Time Inc. has partnered with professional sports leagues to launch live-streaming digital video network 120 Sports.
The network, which premieres today at 6 p.m. ET, represents a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the sports leagues, including Major League Baseball Advanced Media, the National Hockey League, the PGA Tour, the National Basketball Association and NASCAR. Digital sports media group Silver Chalice and college sports website Campus Insiders are also partners.
The network will feature live commentary, news, analysis, social discussions and game highlights all packaged into 120-second segments. It will broadcast out of a production facility in Chicago with hosts including ESPN veteran Michael Kim, Super Bowl champion Bryant McFadden, former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker and former MLB All-Star pitcher Danny Graves. Sports Illustrated will also contribute to 120 Sports programming.
The free, ad-supported platform built by MLBAM will make its online home at 120Sports.com. It will also be available via an app for Apple mobile devices and on publishing partners including the newly launched Sports Illustrated mobile and web platforms. An Android version will be available for download through Google Play on July 14.
“120 Sports has been years in the making, and as digital media consumption continues to grow, the time is right to launch a network that provides sports fans with a new way to consume their sports news and entertainment,” 120 Sports president Jason Coyle said. “120 Sports will keep fans up-to-date on all sports as they happen, when and where they want it and at the pace they demand.”
