But Branson puts up a fight for Katie and shows her how much he really loves her. Don’t miss out on this book. It’s an amazing story. Lots of twists and turns mixed in with raw emotions and pure love!!

Torn was a book that totally sucked me in for the get go.

It started off as a pretty normal book situation, where the hero and heroine fall in love with each other, pretty quickly. Then it took a turn- and not in a good way.
Katie was a typical girl- sweet and fun. She is described as the quintessential girl next door.

Branson was a great hero, and I fell in love with him, so it’s no wonder Katie felt the same way. They are finding out they have some of the same interests and slowly start a great relationship, but not all is as it seems.

In the blurb- it states when all is revealed, Katie leaves. And that leaves Branson with many questions. The hows and whys of their relationship. He makes it perfectly clear, though, he will always fight for her- because she is worth it.
He knew she was right for him; he just needed to convince her.

Katie's memories have been stolen from her real life but all of a sudden things start reappearing and we learn of Katie's horrendous childhood. Ugh, and it is awful. I never wanted to hug someone through a book so much in my whole life. And after all is revealed, there is no going back.

After the big reveal Katie and Gram take a little breather, and escape. Which she needed. I was just so sad that she had to leave Branson to do it.

On this trip she meets Aidan. Almost instantly, I don’t like him. And its all Branson’s fault, but- he isn’t a terrible guy. He is a surgeon, and field, and Katie's nursing job connects them. He falls for Katie, without knowing a thing about her. But there is no way Branson can leave well enough alone and seeks her out.

I adored this book, and can’t wait for more from this new author, Eleanor Green

I am a little torn over this book. It took me reading half the book before I was able to get into it. It started out as your normal sweet love story where girl sees a boy and falls in love. Then it had a dark side and took you on a roller coaster ride.

Once all of Katie's memories were revealed that is when it started to gain more of my attention. I felt sorry for her at times and then there were times where I was just shaking my head. No child should have to live the way she did. Glad to see that she was able to get out of the dangerous life she was living and get on with her life as normal as she could. The secrets and memories were just waiting to come out.

Her life with her Gram was nothing but lies. Don't get me wrong. Her Gram loved her and only thought she was helping, but still. Katie's former memories were all erased and replaced with caring and happy thoughts. How could her Gram think she was helping her by having the memories erased. Didn't she think what would happen the day everything came flooding back to Katie? If that were me. I would be mad.

I was routing for Katie and Branson to work out. He was a caring, sweet guy who would do anything for Katie. My thoughts changed after the way he reacted when he found out about Katie's past. Even after she left him and the state of Maine I'm glad his feelings for her didn't stop and he made a point to find her. I was happy to see that he was able to redeem himself with her. They were both able to prove their love for each other and show Gram he was the right guy for her despite what Gram thought in the beginning.

Their happiness was the only thing that mattered in the end. The lies and memories were all a thing of the past.

Katie Harrington has endured a most horrific childhood. She's plagued with nightmares. When told that her past could be erased from her mind she has no reason to say no. She wakes from hypnosis excited about her future and has only the best memories of life with her Gram. Unfortunately the nightmares have not totally been cured.

Katie finishes high school and continues on to college. Life is good. Katie meets Branson, the perfect man. Just as they are ready to start their future together after college, Katie's past catches up to her. Her nightmares are becoming more frequent and distressing to not only her but to Branson as well. Desperate for understanding of the nightmares Katie seeks the help of Doctor. This is where the heartbreak really begins. It was so hard to read as Katie's memories return in flood to her mind.

Now that she knows all the details of her life she tells Branson the whole story. He's been so good to Katie up to this point and it's hard to blame him for his reaction. Everything falls apart. The biggest surprise for me though was how meddling Grams is. She causes so much trouble, in the name of love of course but still, if she had just let Katie make her own decisions a lot of pain could have been avoided.

I will tell you that Katie gets her happy ending but the road to happiness is definitely the road less traveled in her case. I also have to say I really loved how the characters that hurt Katie were dealt with in the story. Gram's friend Pete was one of my favorite characters in the book. I would definitely recommend Torn.

I don’t think I’ve read a book quite like this one. The twist had me holding my breath praying that it didn’t really happen. I loved the characters and the story line. Eleanor writes a book that will grab you and have you sitting on the edge of your seat. There’s drama, suspense and true love. The sexy scenes are sexy and tasteful. Many times I found myself so deep in this book, I lost all track of time. I would most definitely say I suffered from a “book hangover” after finishing this book.
I very rarely give my description of a book just because a synopsis should be enough but I feel this is just one of those books that’s too good not to give my description.
Katie is straight laced college student – she doesn’t party and she doesn’t date. Her best friend, Maggie, is constantly trying to get her to come out of her shell with no such luck. Until one day, she catches sight of one of the most gorgeous things on this earth – Branson Stone. He’s on the tennis team and a frat boy which makes you want to tell Katie to look the other, except Branson is not your typical frat boy. It starts out slow, everything you could ever hope for from a book boyfriend. He’s sweet, kind, perfect gentlemen and being good looking doesn’t hurt either.
Unfortunately, Katie is completely blindsided and everything she thought she knew about her life is an ugly, lie and the one thing she thought would be permanent in her life, is gone.
Trust me when I saw, you won’t regret one clicking this book!!

WOW....

I won an ARC of this book in a giveaway I entered. I had never heard of the author and had no idea at the time what the story was truly about, but I was excited to dig in.

Wow....what a roller coaster ride! This story is so filled with emotion. Terror, angst, love, heartache, hope, determination and perseverance are just a few of the emotions that you will experience. I'm sure I could fill pages of thoughts on this book, but I don't want to risk spoiling even one bit. So...on to my stars:

Star #1 - Excellent writing. The author made me 'feel' the story.
Star #2 - Not entirely predictable. Just when you are sure what is going to happen, a twist is thrown in.
Star #3 - Branson :) Great supporting character.
Star #4 - Multifaceted storyline. Other character stories were woven in nicely. (I love Pete!)
Star #5 - Stand alone with HEA. The story wrapped up perfectly.

I highly recommend this book! However, do not take the authors warning lightly....***Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.*** This book contains flashbacks of dark and horrific memories that will tear your heart up. But don't worry, it is pieced back together in the end :)

4 AWESOMELY CONFLICTED STARS! I was intrigued from the beginning with this book. The book did seem a little long at the beginning but I don't think I would feel the way I do about the characters if I didn't get the backstory to their relationship. Katie is a sweet innocent girl who is haunted with nightmares of a people she doesn't know and things that never happened. She goes to college and in walks handsome charming Branson. They just fit and work together beautifully. They get engaged and things seem to be perfect until she starts to remember things. Branson being a male doesn't handle this news very well and lets her walk away. She goes to heal and in walks Aidan a successful HOT local doctor. The chemistry between them is undeniable. Just when she starts to think that maybe she can heal and learn to find love again Branson shows up and fights for her. Who will she choose?! I was torn between the two guys since they each bring out different things in Katie. There was laughs, tears, joy, heartbreak, you name it was in this one. Definitely an enjoyable read.

Torn is simply incredible, beautiful and heartbreaking MUST READ to get lost in it.

Katie Harrington´s journey will bring a range of emotions from the reader.

Katie met Branson Stone the last year of college. They instantly clicked and they started to spend more and more time together. With tome they realized that the friendship was turned into something more deeper. They fell in love with each other.

The bliss of happiness didn´t last long. Katie´s past, the past that she couln´t remember, was coming back. She started to remember it bit by bit. She was having a flashblacks of the past.

And since that moment her life took another turn. Her journey was now a journey of self-discovery, acceptance and decisions.

This story keeps your focus and interest because it is different and more than that good.

Engrossing story that will tug at your heart strings.

Love it a bunch.

I can give this book 4 stars because I was highly pleased with the last 10% of the book. If she had gone the other route I would have been pissed. I loved that Katie and Brandon's love was so sweet and pure and not about the irresistible urge to hump each other nonstop. I think Katie overreacted when she told Branson about her past and was too quick to flee. If she would have stayed everything would have been alright and there wouldn't have been so much turmoil. Her past was pretty horrific. I kept thinking her family was part of the mob or something and she was sent off to be in hiding. Boy was I wrong. The ending was perfect!

From the beginning of the book until its end, I was on a roller coaster of emotions. Let me tell you THAT is what makes a book so GREAT. I fell deep into the book, anticipating the next page, next chapter.

This book is about Branson and Kari, you could tell they were destined for each other. Like any normal relationship, there were ups and downs. What made this book different were the circumstances. Despite that, overcoming the battles were in the sight. Or was it?

Filled with many emotions along with romance, Eleanor Green made this book worth reading until the end. Even then, you wouldn't want the story to end.

I give this book ☆☆☆☆☆
