Brendan Dolan made an early check-out from the partypoker.com World Grand Prix in Dublin, while holder Michael van Gerwen progressed to the second round.

Northern Irishman Dolan, the runner-up in the competition in 2011, was beaten by former BDO champion Jelle Klaasen, 2-1.

Jamie Lewis also accounted for Limerick's William O'Connor on the same scoreline.

Champion van Gerwen defeated Keegan Brown, 2-1, while the heavyweight battle of the night saw Adrian Lewis account for Raymond van Barneveld, 2-0.

There were also wins for Mark Webster, Kim Huybrechts and Dave Chisnall.

Phil Taylor and current world champion Gary Anderson begin their tournament at Citywest tonight.

Also in action is Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney who faces Robert Thornton.

The overall winner gets a cheque for £100,000.
