Mold has been found at a Henderson County elementary school, and some parents are saying it made their kids sick.

Parents voiced their concerns at Monday's school board meeting after school officials found mold at Spottsville Elementary School.

The school says a main air conditioner went out, causing condensation that resulted in mold being found in the ceiling.

A mold remediation company came in to get rid of it before the start of the school year. They were able to get the air quality to an acceptable level, but some parents are still concerned.

A third party will be coming in to test the air quality on Friday. School officials say they're doing everything they can to address the issue.

"The safety of our staff and students is priority and so we take everything very serious. We don't take it lightly," said Danielle Crafton with Henderson County Schools.

The school nurse is logging and monitoring any illness that arises. There are humidifiers being used until a new A/C is installed.

The principle sent letters to parents on Wednesday explaining the issue. They are continuing to monitor the mold.
