Attorneys for the family of Chad Oulson, 43, the man killed in the Wesley Chapel movie theater shooting Monday, issued a statement Thursday night indicating that a trust fund is being set up to help the family.

Details of the trust fund will be released shortly, according to the statement from the firm of McIntyre, Panzarella, Thanasides, Bringgold & Todd. In the meantime, checks can be sent to the firm, 501 E Kennedy Blvd., Suite 1900, Tampa, Fl. 33602. Checks should be made to the Chad Oulson Memorial Fund.

"This case has moved many members of the community to ask whether they can donate to the surviving family members," the statement says.

Oulson's wife, Nicole, was injured when the bullet that killed her husband hit her hand.

"Even today, she is undergoing surgery and other medical treatment," her lawyers said in the statement.

Nicole Oulson is "grieving the death of her husband . . . (and) comforting the couple's 22-month-old daughter, who has lost her father," the statement says.

The statement asks the media to respect the family's privacy, though Nicole Oulson plans to "make further statements when she can, and we will let you know exactly when she decides to do so."
