Analysis: The Rice Owls have had a fine year so far, going 7-3 overall and 5-1 in Conference USA, with their lone conference loss cone at North Texas a few weeks ago. Taylor McHargue does a solid job running this offense as he has thrown for 1746 yards and 8 Tds, while rushing for 339 yards and another 5 Tds. Charlie Ross has 1013 yards rushing and 11 Tds and he leads a powerful Rice ground attack that ranks 15^th in the nation, with 242.4 ypg. Overall the Owls are 55^th in total offense and 51^st in scoring offense, putting up 31.3 ppg. On defense the Owls have been very solid this year as they have allowed 373.7 ypg, which is 43^rd in the nation and 22.7 ppg, which is 32^nd. They are extremely good vs the pass, allowing just 198.7 ypg through the air, which is 16^th nationally.

The Blazers have had a horrible year so far, going 2-8 overall and 1-5 within the conference. UAB come in on a 4 game losing streak and they have been really blasted in their last 2 games, losing by 42 and 49 points in those two games. Jonathan Perry has started at quarterback the last two games and has thrown for 386 yards, with 1 TD and 2 INTs in the two game. The Blazers’ other quarterback, Austin Brown, has thrown for 1,199 yards with 9 Tds and 3 INTs n the year. The Blazers do have a solid RB duo as Jordan Howard and Darrin Reaves have 800+ yards on the ground each. On defense, the Blazers are one of the worst in the nation, ranking 118^th overall and 120^th in points allowed, giving up 42.6 ppg on the year.

Pick: Going with the Owls here. This team is rolling right and the UAB defense is just plain Awful. I don't see them being able to stop Rice at all in this game, while their own offense won't get much going vs a solid Owl defense. Look for the Owls to win this one by at least 24 points.
