Settlement Decided in 2013 Dog Attack Case

Wichita Falls, Texas - This week, 30th District Court Judge Bob Brotherton signed a judgment finalizing a $495,000 settlement for a family whose 4-year-old daughter was attacked by a Rottweiler on June 29, 2013 inside Petsmart on Lawrence road.

The settlement stems from the June 29, 2013 injuries to 4-year-old Isabella Quintana. The Quintana family came to Petsmart from their home in Lawton to look at and purchase fish.  On that day, Petsmart was hosting an "Adopt a Dog" event.

While Isabella, her brother and mother were standing close to the check-out counter, a Rottweiler that was being shown around the store for adoption violently attacked Isabella on her face and head. She was taken by medical helicopter to Cook Children's Hospital and made a full recovery. The Quintana family is now deployed overseas.

A few weeks after the attack, the Rottweiler was killed by another dog during a fight.

According to lawyers, "This was a preventable injury. Had Petsmart had in place a requirement that potentially dangerous breeds of dogs, such as Rottweiler’s and Pitbulls be muzzled before being brought into the store, this would not have happened."
