removed from my body - my central line.
(We called them my cancer cords.)
My central line entered my body through a hole in my chest.
It had two long tubes, which used to hang out under my shirts.
I used to scratch at the cords and the tape
that was used to keep my open wound covered.
My nurses soon learned to double-tape me,
so I couldn't pull the tape off!
If I got an infection in my central line,
I would get very sick, so it couldn't get wet.
It was used to administer my chemotherapy drugs,
and made it much easier to have my weekly blood tests.
This time last year, my central cord was removed!
I was finally able to get back in the water.
I wasn't allowed in the water for 9 months, so this was a great day.
This year, I still have 5 weeks until I can get back in the water!
This year, it's my casts stopping me from swimming!
Happy Cordless Anniversary!

Thank you. xxx
We were sure he would be lying, still, for 6-8 weeks.
Dexter has again proven us wrong!
He never stops moving!
He's moving more now that he ever was.
And, he's laughing.
His chuckle still melts our hearts.
We have no idea what he is chuckling about, but we don't care.
He's laughing... a lot... and we love it!
