The 2014-15 season was not very kind to the Devils, who won just 29 of 79 games after starting 3-0-0, but there were still some positives.
Those players will be highlighted below, as
I pick the team award winners for the second year in a row.
Art Ross: Adam Henrique
It came right down to the wire, but Adam Henrique managed to hold off Mike Cammalleri for the team lead in scoring with 43 points. Henrique has now put up 43 points in consecutive seasons, though he didn't lead the team in scoring last year -- Jaromir Jagr did.
Hart Memorial Trophy: Cory Schneider
This is an absolute no-brainer. Playing on a team that struggled mightily to score, Schneider had to be on his game every night, and he was. Schneider gave the Devils a chance almost every game while putting up Vezina-caliber numbers, as he posted a .925SV% in 69 games.
Vezina Trophy: Cory Schneider
Keith Kinkaid was excellent in his spot starts, but Schneider posted a better save percentage, goals against average, and was clearly the best goaltender on the team.
Calder Memorial Trophy: Damon Severson
While playing close to 20 minutes on a nightly basis, Severson contributed 17 points in 51 games, and had over 90 shots on goal. He was also a 50.3% possession player during 5 vs 5 play while the Devils were a 47% possession team without him on the ice.
Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy: Mike Cammalleri
Mike Cammalleri's point totals weren't mind boggling by any means, but he scored 27 goals - leading the team by 11 - in 68 games and was the only Devil able to fill the net on a consistent basis.
James Norris Memorial Trophy: Andy Greene
Andy Greene played the toughest minutes on the team all season long, and fared quite well. The Devils were a better team with him on the ice than without - even with him facing the league's best players on a nightly basis - and he was able to chip in 22 points despite rarely getting any power play time.
Frank J. Selke award: Travis Zajac
He definitely had a down season in terms of production - 25 points in 74 games isn't anything to write home about - but he was one of the better possession players on the team despite facing top competition and spending a good portion of the season with Jordin Tootoo on his wing. He may not have put up many points, but for the most part whoever he was matched up against didn't produce much, either.
