The SWAC will compete at four different meets this weekend

Southern is the only SWAC school hosting its own meet this weekend.

Paige Rankin and Artrailia Lesane’s (Alabama State) have finished first in at least one event so far this outdoor season.

Alcorn State and Texas Southern are the only schools this weekend to participate at the same invite. The Skecher’s Carl Knight Classic hosted by Stephen F. Austin

For the second consecutive year, the SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship will take place at historic Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans, La. This venue has played host to the 1992 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials for the 1992 Summer Olympic games held in Barcelona, Spain.

SWAC Athlete of the Week

Demetrious Williams – Texas Southern
Position: Jumps
Class: Junior
Hometown: Boston, Mass.

Williams captured a first place finish at the the Victor Lopez Classic hosted at Rice University last weekend. The Boston, Massachusetts native jumped 46 feet 7.5 inches to take first place. It would mark his longest jump and first win of the outdoor season. He also placed sixth in the long jump (23-02.75).
