Knox and Charlotte's story.

When Knox Wellington opens the door to Charlie Davenport, he's not expecting the fiery brunette with whiskey colored eyes and a feisty personality. Sparks fly immediately, even though their initial meeting is nothing but hostile. Their chemistry is undeniable, but the chip on Knox's shoulder threatens to destroy any hope of him wooing the sweet, southern volunteer sent to help with his rehabilitation.

Little does he know she's no Southern Belle, as she gives as good as she can take. As unexpected circumstances push them closer together, heads butt, patience is tested, and flames ignite as they dance around their mutual attraction, both of them jaded from broken pasts.

They've both been burned before, so when their feelings of lust, desire, and wanting are inflamed in the heat of the moment, will they finally be able to get over the pain of the past or will their relationship be reduced to ashes before it can ever really begin?

*While this book is a standalone, characters from Ignite, book 1, will appear in Knox's story.

FIVE SWEETHEART STARS.

description

Well played Tessa Teevan, normally the first book of a series gets the crowning glory, but wow 'Incinerate' swept me off my feet. This story has it all and I'm not shy to confess that I fell in love with Knox and Charlie's roller coaster ride love story. This is a novel not to be missed. Here are my gushy, 'I'm in love with Knox' book thoughts ...

What's it all about?
Knox Wellington has dealt with a lifetime of disappointments which have led him straight to the firm conclusion that there is no room for relationships or love in his live. Returning to his hometown after an injury sustained from fighting for his country this angry and lonely soldier expects life to continue in the same way as it always has. But Knox never anticipated Charlie Davenport to walk into his life, this no-nonsense beauty plans on helping Knox with his rehabilitation but they both get more than they bargained for when attraction and lust start to make an appearance and this 'tough with love' soldier might have to think twice about whether or not he will finally close the door on love. Knox and Charlie have both experienced heart break but can they both move past the pain to move forward to a life together?

What did I love?
The slow burn, heart-in-mouth relationship build up completely grabbed my attention. I loved that I believed the relationship between Knox and Charlie, every interaction, each layer of sexual tension, all the witty and sexy dialogue all came together to create a story line and plot that made me so engrossed that I didn't want it to ever end. I was really impressed that the author kept the attention on the main characters but also wrote the book in such a way that former characters slotted right back into the story line without taking away any of the limelight from Knox and Charlie. Everything about this tale showed that Tessa Teevan had really thought about the characters lives and she leaves the reader wanting more after each book in the series. Knox was utterly delightful, I loved that he was a damaged manly-man not ready to accept that he needed love in his life, his point of view really won the story for me, I felt like as the story progressed that I really got to know him and by the end I was crowning him as my favourite Tessa Teevan hero to-date. Charlie is a feisty, go get 'em heroine, there was nothing that I didn't love about her, she stood her ground, and she brought more than a pretty face to her role as the leading lady. When Charlie and Knox finally got down and dirty it was fireworks in the sky, 'lock up your significant other' style sexy, nothing could have dragged me away from my kindle through those blush worthy scenes. The more sexy times the better for my reading tastes and this author is an expert in turning up the extra heat in her novels. Unsurprisingly Knox and Charlie were not exempt from a whole lot of bump and grind, I don't know which was hotter the anticipation of the naughty bed time action or when they finally gave into their lusty temptation. Tessa Teevan really set the scene for a gorgeously put together love story, There was nothing rushed or forced about this couple's relationship instead she created a witty, heart-felt and at times laugh out loud storyline that has plenty of substance and swoon.

Final thoughts ...
Tessa Teevan, is one of those authors that as well as being a talented writer she also loves to read and like the rest of us she understands the feeling of getting lovey dovey about a series that is just too addictive to be true. I adore this series, this author and this book and I can't wait to read about Lucy and Kale in book three of the Explosive series. Do not take my word for it, if you like a slow burn, tantalisingly yummy story with a damaged hero and a feisty heroine than you do not need to look any further. Seriously go grab this book on release day and clear your diary you will not want to put it down. Enjoy ... Kisses.

5 Rugged & Sweetheart stars!!!!!

 photo 06835024-a7c9-422a-b215-7fd0698195e9_zps7f1c9e57.jpg

You want to know what I love? Reading a second book in a series that is better than the first. It’s a wonderful feeling to love the first book in a series, then get to the second and love it even more! That’s exactly whats happened to me with Tessa’s Explosive series. Ignite was a fantastic debut novel. If you haven’t read Jace and Lexi’s story, I highly recommend it. But Incinerate... damn! I more than loved it! Knox and Charlie’s story is amazing! One to go on my ‘must read books’ shelf for 2014!

Knox Wellington defuses bombs for a living. It’s his job and he’s good at it. After an injury while in the field, he’s home for a while to recover. The last place Knox wants to be is holed up at home injured. He’s not a happy camper. Knox is estranged from most of his family, but his little brother has been trying to help him out and finish medical school at the same time. It’s not working well... that’s how he meets Charlie Davenport. The second time anyway. The first time is at the bar with Jace and his brother... after his conversation with them, he’s not in the mood to talk to any woman. Ever since he was burned in the past, he’s not even looking for one.
“I know that girl messed you up, but one of these days you’re going to meet someone that will make you stop being so damn cynical all the time, and I can’t wait for that day to come.”
“Never gonna happen.”
“Famous last words, Knox. Famous last words.”

Charlie Davenport spent her life with a father in the military. Now that she’s grown, she works helping soldiers with their benefits. She also volunteers on the side to help soldiers in need. She’ll be there for company, help with their shopping, cleaning etc. The night before meeting her newest solider, she goes out with her friend and notices a gorgeous rugged man.

 photo 1583413d-e8ca-4328-aee7-a9d962d4b524_zps7fb7499d.jpg

She is into rugged man, but he sort of blows her off. Charlie tries not to let it get to her. She goes to volunteer in the morning and imagine her surprise. It’s Rugged Man. The guy from the bar. He is her solider. Knox couldn’t be more surprised to see the pretty girl from the bar at his door the next morning. What is she doing here? He is more than a little shocked that the guy, Charlie, his brother told him about it the Charlotte from the bar. Knox is not happy. He doesn’t want anyones help, especially not hers.

Knox and Charlie have a rocky start. Both are insanely attracted to the other, and both have been romantically burned in the past. Charlie caught her ex-fiance cheating on her recently. Knox’s first love left him... for his older brother, causing the rift in his family. His brother and Megan are actually married now. They fight the attraction they have, but it’s hard. They try to stay platonic, and they butt heads a lot, but eventually they form a friendship. They are civil to one another, even help each other out a bit. Charlie shows Knox what happened to him was probably for the best.
“I think it was a gift. Imagine if you’d ended up married to her and she later on decided you weren’t enough. Look how close I was to coming to what really would’ve been the biggest mistake of my life. Be thankful she got away, Knox. I know I am.”

My favorite thing about this book is how Knox and Charlie’s relationship develops. They go from the constant back and forth butting heads, to friendship, to more. It’s a great paced progression. The more they see each other, the more their feelings become apparent. For the first time in a very long time, Knox wants to try something more with someone.
“I want to be able to call you mine for real, not pretend. Charlie, I want, I need, you to be my fucking girl.”
 photo 351f483b-7347-45e2-a5a0-4633b27c5787_zpse322b253.jpg
“This isn’t a one night thing. This isn’t roommates hooking up. This is you and me. This is us. Falling into place, the way we’re meant to. And I’m tired of fighting it. I don’t want to anymore.”

Throughout the book there is so much build up and sexual tension, when they finally get together, it’s so right. And SO FREAKING HOT.

Charlie and Knox... there is something to be said for equally loving the hero and heroine, and thats exactly what happened here. Charlie grew up with a father in the military. She’s tough, independent, confident, and doesn’t take anyones shit. She’s also a sweet, kind and giving woman. Knox is just Knox. I don’t even know how to describe him. He’s Rugged, he’s sexy, delicious and all alpha! Knox Wellington is a new book boyfriend to add to the ever growing list! And then there were the nicknames. Got me every time! Rugged & Sweetheart- I just adored them!

Incinerate was everything I love in a book. Lovable and relatable characters, a fast paced storyline, gradual build up between the two mc’s, a solid connection and smoking hot chemistry! This book has it all. A beautiful story with the perfect amount of humor, steam, romance and emotion. I truly enjoyed every page of this story. Looking forward to the next book in the series, which will be Lucy & Kale’s story... after meeting them in Incinerate, I can’t wait!

“I can’t get enough of you. I hate when you’re not around, I’m stifled when you’re gone. Like you’re the air I need to breathe, the air I’ve needed my entire life, because until you, I wasn’t whole. I shut everyone out, but you worked your way in, little by little, and now that you have, I feel like a new man.”

I'm mentally slapping myself on the head for not reading this book sooner because this was just the type of sweet read I usually enjoy.
Knox Wellington needed help. Recuperating from an extensive injury which temporarily left him with limited mobility, Knox Wellington needed him. Enter Charlie Davenport. Because of his past experience with his ex girlfriend and the injury he sustained in the war, Knox wasn't the easiest person to get along with. But Charlie had a strong, feisty personality which left Knox intrigued and interested. But because of the giant chip on his shoulder, their relationship got off to a shaky start.

You all know me. I love me some slow-burning romance and Incinerate was a slow burn. Knox and Charlie, despite their attraction, didn't give in to it immediately. They started off as adversaries and then slowly became friends and then lovers. I loved those transitions. I loved seeing things slowly changed between them.

Of course, Knox was every bit as stubborn and obstinate in denying his feelings for Charlie. But I love him. He made this book for me. I am not much of a hero-centric reader but Knox, with his grumpiness and gruff exterior was just fun to read. I've always enjoyed reading about stubborn heroes, or heroes who fall hard in spite of themselves, and Knox fit the bill perfectly.

Apart from Knox, the heroine in this book, Charlie, was also wonderful. She's tough and she's every bit as stubborn as Knox. Some of their "fights" were hilarious. I liked how Charlie was able to loosen him up and showed him how to enjoy life again. Their chemistry was through the roof.

Incinerate is a perfect blend of sweet and hot with wonderful main characters you can't help but root for. Readers who are looking for something for an enemies to friends to lovers type of story would definitely enjoy Incinerate.

You know when you read a debut book by an author and really like it, you are waiting with bated breath to see how good the second book will be. I was not disappointed with this second book by Ms Teevan. I seriously liked Ignite but I seriously LOVED Incinerate….

He’s sweet, he’s an ass, he’s warm, he’s cold. He flirts, he scowls, he drives me absolutely crazy, but dammit if my heart doesn’t melt when he smiles.

I absolutely loved Charlie and I loved Knox but these two together were just a treat.

Knox is back home in Tennessee after being injured overseas. He has some rehabilitation to get through and guess who his volunteer helper is? Yep, Charlie, sassy, sexy, takes no shit from anyone, Charlie Davenport. There is a rift between him and his parents and older brother due to something that happened over ten years previously.

Jesus, I’m half fucking dead and she’s still haunting me

Charlie was my kind of girl. Independent, intelligent, loved her Romance books….

I have an extremely low tolerance for bullshit and I don’t like to waste my time.

Loved the banter and the wit between these two. Yes, it is a slow burn for them. The attraction is there but both have been hurt in the past. Knox swears he will never find love again. What was it your friends said, Knox – FAMOUS LAST WORDS.

This guy has lost his mind. He is seriously delusional and I’m questioning the validity of the assessment that he didn’t suffer brain damage.

Their first meeting was short and sweet, their second meeting was brilliant. LOVED IT. I knew I was going to love the book when we got to that part.

Hell, with the way my dick is having massive bipolar disorder right now, I know I definitely can’t go there right now, no matter how hot she is and how bad I want to

I won’t say too much. Just dive in and read it…. But read the first book in the series too as you meet up with the characters from there.

"I knew you’d be able to follow orders better than my daughter," he says, grabbing a Guinness and handing me one one …

I loved her Dad and the great relationship she had with him

Holy fuck, I have no idea where this inner sap is coming from. All I know is that I mean every word

It’s all Hank, Johnny and Waylon

Love a girl who loves her Country Music….

Won’t say too much more so you can just enjoy it yourselves…. Nearly forgot to mention that the sex was smoking hot too.

MY FUCKING GIRL

Think I went a bit overboard with my use of the word "loved" in this review.... a bit repetitive but what can I say, I LOVED this book.

… and yes I got my Epilogue!

3.5 GET OVER YOURSELF STARS

This is the story a guy named Knox who joins the military mostly because he caught the so called "love of his life" screwing his brother. So he enlisted and left for 10 years but is forced to come home when he is injured in battle.
This guy is definitely not my idea of an alpha hero at first. He is still hung up on his ex Megan. For example he says this about her "Thank God she hasn’t shown up at the house. She’s still so damn beautiful and it hurt to look at her when she came to visit me. If Lexi hadn’t made her leave, I have no idea what I would’ve done."
Yes, so he is obviously not over her and after 10 years!? He is still treating women like unworthy hookups and easy lays. He still has a huge chip on his shoulder. He is still the sad as$hole he was when he left 10 years ago except he is now 10 years older.
BUILT A BRIGE AND GET OVER IT ALREADY!
description
Personally, guys like this I find annoying and serious childish!
GROW THE HELL UP!
Life is not always fair, so deal with your sh*t.
It took him over 2 months of Charlie living with him, for him to figure out how awesome Charlie was, and how luck he was that she even wanted to be with him. He behaves indifferent and casual!
He shoots her down at the bar and is still thinking of his ex for 10 years ago!!!So yeah, I officially hated him for 90% of the book! Honestly, I really thought he was a major asshat and not worthy of this amazing heroine Charlie!

Now Charlie, my dear Sweetheart Charlie, was an AMAZING and AWESOME heroine who deserves a round of applause!
description
SERIOUSLY, SHE SAVED THIS BOOK FOR ME!
She was not going to be his punching bag and she took NO bullsh*t from him at all.
She calls him on it straight out "Let’s get a couple of things straight here, asshole. First of all, when I introduced myself to you last night, did I say, ‘Hey, sexy, I’m Charlotte. I want a good fuck and you look just like the guy to give it to me’? Well, did I?”
And then she goes further to say: "So second of all, did you ever ask if I have a boyfriend? Not that it should matter to you since you blew me off when I simply told you my name, but did you ever ask if I had a boyfriend?”
And finally she tells him: "...thank God you’re so fucking noble that you won’t sleep with another man’s woman. Seriously. Fucking kudos. I’ll have to get you a cookie for that.”

Yeah,so I officially had a complete girl crush on this heroine!
description
SHE WAS JUST SO KICKAS$ HONEST!

For me she really is everything a woman should be. She is passionate, forgiving, strong, confident, but she can also be kind, caring and loving.
I would have stopped reading the book about 30% into it if it wasn't for her.
I was honestly ready to say THIS IS NOT FOR ME!
description
The hero is NOT my favorite but he does do something amazing sweet at the end that has me going....ahhhhh!
description
Now I will be brutally honest with this review and say I would NOT and will NOT read this book again, but I don't regret reading it.
And HELL YEAH I will read more books from this author. Her heroines are awesome but her heroes are a work in progress. I just hate the progress I guess.

Forgot to mention the Playlist which I ADORED.
The epic Epilogue and bonus scenes, which I LOVED!
Safety; no cheating but one goodbye kiss from the heroine to her ex Drew that gets blown out of proportions by the hero, no condoms she was on the pill. Some OW/OM drama but nothing major. The hero rejects the heroine at the beginning and she pushes him away near the end.

“And that’s my motto. Fuck them all, care about none."

Perfer et obdura; Dolor hic tibi proderit olim

“It’s Latin for ‘Be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you."

"Like you're the air I need to breathe, the air I've needed my entire life, because until you I wasn't whole."

“She’s engrained in my mind. She’s in my heart—fuck, she has my heart—and it wasn’t until now that I truly realize how much I’ve come to need her”

What I loved about this book was the swoony rugged man was no stranger to disappointments in life, love and family. I connected with him instantly. Here was a man that was going to make mistakes but he definitely was going to own up to them and then sweep me off my feet. PROMPTLY ❤️ The relationship between Charlie and Knox seemed realistic and vivid. Their chemistry was off the charts and their journey to discovering their need and love for one another was beautifully written. This book was a perfect blend of sweet steamy, rugged meany, humor and wit, emotions and love, friends and some fantastic supporting characters! I love when a book series just keeps getting better! I loved Jace and Lexi in Ignite ....Now I am on full alert for the next book in the series ... INFLAME ....this will be Kales's book. ♥♥♥♥♥ 6 Rugged Knox Wellington Stars ♥♥♥♥♥

Incinerate by Tessa Teevan is the second book of the Explosive series. If you haven’t read her first debut book, Ignite, I suggest no scratch that I urge you to go One-Click Ignite on Amazon. You do not want to miss out reading Jace McAllister and his first love, Lexi. Plus, you also don’t want to miss out on the hilarious term of “BC.” You are probably wondering what does “BC” stands for. Curious Right?? Then what are you waiting for and go read Ignite. For those who have read Ignite, you were introduced to this character called Knox Wellington. Well, in Ignite, lets just say for all intents and purposes, Knox has some issues when it comes to love so he wasn't the friend you would go running to for advice on matters of the heart. So when I found out Incinerate was going to be about Knox, lets just say I was beyond ecstatic. I may **ahem** have done a happy dance!!! <3 To say I was beyond excited to read about Knox is an understatement, because I have always been drawn to male characters who are a bit damaged. I was so ready for Ms. Tessa to unravel the mystery and secrets of Knox Wellington. Well let me firsthand tell you, Tessa Teevan did not disappoint. Hands down I will proudly say Incinerate will knock your socks off and is my favorite book of the series. Yes, I love Incinerate more than the first book. As much as I love Jace, I f**cking love love Knox Wellington. Personally, he is 2014 book boyfriend!! Incinerate had everything I could want in a book and much more. What’s not to love about a book that has a bad ass heroine, a rugged swooning Alpha male hero, playful and witty banters, and of course HOT steaming chemistry that cannot be contained. Trust me when I say Knox Wellington will have you combusting and exploding with desire, love, and have you smiling like a Cheshire cat. One word to describe Incinerate would have to be PERFECTION!!!

IncinerateOverlay

incinerate collage

Incinerate starts off with a BANG!! Literally, I think Ms. Teevan likes to stun and hook her readers with the opening line of the prologue. Once you start reading, be prepared to devour this book in one sitting!! Knox Wellington and Charlie Davenport will consume you. I absolutely 100% f**cking love these two hard!!

Knox Nathaniel Wellington is simply a complex man who has been burned by his first love Megan Caldwell Wellington.. Yes, you are not reading it wrong. Megan’s new last name is Wellington but she came about this by marrying Knox’s older brother, Branson. To say Knox was hurt is an understatement, he was pissed and I don’t blame the guy. In order to break away and escape, he joined the US military. Years have passed and has hardened Knox’s outlook and heart on love and trust. He goes through years of using and banging women for pleasure with no strings attached. Knox is not a relationship kind of guy. He doesn’t trust women. Picking off where it last left off in Ignite, Knox is recuperating after an explosion leaving him badly injured. Since Knox will need physical assistance, a volunteer is sent to help him with his day to day needs.

incinerate6

Charlotte Davenport aka Charlie is not your typical Southern Belle. She is sweet, beautiful, and charming but what makes her stand out is that she is one feisty and sassy lady. You do not want to mess with Charlie Davenport. Having been raised by her single father, Wade, she is more of your tom-boy heroine. She likes to have a good time, box, hang out with the boys and her friends, drink beer, and is avid college football fanatic. Sounds like she has a perfect life. Right? Well, the only thing that is missing in Charlie’s life is love. Like Knox, Charlie also has been burned by love. Her fiance, Drew cheated on her with the “help.” So what does a girl do when you have been burned by an ex, you go out with your girlfriends and head out to a local bar and have a great time.

Incinerate3

Dun..dun..dunn… Well guess who shows up at the bar is no other than Mr. Rugged, himself, Knox accompanied by his best friend, Jace and his younger brother,Cohen. When Charlie spots him, lets just say at that moment she was ready to play naughty nurse. So when Knox makes his way to the bar where she happens to be standing by, Charlie introduces herself to him but Knox brushes her off and informs her he’s not interested. To put it mildly, Knox was no gentleman. The next morning, a volunteer was scheduled to arrive to help out with Knox since his brother, Cohen has to head back to college. Guess who shows up at his door? Well you guess it, Miss Charlie Davenport.

Incinerate1

Already starting off on the wrong foot, Knox is stunned that the brown-eyed beauty is going to be his aide. Charlie, being the strong and independent woman puts aside her issues with Knox and decides to take her job seriously. So on the first day, Knox takes his cocky and abrasive personality to another notch when he sticks his foot in his mouth yet again. Charlie, being the tough girl, has no problem standing up for herself. She doesn’t take crap and gives as good as she gets. Two smartass and strong personalities equals lots of witty and sarcastic banter with tons of sexual tensions.Oh the sexual tension and chemistry between these two were just palpable from the moment they first laid eyes on each other.

Incinerate4

As Charlie and Knox got to know each, their mutual attractions to each other was felt throughout each scene they interacted. The slow burn of their relationship, witty banter, and sexy dialogue are what made INCINERATE stand out from other stories. There was no “insta-love” between the two. Through friendship, they got to really know each other. Charlie slowly unraveled years of heartache and disappointment that has surrounded Knox’s heart. She was able to tear down the walls. The once damaged man soon became a man of romance and a “rugged” prince charming. What made him stand out was that he knew when to own up to his mistakes. He was the perfect balance of alpha male and sweet. With Charlie’s love, he was able to forgive and open up his heart.

Incinerate5

What I love about this book was that Knox and Charlie’s story was well paced. Knox was the total package. He was sweet, understanding, loving, and of course the perfect rugged Alpha male. I never felt Ms. Teevan rushed their story. For Charlie to understand and accept Knox, in his all his flaws and imperfections, shows that she really loves and cares for him. What I love about Charlie was that she was no damsel in distress. I absolutely love and adore her for her strength, loyalty, love, feisty attitude and independence. If I could shout on the rooftops on how perfect Charlie and Knox are, I would. The LOVE Charlie and Knox have could be only be described as explosive and off the charts. Another added bonus was that the author was able to incorporate Jace and Lexi into the storyline and also introduces us to Cohen, Wade, Kale and Lucy. For fans of Jace and Lexi, you will be treated to their wedding day. <3 <3 What was remarkable was that these secondary characters played an important and integral part of the story but didn't overshadow Knox and Charlie.

incinerate

Incinerate8

You know you read an awesome book when you can happily say that you wouldn’t change anything about the book and wish the author didn’t have to end their story. Well, Incinerate was one of those books for me. When I say everything, I absolutely mean everything. Knox and Charlie are the perfect pair. I fell in love with every word, banter, conversation, and interaction. Most importantly I fell in love with every thought, action, and love they evoked. Tessa Teevan did a fabulous job in writing and developing the relationship of Mr. Rugged and his Sweetheart. She was able to incorporate wit, humor, laughter, love, family, friendship, romance, acceptance and forgiveness all in this book. What I truly love about this author is that she writes a beautiful story that grips you, touches you and stays with you. Incinerate took my heart, twisted it around, tore it to pieces and taped it back together. Knox and Charlie clearly demonstrated that love has the power to heal and to not be afraid to say something. They showed us that there is nothing wrong in starting with a blank page and rewriting a new future together. Knox and Charlie made us realize that "LOVE isn't always perfect. It isn't a fairytale or a storybook. And it doesn't always come easy. Love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, fighting to be together, holding on & never letting go. It is a short word, easy to spell, difficult to define, and impossible to live without. Love is work, but most of all, LOVE is realizing that every hour, every minute, every second was WORTH it because YOU DID IT TOGETHER."-Anonymous

Incinerate2

So what more can I say that I haven’t yet said..Oh yeah!! Go read Incinerate and the Explosive series. You will regret it if you haven’t had the chance to meet Mr. Whispering Rugged Man and his Brown-eyed Sweetheart. If you want a book to make you FEEL then I highly recommend Incinerate. Plus, you don’t want to miss out on those hot steamy scenes.. Ahem.**cough** there might be a little splish splash, car, against the wall action and a little gyrating dance moves. =) On that note, I can’t wait for Inflame which will focus and center on Kale Montgomery and Lucy Dawson. I’m ready to meet the fun and playful Kale, who reminds us all that kale does a body good. **wink**

5 Rugged STARS

Well, in this case, the second time was even better than the first! This was a re-read for the release of the re-edited version with two added bonus scenes coming out on July 21st.

I’m upping my rating from 4 to 5 stars because it was just that good. I remember loving both Knox and Charlie the first time around but this time, these two on their own and as a team just robbed me of my heart and soul. LOVED THEM!!

Knox is seriously all alpha and sex-on-a-stick and Charlie is sexy, sassy and independent. It was so easy to adore and connect with these characters.

 photo incinerate_zpsp0nzzsef.jpg

This is a slow burn romance. It’s obvious that these two have off the charts chemistry but each of them have been hurt and it takes time and patience for these two to fully open up to each other.

“I want to gouge his eyes out in one moment and then rip his clothes off in the next. He’s sweet, he’s an ass, he’s warm, he’s cold. He flirts, he scowls, he drives me absolutely crazy, but dammit if my heart doesn’t melt when he smiles.”

The witty banter between these two was hilarious and I thoroughly enjoyed their inner dialogues. But what really stood out was how searing HOT these two were together. Talk about an incineration!!

If you’ve not read Tessa Teevan or this series, I highly recommend you do but start with the first book. If you’ve already read it then you know what I mean. I haven’t read book three, got sidetracked somewhere but this re-read was the perfect lead up to Inflame, Lucy and Kale’s story!

5 Rugged Man Stars

Knox Wellington has had his share of heartbreak. His high school sweetheart, the girl he thought he would marry left him for his older brother. This deceit was all it took for Knox to say no to love and relationships. Now if you are looking for a good time, he is your guy.

"Fuck them all, care about none."

Knox left home at eighteen, joined the military and never looked back and he didn’t plan to until he was injured overseas. When he comes home after being injured and almost dying, everything changes for him. He begins to see things differently. His life has been full of good times, but he has never had love or someone to care about him.

Charlie Davenport’s life was completely on track until her fiancé cheated on her. Charlie isn’t your typical girl, she was raised by a single father who is an officer in the military and surgeon. He taught her to be strong, fight for what she wants and not take crap from anyone. While she is heartbroken she tries to look at the positive and see the train wreck she avoided.

Out one night with her friend, she is left to her own devices when her friend leaves her for a guy. At the bar alone she sees the sexiest most rugged looking man walk in. Not one to hit on men, she decides to go against her instincts and take a chance when he comes up to the bar. This is Knox first night out after being injured, he isn’t in the mood for anything so he turns her down..in a not so nice way.

The next day Charlie is starting her new assignment for the the Wounded Warriors project she volunteers with when she sees Knox again. She typically works as a caregiver: running errands and helping around the house. Things go a little differently for Knox and Charlie, because despite both of them having walls up they can’t help but get under each other’s skin.

"He’s sweet, he’s an ass, he’s warm, he’s cold. He flirts, he scowls, he drives me absolutely crazy, but dammit if my heart doesn’t melt when he smiles.”

Charlie feels the need to protect herself after being shot down by Knox, she assumes she is not his type and doesn’t want to embarrass herself. Knox doesn’t even know how to feel about Charlie. It has been so long since he looked at a girl and wanted anything more than one night.

"And I swore to myself that I’d never let anyone back in again who could make me feel that way. It’s been easy, too. Until Now. Until Charlie.”

I loved the back and forth with Knox and Charlie. They are both stubborn and strong willed, and both of them have been hurt so neither is ready to put themselves out there and get hurt again. But they also have this undeniable attraction to each other and possessiveness.

Finally, one night their feelings are pushed too far and they both cave. Now they have to decide how to move forward. Do they start a relationship or go back to the way things were? Despite their choice they have so far to come. Knox hasn’t been in a relationship in eleven years, his only one was in high school. Charlie had her trust and faith destroyed recently. Both of them have the same issues and have to learn to overcome them together and trust each other.

Like all of Tessa’s books they have the perfect balance of sweet, sexy and humor. I literally was laughing out loud while reading this, but the humor isn’t over done. It is perfect, it really allowed me to identify with the Charlie. She is just a regular girl trying to figure out what to do next. Knox Wellington is seriously hot as sin and I freaking loved him! He was the perfect balance of possessiveness and charm, and so freaking hot!

This love story felt real to me. It wasn’t insta-love, because they developed a foundation with friendship and trust, then allowed their attraction to be apart of it. I loved how Knox took control and made Charlie feel safe and cherished. I highly recommend this one!

Also….can’t wait to start Kale and Lucy’s story!!

4.5 Hot, Steamy, Building Up Just The Way You Want Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
I am not going to do a huge build-up of how deep and thought-provoking this book was... because even though there were actual issues addressed and important touchpoints to think about... Who am I kidding...

This book was a Hot, Steamy read that just got better and better with every page I clicked. This was the type of book which a lot of authors try to write... and fall short. It is not that it is so complex, although a lot of things such as betrayal, lost trust, family issues, and cheating are all addressed and in a very clear and smart fashion.

No, the reason this works is these characters work.
The female lead has a strong personality and doesn't take any shit. She knows pretty much who she is and what she wants in life even though she has been hurt. She has a healthy relationship with her dad and has learned how to adapt and deal due to being an Army brat. She is pretty secure in herself.

He is the prototype of the strong alpha man that readers adore... has not only been cheated on but it was done by his own brother with his girl... so betrayal and cheating have slapped him with a life lesson which he has taken to heart. He has built walls so hard and tall for over 10 years, they could be towers of steel surrounding his heart. He is a wounded warrior but able to recover to be a healthy active man. He has strong Army brethren to kick his ass and one brother that cares. With these elements, we are set for him to meet this woman and we are off to the races.

This book works because the two of them are written so well with dialogue and situations which make believers in us... the chemistry bubbles and gurgles every time they interact. We are also given a slower timeline which allows this to percolate rather than the usual insta-lust/love.

Yes, they are hot for each other in their heads .and we are privy to it with his and hers POVs...but things do not happen in 24 hours like other books...we get to experience the ramp-up and it is delicious.

So think of the our cover guy....this is our man in all his glory; our gal is an equal match in the looks department- curvy but strong; actually boxes and kick-boxes at the level of sparing with the guys... so she is definitely hot... we have these two and they work through this attraction to each other as friends first... slowly sharing their hurts...she leading him to see things differently...he getting under her skin but her being careful.

Once these two finally do get together...Oh, Mama...Hot Damn, and it is done well, thank you very much.

This little book was an enjoyable read not pretending to be anything then what is presented; a love story with an HEA at the end. Ms. Teevan has figured out what works and I think she is on a roll... another couple is in the wings...Here's to hoping their story works as well.

***5 Sweetheart Stars***

Before I begin my review, can we please take a moment to acknowledge the rugged and sexy as hell manliness that is the cover model and epitome of Knox Wellington?

Ok, now let's get to the matter at hand.

I absolutely LOVED this book! Read it in one day because I couldn't put it down. I was completely absorbed in the characters and story.

Charlie was the kind of heroine that you love and root for from the very first page. She calls it like she sees it and if you can't take it, well you shouldn't have given her a reason to give it you. She has recently called off her wedding due to some unfortunate circumstances...her fiance was fucking his office cleaning lady. And Drew quickly finds himself on the "you're a cheating asshole" list.

Knox...swooooon! He's been burned in the past by a greedy and evil bitch and has sworn off relationships and any mention of the word love. Please note this greedy and evil bitch is also listed in the same book as Drew...only said bitch has different standards...she goes for the brother. After the discovery, Knox immediately joins the Army where he spends the next 10 years diffusing bombs and enjoying random hookups.

During one of his tours of duty a mission goes bad and Knox finds himself injured in an ambush. He spends three weeks recovering in the hospital, but once he's released to go home, he'll still need constant care as he's in a back brace, has a cast on his arm and isn't allowed to drive due to the pain medication. Charlie happens to work as a volunteer helping injured soldiers. It's a cause near and dear to her heart as she grew up an Army brat since her dad is an Army surgeon. I think we can safely guess who she gets paired up with.

At first the two butt heads.....constantly! They both have honest and at times abrasive personalities. Knox's inner asshole can shine bright like a diamond....and let's not forget that Charlie doesn't take any shit. But over time, they find middle ground. A friendship forms and soon thereafter deeper feelings develop.

Little by little Charlie breaks down Knox's walls and shows him what it's like to have a good, honest and loving woman in his life. The foundation of their relationship is friendship, and he slowly begins to realize how much time he actually spends with Charlie and how much he loves having her around. We are treated to some great bubbling sexual tension from these two. But once the leap is taken.........holy shit was it gratifying!!

description

They may have been guarded and hesitant in other aspects of their relationship, but in the bedroom...ANYTHING. GOES. And may I mention that these two were all about quantity AND quality.

As he begins opening up to her, you see the transformation of a man who has been craving true love in his life.

"To be honest with you, babe, I've tried to fight it, and I've been battling an internal war with myself since you moved in. All this time we've spent together, you've brought me out of my shell, without either of us realizing. And I find myself happy, truly happy, for the first time in years. And when I reflect on it at night when it's just me and my guitar, I know that happiness comes from how you make me feel. So no. This isn't a one-night thing. This isn't roommates hooking up. This is you and me. This is us. Falling into place, the way we're meant to. And I'm tired of fighting it. I don't want to anymore."

description

Both Charlie and Knox have been burned in the past....can they learn to trust each other? To fully let their guards down, reach out and fight to hold on to the love offered?

"You see me, Knox, and you let me be me. And I do the same for you. I think that's all either of us has ever needed, but we didn't know it until now."

This book is a fantastic blend of emotion, humor, hot sex, phenomenal banter, friendship and ultimately, unconditional love.

Incinerate.... This my friends is how you write a sophomore book. This is the second book in the Explosive series and it's MCs are Knox Wellington and Charlie Davenport.

 photo image_zps1537f231.jpg

Knox, whom enlisted after discovering his high school sweetheart was cheating on him with his brother. Charlie, is a guys girl. Knox has returned home after being injured on the field and Charlie is the volunteer who was assigned to help him.

Lately, I've been sticking mainly to M/M reads because M/F reads just haven't wowed me. They were getting a bit stale. I was in between books and saw a post by the author asking for reviewers. I remembered how impressed I'd been with her first book and decided to ask her for a copy. Soooo glad I did.

What I loved:
*Relatable characters. I loved Knox and Charlie. I loved their personalities and how they interacted with each other and their loved ones. Jace (from Ignite) was pretty freaking perfect but Knox stole my heart in this book. Charlie, is probably one of favorite heroines. She wasn't whiny and weak. She was strong and I loved that about her.
*Real issues. Just like in Ms Teevan's first book, there's no b.s. plot twists and villains. This is a slice of life story.
*I loved the build up in the relationship between the two MCs. It wasn't rushed and it wasn't insta love. I just the love how they were with each other.
*The sex was smutastic! Good lawd!
*It's a standalone.
*The story has great flow. There were no slow parts. Stories seem to come effortlessly to Ms. Teevan.

What I didn't like:
I have no criticisms. This book is solid!

Would I recommend this? Absofuckenlutely. Thank you to the author for kindly giving me an ARC ♥

♥♥♥ 4.5 "Rugged Boyfriend" Stars ♥♥♥

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“...one of these days you’re going to meet someone that will make you stop being so damn cynical all the time, and I can’t wait for that day to come.”

“Never gonna happen.”

“Famous last words, Knox. Famous last words.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

This was so awesome!! I think I enjoyed this one better than the first. And I loved Jace, but Knox was just HAWT!!

When Charlie meets Knox for the first time at a bar, she is embarrased for being turned down. Then she ends up knocking on his door. She can't believe that he is the man that she has volunteered to take care of. How she is suppose to be in such close proximities with a man she is really attracted to?

Knox has suffered multiple injuries while at war. He isn't in place to start anything with anyone. In fact, he no longer does relationships. But when he sees Charlie, he knows there is something about her that just calls to him. He can't believe his curse...or luck when she is the once caring for him. He tries not to feel anything for her, but it's pretty impossible.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

'For the first time in forever, I want more than a quick lay with a woman. I haven't wanted a relationship with anyone, but with Charlie, I do, and I'm already feeling stupidly possessive. I want to spend time with her, not as my roommate, but as my girl, mine and no one else's.'

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Charlie is the daughter of a military man, she has only had him in her life. Because of that, she is a bit of a tomboy. She enjoys boxing with the guys. She's tough, independent, and confident. And I really liked her. She now volunteers to help injured soldiers until they return back to health. It's been a while since her last relationship, that failed miserably, and her best friend insists it's time for her to go out. When she sees Knox at a bar, she is instanly attracted and she calls him 'Rugged Man' (In her mind of course). The next day she finds out he is the one she is assigned to take care of. They spend most of the time bickering and annoying each other. But slowly that develops into something more. She had her stubborn moments, but I loved how she went head to head with Knox and didn't back down. Plus, there was some crazy sexual tension between these two that was very entertaining to read. I don't think she ever annoyed me, I liked how clear she was for the most part. Her past relationship affected her, so she was a bit reluctant to trust, which was very understandable since he cheated on her. But I like her fiery personality and how quickly she picks herself up.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"I don't know what I'm doing here, but I'm trying. All I can tell you, is I've never felt this way about anyone before. I can't get enough of you. I hate when you're not around, I'm stifled when you're gone. Like you're the air I need to breathe, the air I've needed my entire life, because until you, I wasn't whole."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Knox defused bombs in the military. He's hasn't been in a relationship since he lost his last girlfriend to his older brother. He has vowed to never lose his heart to any woman again. When he gets injured and sent back home, he is frustrated with how helpless he feels. He can't stand doing nothing while everyone coddles him. He only has his brother to take care of him, since he is estranged from the rest of his family, but his brother is off to college. After meeting the woman he couldn't forget, he can't believe she will be with him every step of his recovery. They start off irritating each other, but only because they try to fight the attraction. For the first time in a long time, Charlie makes him feel something. He's scared, but he knows he wants to pursue something with her. They both help each other move on from their past hurts. And It was wonderful to see them grow.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"You have me, sweetheart. You always will."

"Promise?"

"I promise. Always."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

There was perfect amount of high steam to keep things interesting. And the build up was panty melting HOT!! Knox is one sexy rugged beast. I really enjoyed how slow their relationship grew so they got to know each other well before anything happened. I love how Alpha Knox could be. I really loved that Jace was in this book, I hadn't realized how much I missed him. I also really liked Cohen and Kale, they were such awesome characters. What I really appreciated from these characters, was that they didn't act like whiney teens, they were acted like adults about how they dealt with things, which is how it should be. I enjoyed the humour in this book that had me grinning goofily. Overall, this book was really enjoyable to me. I think I loved this one more than the first. The ending and epilogue was so sweet and beautiful. I really loved it. I for sure recommend this one. Now, I can't wait to read Kale and Lucy's story!! I already half love Kale. I can't wait!!

Incinerate was my first book by Tessa Teevan and now I'm more than intrigued by her other books.

I'm curious to read about Jace and Lexi who were the first couple in the explosive series. They are a huge part of this one but you don't get all the details and I'm very interested to know them all.

Incinerate is about Knox and Charlie. The first one is an injured soldier and the other one is a volunteer to help wounded soldiers.
But the first time they met, the first time their eyes catch the other was at a bar.

Charlie was ready for some fun but Knox was more preoccupied with the state he is in. He almost died after a bomb explosion and he knows his recovery is going to take some time. He craves some woman's attention but he knows he needs to focus on more important matters.
Imagine both of their faces when the next morning Knox opens the door to his new help Charlie

description

And this is only the beginning of the fun.
Both of them are not one to take orders well or even to accept help easily. At first they fight like crazy

description

Do they fight because they don't like each other? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
They are both very attracted but they are also both suborn and playing with fire.

Charlie thinks Knox is playing cold and hot with her.
Knox doesn't want a girl in his life but he's undeniably attracted to Charlie.
What I've liked a lot here was how their relation evolved. First it's lust at first sight and then fight at first sight to become a true and beautiful relation where feelings are slowly involved
Charlie is a strong woman who doesn't take any bullshit her way.
Knox is all male and with his injuries he is a little weaken and off balance. Both feeling he hates more than anything else.

Once they are settle and start to be more open to each other, things begin to be more enjoyable. Once they stop fighting their attraction, things become a lot more interesting.

They are both sexy as hell. The steamy scenes are very well written.
Charlie and Knox have both something in common. They were both victims of cheaters and it left them with some insecurities they will have to overcome if they want their HEA.

My only issue was that maybe some parts were a little too slow and the book was a little bit too long for my taste but other than that, I had a very good time and this book left me wanting to know about the other characters. Thank God the books are already available

description

PS: Incinerate has been re-released last week with two bonus scenes at the end of the book and let me tll you if you haven't read those, you should...
The bonuses are absolutely what every romance readers wants to know and love to read

FIVE OVER THE MOON FOR KNOX STARS!!!

(ARC Provided by Author For an Honest Review)
BR with Melissa

I've been chomping at the bit to be able to read "Incinerate"!!
This is how I felt when I received the ARC from Tessa!!

 photo tumblr_lnm7dmaf2r1qbkkdv_zpsb747735d.gif

I may have also done a little happy dance like this....

 photo tumblr_m8454hrxN31rziwwco1_250_zpscd7f9e2d.gif

This is the story of Knox (aka Rugged) Wellington and Charlotte (Charlie) Davenport!!
Loved their story!

Knox is Jace McAllister's best friend.
We were introduced to Knox in Jace's book, "Ignite".
Knox is the hot, "bad boy" personified!!
He doesn't do relationships.
He throws you a bang, and then he moves on to his next conquest.

And that's my motto. Fuck them all, care about none.

Knox doesn't trust women.
His High School sweetheart broke his heart by cheating on him with his older brother.
This, plus his decision to enlist in the army, caused a rift between him and his family.
So for over ten years he's closed off his heart to love and has only kept close to his younger brother, Cohen.

 photo image_zps1d55c240.jpg

Knox and Jace are both hurt during a roadside bombing.
He suffered more serious injuries than Jace.

I can feel myself drifting off, and instead of flashes of my life and loved ones running through my mind, I see nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'm fucking alone, and I'm going to die this way in this godforsaken country. Shattered. Broken. And completely alone.

When he's finally out of the hospital and back home, his brother gets him a volunteer to help Knox around the house and to take him to his doctor appointments.
He's a very stubborn, and pig headed man, who positively hates being treated like he's helpless and hates the idea of a stranger helping him.

 photo image_zpsb14a7a92.jpg

Enter, Charlie Davenport!!!
I loved her!!
She's a beautiful and feisty book heroine.
Her father's a doctor in the army.
She's a certified army brat.
She's grown up her whole life, surrounded by soldiers.
Charlie has recently broken up with her fiancé, Drew, after walking in on him having sex in his classroom with the cleaning lady.

Charlie and Knox have both had their hearts broken.
They're both afraid of getting hurt again.
When these two first see each other, the chemistry is hard to miss!!
But Knox always has this chip on his shoulder, and can be overly cocky and it rubs Charlie the wrong way.
She's a gal who doesn't take crap and gives back as good as she gets.
The stuff that comes out of her mouth had me laughing out loud so many times.
I have a new term to use in my every day life now!!

I don't care how hot he is--he's clearly an arrogant cockbag that I'm better off just admiring from afar.

So these two get off on the wrong foot from the start.
And as luck would have it, Charlie is the volunteer that will be helping Knox.
Of course Knox continually puts his foot in his mouth when it comes to Charlie.

"Just don't, Knox. I'll be back with the groceries later. Maybe while I'm gone you can take the foot out of your mouth and shove it up your ass."

Circumstances arise which ends up with Charlie moving into the spare bedroom in Knox's house.
And I'm all excited over the accidentally running into each other naked possibilities!! LOL
The scene with Knox in the shower by himself...wow wee, I'm needing a moment here!!

I knew that the way these two were constantly bickering that when they finally gave in to their mutual desires for each other, that it was going to be panty soaking hot, and hell yeah it was!!!!!
All I can say is getting spanked by Knox is a definite turn on!!!

Knox, the man who doesn't do love, has all his walls around his heart, knocked down by Charlie.
He comes up with such Swoonworthy and romantic gestures.
It's always the guys with the cool, rough exterior, that end up being the best Lovers!!!

A week ago I was pissed as hell that Jace suggested this, but now I can't wait for her to get back. Since she's been here, she's been filling a loneliness that I didn't even know I was feeling, and I'm already struggling with the silence when she's away at work.

I'm at war with myself, wanting to take this to the next level, but hesitant to put myself out there again. The cage my heart's been locked up in feels like it's being infiltrated, and no longer seems so indestructible.

I don't know how she did it, but somehow over the past two months she's worked herself into my heart making me rethink every single plan I've ever had about my future.

"This isn't a one night thing. This isn't roommates hooking up. This is you and me. This is us. Falling into place, the way we were meant to. And I'm tired of fighting it. I don't want to anymore."

I just loved this story.
Knox is definitely a deliciously hot & sexy Alpha Male!
Charlie, is a book heroine that kicks ass and readers will love her.

The buildup to these two finally giving in to their feelings was perfect!
It had just the right amount of angst.
Tessa doesn't drag it out longer than necessary, which I really appreciated.
Jace and Lexi are around for quite a bit and I was happy to get more of them since I loved "Ignite".
Their wedding was perfect.
The vows were beautiful!!!

I love how Tessa is able to incorporate really cool secondary characters.
They help to make the story so well rounded and they even help bring Knox and Charlie together!!

The epilogue was wonderful.
Loved it!!!
HEAs all around!!!! :)

"I want you to love me, to love me more fiercely, more deeply, more passionately than you've ever loved anything in your life. I want you to love me to the point that you can't breathe when I'm not around, so much so that you can't imagine a minute of your life without me in it. Because, Knox, that's the way I love you."

"Sweetheart, I think I've been in love with you since the moment you slapped me. I love you, Charlotte Rose Davenport, and one day, I'll make you my wife. And soon after that, you'll be the mother of my child. But for now, I need to know. Will you have me back? Will you be my forever sweetheart?"

I absolutely love this series so far and can't wait for Kale's story!!
I'm sure he's going to be another Swoonworthy book boyfriend to add to my list!!! :)

5 Sweet & Sexy Stars

 photo a1b8d092-53b2-4606-bbab-0a51a58a5778_zps19d0e67d.jpg

Tessa Teevan ROCKS! From the prologue to the playlist, I LOVED IT! ❤❤ She did such an amazing job with Incinerate. Actually, I loved it more than Ignite. I instantly fell in love with both Knox and Charlie.

The synopsis for this book pretty much covers all you need to know. I don’t want to say much about the plot because I think going into this book with your mind wide open is the best way to experience Knox and Charlie’s journey. What I will say though, is that these two give a new meaning to that saying “slow simmer”! The anticipation of these two getting together was killing me but I loved every minute of the build-up. It was funny. It was sweet. And it was sexy as all hell!

It is just crazy how Tessa Teevan’s writing just sucks you in. With each chapter she gives you just enough and leaves you needing more. All the little bits and pieces she gives us of the characters and their lives amounted to such a fantastic story! And around the 3rd or 4th chapter we get the rest told from both Knox and Charlie. I loved that!

Both Knox and Charlie were amazing characters. There was something about Knox that had me swooning from the get go. Though he was a damaged and a bit arrogant guy he was also sweet, vulnerable and HOT! And I found it rather sexy that he could play guitar and sing too. **sigh**

 photo 31a8bdb393b677e96edc56a59558ceab_zps18dd2225.jpg

“He’s sweet, he’s an ass, he’s warm, he’s cold. He flirts, he scowls, he drives me absolutely crazy, but dammit if my heart doesn’t melt when he smiles.

Knox finds himself in situation he really isn’t too happy about. He returns home to Tennessee to recover from injuries he has from a horrible accident that happened overseas. He is less than thrilled that he will need help from someone just to get through day to day stuff. He hates to feel incapable. This is when Charlotte (Charlie) Davenport enters his life. Their first meeting was priceless. I loved it!

Charlie just shined for me. There was a bit of a deception about her. She was sweet, beautiful and sexy but she was also a strong, independent and a “I don’t take shit from no one” kind of woman.

 photo 211ca9b978219bc6c75cec892b46c6ef_zps6f80aa62.jpg

“Here’s the thing… I want, more than anything, for you to be my sweetheart, because that’s what you’ve become to me, even if I started saying it by being an ass…. Charlie, I want – I need – you to be my fucking girl.”

When Charlie finds out who she will be helping she has a quick internal conversation with herself wondering if she should go through with it. But in true Charlie form she sucks it up and does what she has to. Knox doesn’t make things easy for her in the beginning but Charlie doesn’t sit back and take his crap either. The sexual tension between them was crazy and when neither can stand it any longer, well lets just say things heat up.

 photo sexycouple_zps9b7414e7.jpg

I really had a hard time setting this book down. I loved the sweetness and the sexiness of it but at the heart of the story was Knox taking his life back. Finding a way to forgive, forget and love again. Charlie was just that angel he needed but she too had things she had to work through. Their story just melted my heart.

And there were other little things going on around Charlie and Knox too. We get Charlie’s Dad who was great! Talk about daddy’s little girl. Their relationship was one of a kind. Their conversations were so sweet and tender. We also get Jace and Alexa back too. All the crap Jace would give Knox cracked me up. And the moments between Kale and Charlie at the gym were priceless!

Absolutely adored the Epilogue. ❤

5 Incinerating Stars!

Knox Wellington is a soldier that was severely hurting during a bombing. So his best-friend Jace and his brother decide to get him a volunteer from the army to help him until he get better. And that help comes in form of Charlie. Feeling slightly humiliated of his condition, tired of being home Knox is kind of an ass in the beginning, but he soon discovers that Charlie knows how to fight back and pretty soon things between them start to change.

description

But both of them were betrayed once which make hard for them to trust someone and let people in.
There are just some fights you cannot win, could the fear of letting in, turn their relationship in one of those fights?

Rating: 5 Stars.
Storyline: I loved this story. It was sweet, emotional, romantic and so, so sexy. It was impossible not to get hooked to it, and well, I’m a sucker for stories of badass guys than bend only for that one girl.
Writing Style: First person, dual POV. Sweet and addictive writing.
Character Development: Charlie is truly a great heroine. I loved how she wasn’t afraid to fight back and to speak her mind. Even when she would get insecure she would find a way to get past that and is not often we see strong and not whinny heroines, so she was pretty refreshing. Knox… what can I say? I loved him. He was sweet and amazing, even when he was being an ass. We could see why sometimes he would act that way and we would love him even more in spite of it.
It was great to see more of the previous characters story and I really can’t wait for Lucy and Kale’s book!
Steam: Hot.

Knox is not used to relying on others for help. That makes him act like a bit rude to others.

Especially Charlie, who volunteers to assist him.

Of course they both have baggage.

But they can get over that together!

Would I recommend?

As much as I loved Ignite, I have to say that this book, for me, was even better than the first. The author accomplished something that is not very common for me: I absolutely loved BOTH the Hero and heroine equally. Typically, I tend to like the Hero more, and if I don't like the Hero? Well then I just don't like the book at all. In this case, I think I got a little crush on both of these characters-they were amazing. And together...they were flawless. The perfect fit.

Knox Wellington
Oh, lord..this guy. There's just something about him. He is the perfect blend of:
Rebellious, honorable, vulnerable, strong, sweet, and sexy. Oh, and did I mention he plays guitar? Yeah, he serenades her.

He is lush.

He's Jace's best friend, fellow soldier, and works in the same field-diffusing bombs in Afghanistan. While overseas, they get caught in a bomb blast. Suddenly things become very clear that he's made some bad choices about the direction of his life.

I can feel myself drifting off, and instead of flashes of my life and loved ones running through my mind, I see nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'm fucking alone, and I'm going to die this way in this godforsaken country. Shattered. Broken. And completely alone.

He's closed himself off from people for the last 10 years of his life. And more than anything, he's closed himself off from love. He was betrayed by his brother and his first girlfriend and ever since then doesn't believe in love. He's all about "getting in and getting out". He sticks with one night stands and strictly physical connections. Not only is he protecting his heart, but his risky job deters him as well. When his brother can't put off going back to school any longer, he gets Charlie, a volunteer from a local veterans group to help out. Knox is unable to drive, shower, or even dress himself yet. He had some pretty serious injuries and it's a long road to recovery. He's already feeling helpless and weak, something he can't handle very well. The last thing he wants is some strange guy coming in and taking care of him. Little does he know, "Charlie" is Charlotte... and his life is about to change. All his preconceived ideas on love, forgiveness and trust are going to be turned upside down.

Charlotte "Charlie" Davenport
God, I love this girl. There are so many reasons. I'm majorly crushing over here. How can you not fall for a girl like this?

She grew up playing with G.I. joes instead of Barbies

Loves action movies, sports, and drinks beer with the best of them

Volunteers her time to soldiers in need

Is sweet, sexy, witty, and honest-she never holds back

Is a sucker for classic cars and classic rock

Can kick box as good as any guy and sometimes better.

In other words...she kicks ass.

Charlie was raised by her widowed dad and I simply loved seeing their relationship throughout the book. He was mother and father to her growing up and the support and love they show each other is so sweet.

She's just coming off of a broken engagement. Her ex-fiance cheated on her and destroyed her trust and faith. She's so not ready to meet anyone new-she's too busy licking her wounds and trying to get her life in order. It seems like this new volunteer job just might be the perfect thing to keep her busy and her mind off of her shambles of a life. Neither of them get what they were expecting. Charlie is not a guy, and Knox is not an easy patient. It takes everything she has to stand head-to-head with him. He's angry, mulish and rude, rubbing her the wrong way from the start. But her extreme stubbornness and inability to give up prevent her from walking out on him.

Slowly, he starts to see how amazing she is and his attraction grows. He fights it hard. He's got years of anger and resentment over his past still affecting his ability to believe in relationships. But he's no match for Charlie.

"Yeah, it's official. The girl of my dreams. You know, if I intended on actually settling down. It figures the universe would send the perfect girl to my doorstep, only to make sure that we can't stand each other half the time."

"You're pretty fucking awesome, you know that?" Turning towards me, she smirks at me.
It only took you a week to figure that out? I guess you're not as slow as I thought."

She shows him that there are honest, loyal women out there that will stick by you and support you. She takes care of him. She understands him. The real him. She's ready to help him get back his confidence and strength and train with him when his body starts to recover.

And he's suddenly falling hard. He wants what he's never wanted before with anyone else in the last 10 years. The problem? He's been friend zoned. Or has he? Actually she's falling just as hard but is unwilling to put herself out there after all his claims on relationships and love.

When they finally give in...the explosion... will incinerate you. Wow. They are freaking HOT.

They start a fragile relationship where they have to rediscover what is means to put total faith and trust in another person.

I don't know what I'm doing here, but I'm trying. All I can tell you is I've never felt this way about anyone before. I can't get enough of you. I hate when you're not around. I'm stifled when you're gone. Like you're the air I need to breathe, the air I've needed my entire life, because until you, I wasn't whole. I shut everyone out, but you worked your way in, little by little, and now that I have you in my life, I feel like a new man."

It's a rocky road but you will root for them the whole way. Their great sense of humor, love and support of each other is so sweet and entertaining. I can't imagine two people being more perfect for each other. Ultimately, he has to learn that his inability to forgive his family, and most especially his brother has caused himself harm more than anybody else. She helps him face his past so he can free his future.

"Charlie, it doesn't matter what you look like, because when it all boils down to it, day after day you show me your heart, and it's the most goddamn beautiful fucking thing I've ever seen. I pray to God that I'll be worthy of having it for as long as you want me."

I loved everything about this book. The amazing characters, the return of Lexi and Jace, the hard lessons they learned from each other and the steam was completely provocative, passionate, and red-hot. It was a charming and gorgeous story. The whole package. And the epilogue...killer. It tied everything up perfectly. Loved it!

Knox Wellington aka Rugged grew up in a wealthy family in Tennessee, where his whole life has been planned out. All his plans change after his high school sweetheart breaks his heart. He needs to get away from it all and decides to join the army. His parents don't understand his decision, and as a result they haven't spoken in years. The only person Knox keeps in touch with is his younger brother Cohen.

 photo bed31f7b-d645-494d-9c47-98a26051400e.jpg

Knox has never regretted his decision to leave his old life behind, and join the army. He loves his job as an EOD specialist, and has a best friend named Jace that he considers a brother. He doesn't really believe in love anymore, and is quite cynical. He keeps his heart protected and won't put himself in a position where he could get hurt again. He only has one night stands with women, and keeps it purely physical.

 photo f60f0e3c-fe88-406c-bc75-5f87547e5692.png

While Knox and Jace are in Afghanistan, a bomb explodes and injures them both. Knox is injured a lot worse than Jace, and spends a lot more time in the hospital before he is sent home. Once home, he still has a long ways to go before he is fully recovered, and needs someone to help take care of him.

 photo 5ec41868-be08-441c-b669-836cf044d238.jpg

In walks Charlie Davenport aka sweetheart. Charlie works as a Veteran's Affairs liaison and often volunteers to help injured soldiers. She has no idea what a challenge he will be, or just how gorgeous he is. Knox is used to being this strong guy, who can take care of himself, so he is rather grouchy and rude with Charlie. He doesn't like feeling weak, an doesn't want a babysitter, but he learns pretty fast that Charlie won't put up with his attitude.

 photo d5fc0a59-21d2-41ae-b286-08b4fdac5482.jpg

Charlie was raised by a single dad that is also in the army, which has helped to make her the strong, confident woman she is today. As she continues to spend time caring for Knox they eventually get closer as they get to know each other, and realize they have more in common than they thought. Their chemistry is on fire, and their banter back and forth is hilarious. As their friendship grows, so does their attraction, and omg when these two finally can't fight it anymore, it is incredible! This is one of those books I couldn't put down! lol Knox is delicious, and the sex is off the charts hot!!! This was such a fantastic book, and I loved that we also get a lot if Jace & Lexi. The epilogue was also amazing & I can't wait for Kale and Lucy's story!!! So many yummy men in this series!!!I really enjoy Tessa's writing, and loved this couple! :D

-When he comes into view, the sight of him stops my breath.

-I'm completely confused at my reaction to him. I want to gauge his eyes in one moment and then rip his clothes off in the next. He's sweet, he's an ass, he's warm, he's cold. He flirts, he scowls, but dammit if my heart doesn't melt when he smiles.

-She's reduced me to a thirteen year old boy, wanting to make it official, but I don't care. She's mine; no one else's, and I need to hear her say it.

-Every single grin, every single smirk, every single heart stopping smile that I get from him is one hundred percent genuine.

I loved Knox and Charlie! Now let me say, I did like Ignite but Incinerate was SO good. The writing was great, the story was great, the characters rocked and we got Jase & Lexi in this story too. Knox had been burned by the slut liar bitch Megan which we heard about in book one but get more details in this one to make me hate her more. The hurt and pain caused him to live a life without love, only random meaningless hookups. Until.....
Charlie, lovely Charlie. Although the initial interaction between Charlie and Knox is not so good, the second meeting is even worse! I loved that she slapped him and told him where to shove it. I loved her strength throughout this book. Are you late to reading this series? I don't know how I've missed it. It's sweet, full of angst, and these books are ending so damn beautifully. I don't know what else to say that hasn't been said in all the reviews before this. It's simple, read this if you want sweet!!!

2 "I don't know why I want you" stars.

Oh, this started off so good! I was so excited. An alpha male and a head-strong heroine forced to put up with one another, both stubborn, both up for a challenge, and both seemingly perfect for each other. Yay!!

The story simply starts off with a kick-ass, tough army guy who, while out in the field gets blown up by the very bomb he's trying to detonate. With temporary injuries to his brain, spine and arm, Knox (yeah, that's really his name), needs someone to come and help him with every day tasks while he's recovering at home. Enter Charlotte Rose Davenport (Charlie), an army brat with a heart of gold who volunteers to help local army guys with... I guess whatever it is they need. (It's never made clear, and she has no special training, but hey, who cares, right?)

So there it is: two extremely hot, extremely ripped, and extremely stubborn young adults thrust into every day situations such as showers, shopping and... dinner making. But both have had their significant others cheat on them and neither one wants to get involved again. So it's okay. We're safe. At first they don't get along at all, and due to his pain meds (and a bit if cabin fever) Knox can be quite an arrogant jerk. But eventually they become friends (mostly because they find each other so hot) and realise that their painful pasts may have been the very thing that led them to finally find each other.

Like I said before, this started off really well and I felt myself reading with that feeling of excitement you get when you stumble across a gem of a book that you can't get enough of. The butterflies of joy when you think you've definitely found a 5-star.

But then the abundance of "lucky coincidences" and lack of any structure (or real dialogue) began to "irk" me. Too many "easy way outs". People being at just the right place and at the just the right time to allow our main characters to very conveniently "witness" a perceived deception. Not to mention the plot lines that were too ridiculous and too superficial for me to take any real refuge in them. It was as if the author decided to throw in as many curve balls and dramas in one book as she could. I would have preferred one or two that were well researched and better developed.

Also, it seemed a little strange that both Knox and Charlie just happen to be from the same small town, go to the same gym, box at the same boxing rink, frequent the same pub, her father's an army doctor, and one of his closest friends is sleeping with her roommate... but miracle of miracles, they don't know each other at all. Perhaps the author wants us to believe that when you're in a relationship with someone you become completely invisible to everybody else.

The book is also in need of a good edit. There is a plethora of missing words from sentences and an abundance of spelling errors. I know this is not a concern for everyone but it's a HUGE pet peeve of mine. If I am expected to pay ten bucks, I want to read a book that has, at the very least, been spell-checked.

But my main grievance is one that seems to pop up quite frequently in so many hate-to-love stories. This being the transformation of a perfectly delectable alpha-male into a meek, soppy, aria-prone, totally-whipped, shadow of his former self. I have said this many times before but truly, did Rhett Butler have to change into Ashley Wilkes in order to win Scarlett's heart? No. I don't think so. He claimed her, like a man. I like my heroes strong, cocky, witty, and uncompromising. And I love it when they act like men... and not how women would act if they were men. I am not a fan of an alpha-male who is reduced to slosh by the end of the book the way Knox is in this.

The premise however, was excellent. But the poor writing, the poor editing, the slow-pace, and the lamb-in-wolf's-clothing hero made this an eye-rolling read, with a hint of disappointment on the side.

I recommend it only to those who like their stories predictable and drenched in syrupy declarations.

5 huge...SWEETHEART...come shower with me, teach me to dance Knox Wellington Stars!

Holy Hell...this book literally incinerated me, inside and out. I was completely intrigued by Knox Wellington and his bad, broody self in Teevan's first book. I was so damn happy his tale did not disappoint.

Well...hard to find either emotion when you have cut yourself off from anything remotely intimate. Now that he is down, home, and injured, well there is nothing but time for Knox to heal and process his life. It only takes a single glance across a bar to spot a feisty, vibrant and independent gal that has him questioning his solitude. But when you are a complete "rugged" ass, no one would put up with you!

Hold on just a minute...meet Charlie

This chick is FABULOUS! She is military bred and sassy in all the right ways. A true breath of fresh air for a female written character. He first interaction with Knox is a complete humiliation with crash and burn...but what do you expect from an injured alpha who needs control? Lucky for both, that fate has put them under the same roof! Hot and Cold, Soft and Hard, their relationship is tense...

I have never been so completely consumed with a slow building burn like the one that Charlie and Knox were creating. I loved watching a broken man with years of hard baggage open up and find peace. I loved the flirty banter, the sassy mouth Charlie opened quite often, and the intimate pull that was growing stronger with each page...For once in his life, Knox needed and wanted a companion.

I cannot stress enough my love for this series...and well, lets face it, Knox Wellington, he can sing me sweet country songs, ask for a sponge bath, and he can most definitely pin me against a wall any day of the week.

Well written, great characters, amazing journey...

Unfortunately, this novel and I are not compatible. Not that there is something awful about it, I just find myself falling asleep every time I pick it up. It's a snooze fest for me.

It is too repetitive and too wordy with lots of unnecessary details. Pages and pages of blah bla bla and I can easily phrase it in two sentences!

Naturally, the book drags a lot. The characters think about the same thing over and over, and maybe 3 or 4 chapters later, they think about the same thing again, so pages and pages of the same issue! It's a very long book and even though I have read many chapters, I have seen that there is not much happening.

I also couldn't connect with the characters. I went into this book knowing that I was going to read about a sassy heroine but despite being a tomboy, she disappointed me. Somehow, both characters rubbed me the wrong way and kinda irritated me. He rejects her immediately when she approaches him in a bar. First of all, I hate it when the woman makes the first move and secondly, the way he rejected her was not nice. Later, when they are a couple finally, he explains to her that he has always wanted her - even from the very first moment but he rejected her because he was not ready for her. What an as*hole answer!

Also, I hated that she always lost herself in checking him out, zoning out literally fantasizing about him etc and he always caught her. By doing so, she kind of made it clear that she was ready for whenever he was ready, and I didn't like it. Despite her fantasizing and all, I never felt their chemistry.

And after their first sex and him saying that she was his and that he wants more than a one-night stand and he wants it all, she acts like an idiot and has to ask him many times what they are. In her mind, she thinks that she cannot be sure if they are going to be f*ck-buddies or boyfriend/girlfriend. How much more stupid can you get? The man tells you he wants you to be his. Which f*ck-buddy makes a claim like that? He has to reword it and rephrase it until she gets it! So, as you see, even the start of their relationship is a repetitive clusterf*ck instead of a romantic or passionate dialogue!

Also, there is too much telling but scarce dialogues, which is another thing I dislike in books. Show me; don't tell me!

To sum it up, I wanted to finish it but I have tried 3 times and nope, every time I try, I fall asleep. This means this book and I are no good together, it may be me or the book, I don't know.

Well, so let me sleep. There are so many readers who liked it so you may want to check yourselves.

Here is one review I liked and agree with:

4.5 Burning up the pages Stars

ARC provided by the Author for an honest review. THANK YOU TESSA!

Knox: Mr. Broody-jaded-hunky-military man. Aka: Rugged. He's rough, tough and rugged around the edges. He rectifies a wall around his heart that no one can break through, or so he thinks. He just hadn't met the right woman, until Charlie lands on his door step. Maybe he’s not as jaded as he thought he was.

Charlie: Aka: Sweetheart. A bit of a firecracker that can tow-the-line with the best of them, just ask Knox. She's definitely not your sugary sweet hearts and flowers kind of girl. She was raised by her father, is a bit of a tom-boy, and can take you down in the ring. She has a backbone and isn't afraid to use it.

Incinerate: means- to burn (something) completely.
I think this title is perfect for the type of relationship Knox and Charlie have. They definitely have a "burning" desire for each other. It's safe to say that they "burned" up just about every page in this book.

What I loved about this book:
1. Humor
2. Any scene with Jace (Tessa, you spoiled me in book 1 with him)
3. Charlie's backbone, especially with Knox.
4. Wade Davenport- he was funny and a great dad to Charlie
5. Definitely some good steam. Knox has a very large "appetite" and healthy libido.
6. Dual POV's
7. For the most part, it has a fast moving storyline.
8. Knox- and even more so once we were able to break through to his sweet side.
9. The relationship Knox and Charlie have as a couple.
10. Jace and Lexi's special moment, and the words that were said.
11. The ending scene and Epilogue
12. Cohen and Kale

Knox meets Charlie when he needs someone to help him out while recovering from his injuries he received in Afghanistan. He isn’t all fired up to have someone come “babysit” him, especially not some “guy “named Charlie. Little does he know what is in-store for him.

These two will go toe-to-toe and butt heads more often then not. However, they’re going to need to figure things out quickly, as they are stuck with each other when Cohen, Knox’s brother, needs to go back to school. Thankfully Knox has some awesome friends to help with damage control. Otherwise, Charlie and Knox will Incinerate one another before they get to the core of each other. And they definitely want to get to that part, because it’s the best part.

Knox and Charlie will definitely go through some hard times as they navigate a relationship with each other, deal with certain people, and ultimately figure out what they really want out of each other and their future down the road.

My favorite part about this couple were the sweet moments they had together; especially when they were there for one another through thick and thin. Charlie was good for Knox, as she helped him to open his heart and his eyes and learn to not shut others out.

Knox and Charlie definitely had a bumpy ride, they learned with and from each other and they definitely grew through their trials with each other to come out on top as they got to the heart of one another.

Final thoughts:
I loved that Knox was a completely different story then the first book about Jace. How both of their books play out, works beautifully for the type of characters that Tessa has created. Where Jace was sweet, romantic and grabs what he wants by the horns.... Knox is jaded, more guarded and unsure of his feelings in the love department. He needed someone like Charlie to show him what he could have and that it was something to not be scared about and that it can be beautiful. In the end, Knox and Charlie are perfect for each other in every way. The more I think about it, I wouldn't change a thing about either one.

I'm looking forward to Kale's story next.

Review
Take a wounded soldier who has relationship issues and can be seen constantly scowling at people and mix this with a headstrong, physically fit woman who also has relationship issues – through them together and what does that make?  It makes heat so hot…..that it ends up “Incinerating” all immovable objects around them.

I loved the beginning of this book with the banter that happened back and forth between Knox and Charlie….I loved how their first meeting went and how Charlie ended up being embarrassed, angry, and then getting the last laugh.  Knox’s character was off the roof in the beginning with his “asshole” attitude one minute and then the arrogance….oh the arrogance he portrayed ---- he made the story laughable and entertaining!

Charlie’s character was just as well written with her being a headstrong, no-holds barred type of chick.  She let the cussing rip, along with being a beer drinking, sport loving, wing eating – every man’s dream type of woman!  Well every man except for Knox ---- at first!

As much as the beginning was entertaining – I felt the story started to drag when Knox started to change his tune about Charlie.  The story wasn’t as fast paced as it was, I guess because they were in a friendly – roomie – get to know you type of moment.  I understand they had to grow their relationship, but it still seemed to go too slow for my liking.  I think a bit more angst thrown in there may have made the story move a bit faster….

But – you know what I really enjoyed about the book?  It was the honesty – as soon as something detrimental happened to Charlie – she shared it with Knox – well most of the time!

Re-Cap
Knox is badly wounded and his recuperation is going to be slow. As time goes on though – they both realize that there is more than just sexual attraction as they become friends and start to wonder what it would be like to trust again and maybe take that next step….

****4.5 Knox Stars***

It's all about Knox for me in this book, he's so freaking hot and just I loved it!

I truly enjoyed this story, not a lot of angst but mostly just great characters, tons of sexy times and overall really entertaining . I'm very excited to discover more of this series and more of what this author has to offer.

DNF at 55%. I started out liking it, but as the book goes, it starts to drag and get repetitive. The premise sounds interesting and I enjoy a good military hero. However, it was hard to relate to him. He was cheated on when he was 18, 11 years ago, and he's still hurting over the experience and automatically assumes all women will do the same thing. Maybe if it had happened more recently, I'd have an easier time believing it. The heroine is a strong, smart, independent woman and I did like her, but I just wasn't feeling her attraction to Knox.

Also, not a fan of that almost stream-of-consciousness style of writing. The narrative seems disjointed, repetitive, and hard to follow at times. There are way too many details that make it drag. Really, there's no need to describe that a person opens the door, gets out of the car, and walks to the front door. You can skip it, it's implied. There's also a lot of telling rather than showing. Sometimes the characters say out loud what they just thought in their narrative the line before.

Frankly, I've spent 3 days trying to read this and I can't get into it. Once I realize I don't care what happens to the characters next, I know it's time to move on. There's a lot of potential in this book and with some tighter editing, it might become a wonderful story. Maybe others will enjoy it better, but it just wasn't for me. Sorry.
