Police Volunteer (VIPS)
 
Volunteer for a wide range of duties, including, but not limited to; abandoned vehicle and bike abatement, traffic control at special events or critical incidents, conducting citizen patrols and vacation home checks, graffiti abatement, and crime prevention/neighborhood watch. Must be able to work in all types of environments and/or weather.  Excellent customer service skills; flexible; able to type. Computer skills desirable.  Must be 18 years or older.
 
 Time Commitment: 2-4 hours/week; 12+ months.
 
 
UC Davis Party Ambassador Volunteer
The Party Ambassador program is looking for college student volunteers to assist us in managing noise problems, created by parties and gatherings, through the use of mediation. 
 
Volunteers will be trained, by the Davis Police Department, on how to respond and recognize violations of the city noise ordinance. Volunteers will be taught mediation and de-escalation skills. This position will involve approximately 22 hours of training. 

 
Downtown Host Volunteer
Downtown Hosts are volunteers who provide a friendly face for our downtown community, creating a warm, vibrant, welcoming atmosphere for visitors, workers and business owners. They will be on foot throughout the downtown core area of Davis to promote downtown Davis as an exciting, friendly and safe shopping, dining and cultural destination.  Hosts can help visitors to area shops, restaurants, cultural venues and historic sites while answering questions and handing out the Downtown Map & Guide.

 
Graffiti Abatement Volunteer
 
Check graffiti hotline, track and clean-up graffiti. Must be able to work in all types of environments and/or weather. Need to be flexible. Able to do physical labor. Must be 16 years or older.
 
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours/week; 6+ months.
Hosts will also act as "eyes and ears" for the Davis Police Department to control nuisance behavior, while reporting and documenting graffiti, deterring aggressive panhandling, deterring illegal bicycle and skateboarding on sidewalks, providing bike education and safety information to the public, and deterring public drinking and intoxication.
 
Hosts will work various shifts during the week. They will also be asked to assist during special events downtown such as, the Halloween parade, Tree Lighting ceremony and Picnic Day Parade.
 
Parking Enforcement Volunteer
 
Monitor streets and parking lots for parking violations, issue parking citations. Must be able to drive a department vehicle or parking scooter and  be able to mark vehicles. Computer skills desirable. Must be able to work in all types of environments and/or weather. Must be 18 years or older.
 
Time Commitment: 6-8 hours/week; 12+ months.
