Drifting into Darkness

I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, that there was a path we were all supposed to be on and the choices we made led us to those paths.

My path led me to work on the Johnson farm in Texas, where I met Landon, the owner’s son. He worked there during the day and raced cars for fun at night. He was a bad boy with a reputation that exceeded my own. The guy all the girls wanted to change, the one that hooked up with random girls because he didn’t do relationships.

He was exactly the kind of guy I wanted to stay away from, but there was something about him. It wasn’t just his looks, although they didn’t go unnoticed. There were layers I wanted to peel back and reveal. I wanted to know the real Landon Johnson.

All the choices I made led me to him and he would change my life forever.

I've had a passion for reading and writing for as long as I can remember. It has always been an escape for one reason or another. Now, I'm taking that passion and turning it into a book. My debut book Lifeless will be released late summer 2013. I can't wait for you to read this story that has been brewing in my head for over a year. :)

So I have to admit, not everyone is going to like this story. I know that when I got to the ending I was like “Whaat?! Are you serious?!” and was struggling between ranting and depression.

description

Drifting into Darkness simply tells us a story about life and all of its blessings and tragedies.

Landon and Sadie come from two separate backgrounds but find common ground in trying to take hold of their present and futures.

description

J.M. LaRocca does a great job in journeying us readers through their emotional upheavals and showing their fight to make some prospect of themselves and their love.

description

A delightful read but may not be everyone's cup of tea! I know I'm still reeling from my heart dropping on the ground!!

*I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review for the blog tour. Thank you!!

J.M. LaRocca absolutely killed it with her novel Drifting into Darkness. I don’t know whether to hug her or shun her after finishing this novel. She has mastered the ability to build me up and break me apart with this novel. I am in awe of this woman’s talents and have yet to wipe the shock off of my face long after finishing this fantastic read.

Sadie finds herself in Texas after life in Chicago physically and emotionally uproots her. Transferring to Texas A&M and relocating from the familiarity of her friends was never in her life plan, but after the unexpected she finds herself facing a fresh start. Although she doesn’t welcome this clean slate with open arms, she makes the best of her situation and works towards regaining the normalcy she lost. She never plays the victim or dwells on the obstacles thrown in her path. That’s what I loved about her so much. Sadie accepts life’s challenges and makes the best of what life offers her.

And oh boy does life offer up some goodies in Texas. Enter Landon Johnson. He’s the guy every girl fawns over yet none of them can wrangle. He’s unattainable, sexy, and at times stubborn as hell. Underneath it all, Landon carries a heavy burden of guilt and regret that have shaped him into the man he is. He sacrifices his dreams and goals for the betterment of his family’s farm and happiness of others. I loved the chemistry and playfulness between Sadie and Landon. Their witty banter back and forth and easygoing dynamic made me smile as their connection blossomed throughout the novel. Each character contributed aspects of their personality, which seemed to complete and heal broken parts of the other person. Their relationship is beautiful and will make you swoon.

I started Drifting into Darkness after reading an emotionally heavy read. This novel was shaping up to be the perfect cure to soothe my broken heart, as it’s full of redemption and romance that mended my soul and made me smile. With progress come setbacks. Prepare yourself for emotional struggles as this story is predominantly heartwarming, there are obstacles and challenging moments that will have you in tears. I won’t give away any twists, but I will say this story is phenomenal and well rounded. There are both peaks and valleys to this literary gem.

I applaud J.M. LaRocca for taking a risk and writing a novel that will both inspire and ignite a myriad of emotions. Drifting into Darkness is a hidden treasure I urge you to one-click and experience for yourself. It will have you hooked from the start and keep you captivated. While your heart will remain intact by the end, I promise you will never be the same.

WHY? What did just happen? I’m heartbroken …

I loved this book from the beginning to the end. It’s well written, the story is captivating and the characters are wonderful.

Sadie has just moved with her family after her father had an affair at the hospital where he was working. She herself just ended a six years relationship and now she’s nursing a broken heart.

She doesn’t know anyone and she misses home.

When she meets Lisa they click instantly and become good friends. Through her, Sadie will meet the man who will teach her to trust, to love again and, most importantly, to follow her dreams.

I don’t even know what to say. Sadie and Landon’s story will captivate you and keep you up all night while you’re unable to put it down. It was like that for me.

This is a great book, at least in my opinion and you should give it a chance. I’m warning you, keep tissues close by because you’ll need them by the end. What I don’t understand is why it ended the way it did. Even so, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Great job, J.M. !

Sadie's a firm believer that everything in life happens for a reason, so when her path crosses with bad boy Landon she knew there was some reason behind them meeting, all choices in life led her right to him and he would forever change her life..

"There were layers I wanted to peel back and reveal, I wanted to get to know the real Landon Johnson, not the one he should to the world."

Two halves of a broken heart, mending themselves together

Sadie's father was the main reason why their family had to uproot and make a new start in a new town..This was her chance at a new beginning, a whole new clean slate..

It's kind of like "The Fast and Furious" around here, minus the Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.

"I wasn't blind to the fact that I was working with a very delicious guy, a beautiful man with a beautiful body.

"I race because I love it, I love working on my car and making it better, perform better, the rush is unbelievable."

"He made my blood boil, my heart race, and he caused my nether regions to clench with need, we just clicked."

I really enjoyed this story, it just left me wanting a wee bit more though, maybe more emotion after what happened (review is without spoilers) towards the end I just felt it was a wee bit rushed..I guess I just wanted more depth..

A Forget me not with a heart in the middle of it has a huge significance in this story

4 Still Processing Stars

I am not usually one for making big predictions. I didn't hoard water and toilet paper on in 1999. I don't make signs welcoming aliens. I don't win the March Madness bracket or bet on the Super Bowl based on some elephants choice of watermelon. But I am going out on a limb here and making a prediction that Ms La Rocca is going to piss some people off with this book. I loved Ms La Rocca's first two books. I might love this one too. I'm just not sure. I am still processing.

Sadie is in transition. She has recently moved to College Station Texas with her family. Her parents are having a bit of trouble in the marriage department. They have decided to stick it out but needed to start the family over away from their former lives. Sadie and her long time boyfriend have broken up. She has discovered that she was naïve while they were together. Like really naïve.

Six years....wasted. No, not wasted. It was a six-year life lesson.

Landon is the sexy farm boy/race car driver in town. He has his own private army of blonde bimbos at his disposal.

And this guy is a Hottie McHotster with a chocolate shake on the side.

When Sadie takes a job on Landon's farm, they become friends....of a fashion. She is totally distrustful of men and especially those with a bunch of blondes following him around. Can they make a relationship work? They both have lots of issues. Landon makes Sadie want to take a chance. Sadie makes Landon want to be with one girl. All the time. Forever.

I'm a believer that everything happens for a reason. We may not know what those reasons are at the time, but there is a path to follow.

And now to the pissing off portion of our program. I don't do spoilers, but lets just say....people will be talking. There are several parts of this book that had me doing the big...WHAAAA? First was the inaccurate portrayal of Texas A & M, the town and the former students. No Aggie would just answer "yes" to the question "Have your graduated?' Aggies know the correct answer to this question includes the words "Proud Fighting Aggie Class of..". Ok, so that is not what most people are going to focus on. But I can't tell you what will make you gasp. That would be so wrong of me. And I am still processing over here people!

Well, damn, this book just took me out of my happy place, and into somewhere between crying fat tears and wishing I could change the story. This is not to say that I didn’t L-O-V-E this story I just wasn’t expecting it….

Sadie moves to a new town to restart her life. After a mistake that can’t be taken back and after a broken heart, she needs to find somewhere to settle in and just breathe. Working on a farm wasn’t what she expected, and neither was Landon. There’s definitely some instant attraction, but with a attitude coming from one of them and then mood swings from the other, of course it’s not just hop into bed time. Their relationship takes off though and the love these two shares is absolutely wonderful. But all stories must have a twist, right? And nothing is ever set in stone.

I think I fell out of my chair when I got to the end, it’s that good and unexpectedly…ugh…I cannot even give you a word for it, because that alone WILL give the story away, but I must say if you’re into a big tear jerking, steamy, irresistible love. Then this is for you.

4 STARS!!

After finishing this book, I had to take some time to think before attempting to write this review. I was totally blindsided by the ending. I didn't see it coming, at all.

Sadie was dumped by her boyfriend of six years and her father was caught cheating on her mother. She decides to leave Chicago and move to Texas with her parents to start her sophomore year of college at A&M. Even though she's sad about leaving her best friend behind, she really needs a fresh start.

During registration she meets, Lisa, a bubbly blonde dating one of the notorious Johnson brothers and they strike up an instant friendship. Lisa gets, Sadie, a job at the Johnson family farm where she meets the oldest Johnson brother, Landon. He's a player with a constant stream of girls throwing themselves at him.

Sadie has lost her trust in men, so she tries to hide her attraction to Landon. But, that doesn't last long. As she gets to know him, she discovers they have a lot in common. They both feel trapped by their parents' expectations and push each other to go after their dreams. Not to settle for the lives others want them to live.

I liked the characters, but I didn't really feel the connection between Landon and Sadie. The story was really promising, but I think it could have been so much more, especially the ending. It was pretty shocking and story seemed to end too abruptly. I felt a mix of emotions, but mostly disappointment.

This is the first book I've read by J.M. LaRocca, and it was an honor to beta read for her!

Sadie has to be one of my favorite heroines. I liked that she didn't make excuses for why things happened the way they did in her life. She believed that everything in life happens for a reason, and those words proved to be true when she crossed paths with Landon. But things didn't start out as smoothly as one would hope. It took a lot of time and patience on Sadie's part before Landon finally showed a side of him that no one had seen before.

While signing up for courses at a new school, Sadie befriends Lisa, who works at a local farm with her boyfriend. Lisa offers to help her get a job on the farm, but little did she know she'd be working beside bad boy Landon, who had a bit of a reputation for hooking up with girls and lived life in the fast lane. It's clear that Sadie is attracted to him, but seeing how her last relationship ended, she isn't looking for anything serious. Landon can be a dick at times, but after peeling back his layers and allowing himself to open up to her, they develop a friendship that quickly turn into more than either of them expected.

I don't want to go into too much detail because I want everyone to enjoy this book as much as I did, but the end…OMG...gut-wrenching doesn't even begin to describe what that ending did to me. I really enjoyed reading Drifting into Darkness, and even cried like a little baby (I'm not ashamed to admit that!). Sadie and Landon's story is one that will stick with me for a very long time and I highly recommend it!

If I had to use one word to describe this book, I’d use unforgettable. Landon and Sadie are characters that you easily fall in love with. J.M. writes her characters with so much emotion it makes you feel like you are a part of each one of them. Their problems, triumphs, happiness and sadness consume you while you are reading the pages of this book. I was moved in so many ways, upset, intrigued, happy, sad, angry, but most of all I felt the power of love.

I personally fell in love with characters in books because they are flawed just like everyone else, and just like normal people, Landon and Sadie have their issues. What makes a story (and life) so captivating is how people overcome and deal with the problems. It’s amazing to read if they will let those problems make them or break them.

You need to give this book a try and trust me, you won’t be disappointed. This one will stay with me forever, beautiful story with so much emotion. Thank you J.M. for giving Landon and Sadie’s story to us to cherish.

Let me start by saying-that this lady, JM La Rocca knows how to write. This book reached into my heart and touched it,with so many emotions. I have to say that, "Drifting into Darkness" is now one of my all time favourite books!
This is Story of 20 yr old "Sadie" and her Family and 24 yr Old "Landon" and his. Separately these two characters have both been through something very emotional. They are both still both struggling to heal and move forward with their lives when they meet. They both are also battling between what they want for their future and what their parents want them to be as well.
This beautiful story of "Sadie and Landon" is full of Love and life lessons. Reading "Drifting into Darkness" you will go through every Dam Emotion you have!
I know, I will never forget this book,it has touched me THAT much. It is totally a MUST READ!!!!

Found this story flowed. Enjoyed the characters. The chemistry Landon & Sadie had was good. After reading other reviews, you knew something sad was going to happen. For that reason there wasn't a HEA but I guess that's what makes this story different. A life lesson about change, living, loving and living after loss.

Sadie and Landon’s story is one about living life to the fullest for yourself regardless of the past or the people you love holding you back with their own expectations. It’s about healing what’s broken due to past relationships and having the strength to reach for a future that you want no matter what. It’s not an easy story to read due to the emotional journey J.M. La Rocca takes her readers on, but it’s one that will leave a lasting impression for some time.

Sadie Taylor is a twenty year old college sophomore trying to recover from a broken relationship as well as a family move that puts her in a new town with parents who are going through a rough patch and without her best friend. For the most part, she’s a strong and confident woman who isn’t afraid to tell it like it is when the moment calls for it; the only part of herself that she does hold back is her trust; the two men she gave it to (her father and her ex-boyfriend) abused it and ended up shattering her world. According to her, Sadie is through with guys because she doesn’t want her heart to be ripped apart again, but then again, she made that declaration before she was introduced to Landon Johnson.

Landon Johnson is a twenty four year old man whose passion for cars and racing is in direct contrast to his father’s desire for him to take over the family farm. Landon understands family duty and works hard to keep the farm running, but he definitely wants more for himself than to live on this land. For the past few years, Landon’s life has been about his work and his women, but there’s definitely more to him than meets the eye. Landon’s playboy persona is not who he truly is, but a tragic experience has left him a shell of his former self, and this is who Sadie meets when she starts to work on Johnson farm.

Despite a rocky start, Sadie and Landon’s relationship grows, and they soon find themselves mending each other’s broken hearts.

Drifting into Darkness is an emotional read that will leave readers a bit conflicted with the events that occur. The writing is flawless because it absolutely illustrates all the love and passion Sadie and Landon feel about each other and about living. There’s a great life message throughout this book, especially at the end and it 100 percent shows that life is about so much more than existing.

It has been a week since I finished reading this book and I am still struggling with how to write this review. I will say right up front that not everyone will like this book- when I finished it, I was torn between throwing my phone across the room and throat punching the author. Fortunately neither urge won. This book made me ugly cry and I was downright pissed at the reason behind it. Whatever you do, don't read this story in a public place. Consider yourself warned!

Sadie is a heroine that I enjoyed- she is smart, sassy and likeable and is trying to recover from 2 recent betrayals by important men in her life. After being forced to move from a big city to a small town in Texas, she is struggling to find her footing again. She meets Lisa at class registration at the university and they hit it off. When Lisa hears Sadie is looking for a job, she invites her to the Johnson farm to see if she can handle the work there.

Landon Johnson is the son of farm's owner, the guy women want and that men want to be- oh did I mention his passion is racing cars? He works on the farm out of obligation and duty to his family but he longs for a life and career far away from the farm. Sadie initially tries to ignore him as she has sworn off men for a while, but after working together day after day, they start talking more and become friends before moving on to becoming more.

I did enjoy the book for the majority of the story and it kept my interest- hence the small issue of ugly crying my eyes out on my lunch break at work when I picked it back up to continue reading with a few spare minutes. I immediately sent the author a few seriously unhappy comments like "WTF WHY DID YOU JUST DO THAT TO ME??!!" And "OMG I effin hate you so much right now!" And the evil witch laughed at my pain! She also added me to her discussion group to commiserate with others in the same boat so I guess I will forgive her- but I won't forget JM!!

Bottom line- if I had known how it all played out, I would not have read it willingly or I would have put it off until I mentally prepared myself for it. Those of you who have read my reviews know the types of stories I prefer and this isn't it. But at the same time, if I hadn't read it, I would have missed out on a great story. So take that for what you will to make your own informed decision.

5 UNFORGETTABLE STAR THOUGHTS

SPEECHLESS! That is how Mrs. LaRocca left me! This is one of those stories that will stick with you FOREVER!! Absolutely one of my ALL TIME favorites! It has taken me days to gather my thoughts enough so I can even begin to write my review! Major Book Hangover! (I know too many exclamation points… but it deserves a TON!!!!) I will never be able to do it justice, but I shall try! Because you MUST read it ASAP!!!

"This was a new beginning for me, a clean slate."

After moving to Texas, Sadie is determined to have a fresh start. While registering for college she makes an unexpected new friend. Lisa works at the local farm that her boyfriend's family owns and offers to help Sadie get a job. When Sadie accepted, she didn't expect to have to work every day with Landon! (Sexy Cowboy mixed with a man who likes to drive fast cars…. OMG) Landon has a reputation in town and Sadie is not interested in a relationship. . . No matter how much she is attracted to him.

"So, did you leave a boyfriend behind when you moved?" he blurted.
Heat rushed to my cheeks as he asked his question. He definitely took me by surprise. "No, actually. Why? Are you applying for the job?" I asked as my cheeks flamed hotter.

Although he can be a complete jerk at times, Sadie finds herself drawn to him. And soon they have formed a great friendship. But that quickly turns into something more. Fate has brought them together for a second chance at love. Can one person change your life completely?

"This is why you are so special to me. There isn't just anyone who could talk to me and make me see reason. You make me feel it…here," he said, bringing our joined hands up to his chest, over his heart.

I don't want to give too much of the story away because it is AMAZING! And unlike any story you have ever read! I was an emotional mess throughout the whole book. From the highs to the lows, J.M. LaRocca had my undivided attention! This is a story of love, friendship, moving forward, broken hearts, healing, and second chances.

This is my first novel by this Author (I know… I was shocked too) and it won't be my last. Drop what you are reading and start Drifting into Darkness TODAY! I will never get over this story…ever!

“Drifting Into Darkness” J.M. La Rocca
4 out of 5 stars

This is a book you can really sink your teeth into! La Rocca’s characters are fun and engaging. The story is full of love and heartbreak, joy and pain, and all the discovery that comes with growing up. Once you pick this one up you won’t be able to put it down!

Sadie is the new girl in town. Her family has come to Texas looking for a fresh start after a scandalous year in Chicago. Unused to the country lifestyle and the heat, Sadie feels a little out of her element. Much to her surprise she makes a new friend quickly and Lisa introduces her to the people who will change her life forever!

I really liked Sadie. She’s a well thought out character and La Rocca has taken the time to develop her properly. There is the perfect balance of back story and current action to keep you fully invested in the plot and quickly turning pages. Sadie knows who she is and what she’s not willing to deal with. She’s quick-witted, spirited, and honest. I found her very refreshing and very interesting.

Landon, as her love interest, has all the makings of the next literary heartthrob. His intensity practically smolders off the page and I definitely wanted to get to know him better. He is a force of nature in every scene he finds himself in. La Rocca made him a true alpha male, yet with a subtlety that is fresh and new. I thought he was an exciting character and a perfect match for Sadie. They possessed great chemistry and I was fully invested in their love story.

My only criticism is in the ending. The story itself is very well written and moves along quite fluidly. However, the ending is very abrupt. I felt like we were just getting into the “juicy” part of the plot and then I read “The End”. It’s my understanding that this is a standalone and I really wanted more resolution to the story. Perhaps La Rocca will revisit this group of friends in the future. Despite all of that, I would recommend the book. La Rocca has written a moving story and it is a great read!

AN AMAZING MUST READ…RAW HEART-WRENCHING, TEAR JERKING, AND TESTIMONIAL OF THE POWER OF LOVE…

Drifting into Darkness is a beautiful story about sometimes having not only the physical strength, but also having the inner emotional strength of two people bonded by the strings of love that holds our hearts.

Sadie is a twenty years old college student that has recently moved with her family from Chicago to Texas unexpectedly. With the twisted turn of events in Sadie’s life, she feels she needs a fresh start in her life.

“…we all need a little bit of love in our life, You’re young and pretty and shouldn’t stop living your life just because of one asshole.”

With a new plan on life, she transfers to Texas A&M where she meets Lisa while in the registration office. Sadie and Lisa immediately become friends. Lisa not only shows around the town, but also is able to obtain Sadie a job at the Johnson Ranch. Dexter Johnson, Lisa’s boyfriend, and Landon Johnson, Texas playboy, both work the family ranch.

When Sadie meets Landon, twenty four year old man whose family owns a farm, she cannot help ogling over the hunk of muscle standing in the cowboy boots. Landon attracts many women in hopes they can rope him, so they could brand them as theirs. Unfortunately for the ladies, the hot cowboy cannot be tamed easily. Landon is fighting an internal turmoil of sacrifices.

Author J.M. La Rocca romance novel, DRIFTING INTO DARKNESS, has done an AMAZING job writing an EMOTIONAL LOVE STORY capturing your HEART and SOUL immediately unable to put the book down. I am not very emotional, but reading DRIFTING INTO DARKNESS had me in TEARS from the beginning so have your tissues ready. You will feel a roller coaster of emotions of LOVE, LOST, COMPASSION, SADNESS, ANGER, DISTRUST, FORGIVENESS, and FRIENDSHIP. DRIFTING INTO DARKNESS is A MUST READ, and is a novel I will MOST DEFINITELY be reading AGAIN and AGAIN!

“He was the kind of guy that stayed with you always. The one that changed your life forever."

This is my 5 star review for Drifting into Darkness by J.M La Rocca for Eskimo Princess Book Reviews.

Drifting into Darkness follows the path of Sadie, a twenty year old college sophomore trying to find her path in life. She tells it like it is and for the most part she doesn’t hold anything back. The only place that she finds herself holding back is with guys because of things that have happened to her in a past relationship. When she meets Lisa at college registration she doesn’t know that it will lead her to the one person who changes her life forever? Will she be able to let down her walls for the notorious Landon Johnson? Will working a long side him every day be more that she can handle?

Landon Johnson is a twenty four year old man who is set to take over the family farm. He works hard for his family and plays hard with the ladies on his off time. He never really has to chase girls because they always come to him. Landon hasn’t always had everything go his way though. He knows how it feels to have tragedy strike. He finds himself captivated by the beautiful new city girl working on the farm. Will he finally find the girl who makes him live again?

OH MY GOSH, this book broke me and I don’t know if I will ever recover. I loved Sadie and Landon’s story. There are so many things that I could say but I don’t think my words would be enough. You should get this one and read it for yourself. Landon will take you down a path of no return. The writing was awesome! There were no editing issues that I could find and the plot was heart wrenching. Now if only I can get my heart to recover. I am hoping upon hope for another book. I would love to not only have this story continue but I would also like to read Derek and Lisa’s story (hint, hint).

Thank You J.M. La Rocca for sharing Sadie and Landon with us. I look forward to reading more from you in the future!

The Author says it best with this quote “He was the kind of guy that stayed with you always. The one that changed your life forever.”

In Drifting Into Darkness, Sadie had moved to Texas after some problems had happened with her family caused them to move. She could have stayed in Chicago to continue on with college but after a 6 year relationship had ended, she made the decision to go along with her parents.

She meets Lisa, a friend I think everyone would love to have. Sweet, fun to be around, and one who helps you find your way. Through Lisa she starts to work at this family farm.

There she meets Landon.

Love his name. I fell for Landon right away. He doesn’t do relationships and always has girls vying for his attention. He is sexy, confident, and everything you want in a country boy.

I loved the chemistry between Ladnon and Sadie, she didn’t fall at his feet like the other girls. She was outspoken and good humored but not in your face. I loved these characters. I loved all the characters.

I was so entranced in this book, reading it quickly, totally engrossed, and then BAM! the ending happened.

That is what it is taking this from a 5 star book to a 4 star to me. It is not what the ending was but how it happened that is changing the rating for me. If I had a bit more time to absorb it, to work through it while reading before the book was over, it would have been so much better for me. It just felt like here is the ending smack in your face, a couple of pages of epilogue, and done. There was no time to work through the emotions.

You don’t want a spoiler in the blurb but man, I wish there was a warning system in place that said may cause whiplash

Up until that point, the last few pages, there was awesome character building, a beautiful story about too people who had been hurt in different ways, who were working through those issues. It was such a lovely story.

I really liked it minus the abruptness of ending and I definitely will be reading more from J.M. La Rocca.

Thank you so much for my copy that was gifted to me to facilitate this review.

Let me start of by saying, I am the loser blogger who had not read Jennifer LaRocca's books. Any of them. I went into DID completely blind knowing nothing about it. I like it that way. No spoilers, no assumptions, no swaying my mind. I honestly can't tell you what I expected but it definitely was not to find ANOTHER book boy to love to hard.

This story opens up with Sadie Tager moving from Chicago to Texas for a fresh start. New school, new environment, new life. While standing in line at admissions she meets an outgoing forward friend named Lisa. Lisa offers her to come hang with her and also a new job at the local farm who happens to be her boyfriend's family. Of course she fails to mention her boyfriend has a hot, single, farming, lady-pantie-dropper brother named Landon Johnson.

Landon is one of those book boyfriends you know is the man-whore-never-settle-down-all-the girls-want-him and he's knows it type BUT you love and root for him anyway. You can't help it. He's just so dang delicious. There were times when I wished I was in this story and I could "work" with him. He's just that yummy.

Landon is VERY misunderstood. There is a darkness. A story. A reason he is the way he is. Sadie is the one girl who doesn't swoon and fall all over him. Of course, this makes him want her and once he decides that- she's in for it. Of course, Sadie sees a side to him that others don't get to see.. He opens up to her, confides in her.

This story will bring out so many emotions in you. I laughed, I swooned, I fanned my self, I cried.
Honestly, up until about 70% I would have rated this a 4 star for me.. I was enjoying it but needed more. Then around 83% - 4.5 because we get the heat;). Then around 94% - I asked for more and I got it.
HO-LEE-MOTHER-OF-ALL-WTF.

IN THE END- 5 STARS. 5 BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN-I LOVE LANDON JOHNSON AND WANT TO HAVE HIS BABIES STARS.
Thank you for sharing such a touching story Jennifer <3

Wow! This book had my emotions all over the place. The characters and the story line drew me in from the very first page. The street racing and drag racing world is something I was involved in when I was in high school and college so I knew exactly what the characters were talking about. Everything felt very real and I was glued to my tablet for the whole book.

Landon and Sadie had a bit of a rocky start but once they got to know each other they really clicked. They both have very vibrant personalities and really bring out the best in each other. Throughout the whole book they both show a lot of personal growth. Landon is the sexy bad boy racer and Sadie is the new girl who starts working on his family’s farm. I really liked both of them. They felt very real and I instantly became attached to them. Even their friends and family were great too and the whole group was fun.

The is definitely a book about growing as a person and living you life to be happy. It evokes a lot of emotions but in the best possible way. I don’t want to give anything away but I will say that I even had some tears in my eyes at a certain point and to be able to pull that reaction out of me is truly a feat. I can count on one hand the number of books that have managed to do that. This was a heartfelt journey and I really cherished the opportunity to read this story. I highly recommend it. 5 out of 5 stars!

This is a powerful story. Sadie is an incredible character. Strong, outspoken and ready to start living. With her family’s move to Texas this is her time to start new. To let go of the anger and frustration and heartbreak that was everywhere she looked in Chicago. Throughout the story she steps outside (way outside) her comfort zone often to be surprised by the results. Opening up her mind, and definitely her heart for where life is going to take her.

When we meet Landon he’s an a$$, a hot one but still standoffish and rude. He’s got his reasons. He’s also fiercely loyal and funny.

So many amazing scenes- the job application with Sadie and Landon, Sadie’s first day working on the farm, Sadie getting caught kissing Landon by his dad…the list goes on and on. The whole blonde girl craziness was hilarious.

Sadie and Landon fit. They both put their all into their new relationship and it is great to read. But I kept waiting. For the old bf to show up. For someone to cheat or get a wandering eye. Knowing this was a standalone I was happy to see that around 70% all was well.

They both have matured, found each other and are happy. Really happy. Living in and for the moment!

Then the end. I couldn’t breathe from the tears. I’m tearing up writing this review two days later. Bold move that keeps true to the story JM LaRocca has given us. But damn, completely unexpected.

Sadie and Landon’s love story is worth the read-funny, tender and oh what an ending!

Wow. That's all I can say after finishing this one.

Sadie moves to Texas after her dad takes a job. She is all to happy to move after her fiance up and decided to join the Navy basically without discussing it with her and then breaks up with her shortly after. She's ready for a change.

While registering for classes at A&M, she befriends Lisa who not only invites her out to dinner but also finds her a job.

Working on a farm is the last thing a girl from Chicago thinks she'd be doing but that's where she finds herself. Once she gets over the smells and the scorching heat, she realizes that it's not that bad. Especially when there are distractions like Landon walking around.

Landon's family owns the farm. He is hot and he knows it. And if he ever forgets it, he has a gaggle of blondes following him around every minute of the day ready to remind him.

There is so much more to both Landon and Sadie than either of them realizes. There is a reason why Sadie is so rough to get to know and a reason why Landon is such a playboy.

I really really enjoyed this book. I read it basically all in one sitting.

While some may hate the ending, I think it was PERFECT! That's all I'll say about that, I will not give anything else away!

J.M. La Rocca just oozes talent. She has a way of making the words flow so easily that you just can't help but read until you read that last word. And even then, you want more!
