Boone County man dead, Belvidere man wounded in shootings

ROCKFORD - Police are investigating what appears to be a double shooting and the second homicide of 2014, Rockford Police Department Assistant Deputy Chief Doug Pann said in a news release.

A 24-year-old Boone County man was found dead in a parking lot about 2:50 a.m. Sunday after Rockford officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 1000 block of 9th Street.

Another victim, a 25-year-old Belvidere man, arrived at an area hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds, the release said.
