Township Board Discusses MUPUD
Request From Aldi and Eyde

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the last Township Board Meeting, Aldi and Eyde requested a Mixed Used Planned Unit Development at 5155 Marsh Road.

The structure would consist of one commercial building and twenty four apartments. The original plan was to have two separate apartment buildings from the Aldi consisting of twelve apartments each. The change was made to increase walk-ability in the area and reduce the size of the parking lot.

"I want to thank you for hearing our comments and translating that into this next iteration of the design. I think it's a big improvement over the last one," said Treasurer Julie Brixie.

The board still has some concerns about the size of the parking lot, the amount of green space, and the amount of trees.

The board also discussed a Special Use Permit request from Aldi and Eyde to construct a group of buildings greater than 25,000 square feet.
