Black Hills Angel

Andy Martin is completely and utterly at the end of her rope. She is both mother, father, and provider to her infant daughter, Harper. Her family has turned their backs. Her job is nearly non-existent with her inability to make it there. The lack of sleep and lack of faith in humanity is devastating. There is nowhere left to turn for help. Angels come when we least expect them.
Matt Johnson has lived his entire life in the Black Hills of South Dakota. He knows the value of family, duty, and loyalty. It is quite a shock when he finds a screaming baby and its crying mother in an apartment hallway. Something unexplainable draws him forward and coaxes him into her life. All he wants is to ease her burden and show her that people can be trusted. Love has a funny way of showing a person just where they are meant to be and Matt is in for a wild ride.

A Nebraska native, A.C. Wilson now lives in historic Abilene, Kansas with her husband and two boys. Always an avid reader, A.C. first fell in love with historical romances both Regency and Western. The world was a wide open place where adventures could happen even between the pages of a book. Deciding to give the characters in her head some room to breathe, A.C. started typing and hasn't looked back.

The Black Hills series books are contemporary western romances set in the iconic beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota. The Johnson family holds true to their values of love, duty, family, and loyalty.

Broken Country novels featuring Levi and Taryn begin with Discovering Taryn. It is a "clean" young adult romance spinoff from the Black Hills Series. The family values continue as a young woman tries to find her way in life and love and a young man learns the meaning of patience and perserverence.

Black Hills Angel
By AC Wilson

In this book, Andy (a single mother of a 5 month old little girl named Harper) meets a complete stranger who finds her in a time of need. Matt finds Andy in the hall outside of her apartment, crying as her daughter cries.

The relationship between Matt and Andy is one that is relatable. They start as friends but soon grow into something more. Andy is very hesitant to enter into a relationship with Matt after Harper’s father died in action in Afghanistan. When she finally does face her fears and forms a relationship with Matt, she doesn’t count on his psycho ex-girlfriend to try to kill her.

Their relationship has bumps in it, just like every relationship does. In the end, they both get what they want out of life (read to find out what that is!)

I rate this book an A+ on the Nerd Alert Book Love Book Scale. It was a great read. I loved how AC Wilson portrayed the hardships of a single mother, as well as the struggles of everyday life. I highly recommend this book!

Andy is a single mother who has been abandoned by her own family because she chose to keep her baby after finding out she was pregnant from a one night stand. Andy is struggling with work and Harper as Harper is a little difficult at times. One day Andy is having a bit of a melt down and Matt Johnson the boy across the hall has his own business with his brother Garrett he is smart and sexy! He sees her and is automatically drawn to her and Harper and cannot imagine his life without them in it but they have to overcome a lot of obstacles and learn to trust each other for their relationship to work.

I really enjoyed this book it made me smile. I love the characters they are all created perfectly. The story is a beautiful one and it draws you in with the mystery behind Andy’s past. There are some sexy steamy parts to this book you can really feel the love between Matt and Andy. It was a HEA it still left me with some questions but I’m sure they will be answered in the next one which I cannot wait for. I highly recommend this if you’re after a beautiful romance story to read!

If my book OCD had not kicked in, Black Hills Angel would have been a DNF. The plot really drags, and the book would have been better if edited to 100 pages shorter. The reader must suspend reality too much in this contemporary romance—which gives the reader the sense that the author did not research or have the experience to make the stalking-suspense plot realistic in the first half of the book or to make ranch come alive in the last part of the book.

Do you remember the first book you read that made you fall in love with reading? Do you remember the feeling you had after you finished that last page?

Well this book has reminded me why I love reading. The characters were so easy to fall in love with and their story was one that made me wish I could live it myself.

I was drawn to this book for two reasons. One, the cover. I know that sounds goofy but let's face it, covers have a HUGE impact on what we choose to read. While we all try to follow the age old saying of "don't judge a book by its cover", today it's hard not to - the covers have a huge impact on our decision to read. Two, the Black Hills part of it. My husband and I took a road trip for our honeymoon to South Dakota and I fell in love with the area. The second that I read the "Black Hills" part of the title, I knew I had to read it.

I cannot even tell you how glad I am that I read this one. It had been on my TBR list for awhile but review deadlines kept me from reading it until now.

Matt and Andy are just perfect. Their story is so sweet.

Andy is a single mother to a 3 month old baby girl named Harper. Not only is Andy single, but she doesn't have the support of her family and doesn't have any close friends in Rapid City, SD. She has a breakdown one morning, feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders, and Matt is there to help.

Matt is a stranger. They've never met before yet he throws everything he has into helping Andy and Harper. I fell in love with Matt the very second that he found Andy in the hallway. It's not everyday a man will give all he has to a woman and her 3 month old baby, especially if he knows nothing about her.

As their story continues, they get closer and closer and learn more about one another. They each have secrets that they'd like to keep hidden but that doesn't stop them from falling for each other.

When Matt's secret becomes a risk to Andy and Harper's safety, all bets are off. Matt does all he can to protect the two special ladies in his life, even if that means prying into Andy's past.

To say that I loved this book would be an understatement. I needed this book. I needed a book that would remind me why it is I do what I do, why I sign up for review after review, and this is that book.

If it's not already obvious - I give this one 5 stars, more if I could!

Ok, first of all, let me just say wow! This book is packed from cover to cover! There isn't anything this book is lacking, action, suspense, mysteries, secrets, trust issues, you name it!!
Here we have Andy, a young woman who is trying to make it as a single mother on her own. Andy has a past that she can't even share with her parents, so how could she share it with anyone else? Right now her daughter Harper is her sole focus. One day Andy and Harper have just had a horrible morning, when enters, hero, Matt.
Matt finds Andy and Harper by opening a borrowed apartment door to find a screaming baby and a crying mother. He doesn't really know what to make of the blubbering mess he has stumbled upon, but for some reason, he feels the need to try to find a way to help.
Matt and Andy start to spend time together, and as they do, they can't help but notice the mutual attraction. However, there are secrets and old flames that start to bring them trouble. One has a stalker that doesn't understand the word no, and will not relent. While the other has issues that they don't know how to deal with or even talk about.
Can these two make a relationship possible? With an instant family and trouble everywhere they go? They'd both like to but will fate relent and allow them to find happiness with each other and build a future?
If you're intrigued (even half as much as I was) you should pick up a copy of your very own. Don't miss out on Matt and Andy's story in Black Hills Angel by AC Wilson.
The only thing that held this from being a 5 star book for me were the proofing errors, though overall, this is a beautiful love story. I say you should definitely add this to your tbr list!

Andy is a single mother who got pregnant from a one night stand and was abandoned by her family when she decided to keep the baby.

Andy is having an incredibly hard time with work and looking after Harper. Andy is having a small break down one day and Matt Johnson the boy across the hall who has a business with his brother Garrett. Matt is smart, and sexy as a guy can get Matt sees Andy and is instantly drawn to her and Harper. He begins to realize that he can't imagine his life without either of them in it, however, they all have a lot of work to do in order for it to work out.

This book made me smile and laugh. The characters were writen to perfection and created perfectly. The story draws you in and shows the mystery behind Andy and her past life. Many moments between Matt and Andy are steamy and show the love in the relationship between them.

I highly recommended this book for anyone in the mood for a good story. I can't wait to read the more books by A.C in the future.

This was a good book. Andy Martin is a likable character, and Harper is adorable. When Matt find Andy and her daughter crying in the hallway of her apartment building, he decides to do what he can to help her out, and falls in love with her and her daughter along the way.

A fairly average romance. The characters were likable and the challenges interesting. A single mother, abandoned by her own family meets a successful man with a very close family. The premise is a good one but I think the author got lost somewhere in the middle. The secrets took too long to resolve and she didn't need to describe every single time they had sex. I think if the book had been shorter and if she provided more decisive resolutions for the single mother's own family, the story would have flowed better and would have been more satisfying. Two and a half stars.

From their first meeting in the hallway outside Andy’s apartment, she and Matt had a connection. Matt also feels an instant connection to Andy’s infant daughter, Harper. When Matt takes Andy on their first real date, without baby Harper, Matt’s psycho ex-girlfriend interrupts. Monica has been stalking Matt, and now that he’s been seeing Andy, Monica is wreaking havoc that includes slashing all of Andy’s tires. While seeking out protection orders against Monica, Matt moves Andy and Harper in with him and his brother Garrett and she also meets and bonds with their sister Nora. Just when things seem to be going right for Andy, she gets a call from baby Harper’s uncle that upsets Andy enough that she finally opens up about the sad story surrounding Harper’s father. Things get far worse for Andy when Monica resurfaces and her torment of Matt and Andy escalates. Further drama ensues when Matt takes Andy back to his parents’ home for sister Nora’s wedding. In the end will love be enough to keep Andy and Matt together?
Black Hills Angel, the first in the Black Hills series, is a wonderful read. It’s filled with tender love scenes, hope, and just enough conflict that it will keep you on the edge of your seat. Andy is endearing as a single mother struggling with the day to day trials of raising a baby alone and working when she meets Matt. Matt is the knight in shining armor that many single mothers only wish they could meet, a man with a heart of gold that loves both Andy and her baby unconditionally. With the initial exception of Matt’s mother, the reader will fall in love with Matt and his family, as they are so accepting and genuinely kind. You’ll find yourself crossing your fingers that Matt and Andy, as well as Nora and Randy, will have their happily ever after. Even his mother is won over in the end and Andy and Harper get the family that they deserve all along. This book will give you hope that in the end love can truly conquer all, no matter what issues a couple finds before them.

***Contains Graphic Sex, Strong Language and Adult Situations. Not for young readers***

Andy Martin is a stressed out, worn out single mum that has a day that just keeps getting worse, when she breaks down in the hallway of her apartment block, Matt Johnson wakes up to hear a commotion going on outside the apartment where he is staying for the weekend… He goes to investigate and he takes one look at the frazzled beauty crying on the steps surrounded by baby paraphernalia and holding a car seat containing screaming baby… and dives into help and ends up spending the day with the pair, he becomes smitten with both mum and baby. Andy feels a connection too, but is very wary… But she falls hard whether she likes it or not!
Their fledgling romance is hindered by Andys fears and secrets and also Matts Stalker Ex Girlfriend.
As you read, you get involved with their journey as their relationship deepens and you begin to wish and hope that they get their HEA… and to find out I recommend you buy the book and read it yourself.
The writing style was free flowing, the characters were nicely developed and I grew to love them all… with the exception of the Ex and at first Matts Mum!
I am guessing we will learn more about Matt’s family in the other books to be published this year and they are on my TBR list now.
The book is filled with hope, romance but also a bit of mystery in regards to Andy’s past and Matts Ex causing drama that the pair have to conquer together.
Overall this story was a lovely trip into a world where men still rescue a damsel in distress and that if you let yourself trust again you can have that HEA.
I am definitely going to add Ms Wilson’s to my Author Watch list.

The story line I really really liked and it had a bunch of potential, but sadly I had to stop, I just couldn't go anymore. And it's very long, so I could not do it for like 400 pages. I got to 23% and had to stop, I was just too annoyed. 1- What kind of mother leaves their kid with a complete stranger they meet in the hall or his brother or a strange woman that works for Matt?... I understand she is tired, exhausted, on her own , young, etc... but come on... I would NEVER leave my daughter alone with any man I just met in the hallway 15 minutes ago... so that was a huge put off.. also their relationship jumped right into it, maybe if it progressed it would of been way better. The grammar and errors were very distracting and the author needs to learn between they are and they're and etc... basic things... and she says she doesn't drink and Matt asked her like 2-3 times after the fact if she wanted a beer or wine or etc... is he deaf? does he want to get her drunk and take advantage? I didn't get that from his character, but still... it was weird and awkward... so over all I just couldn't finish, maybe I will try again in the future and see if by any miracle it gets better, but sadly I doubt it. If things were differen't I felt it could of been a really good story. But feel very very short. Again, story line had potential... maybe some people will love it? but I just couldn't and I always try and finish a book as a respect to the time the author put into the book, but it has happened maybe 3 times where I just couldn't or I would want to gouge my eyeballs out.

Oh my goodness, I need me a Matt!!

Andy is a single mother at her wit's end. Nothing's going right for her and she finds herself and her daughter both having a meltdown on the ground outside her apartment. Who comes to her rescue but a tall drink of water named Matt! He's barefoot, sexy, and in instant hero mode. Like I said, he's perfect!

Andy's had it rough and has lost her trust in others. She's used to having to do it all on her own for her and her baby, Harper. It's up to Matt to help restore her faith in others and learn that there are good people out there that can be trusted. That's not saying their journey is one without bumps along the way, because there are several! Things from her past find their way back to light along with a psycho ex-girlfriend from his past.

All Andy wants is her happy ever after, isn't that what we all hope for? Matt and his family could be that HEA for both Andy and Harper, if only she can open herself up and take that chance. You need to read Black Hills Angel for yourself to see if Andy is strong enough to take that leap of faith with him or if she and her daughter continue to fly solo.

This was the first book I've read by Ms. Wilson. I enjoyed this book a great deal. She creates very believable characters that you can empathize with. They go through struggles just as any normal person might. There is attraction, fear, humor, drama, hurt found in the pages of this story. I look forward to reading more of this series!

Andy is a single mom with an infant, she is doing this all on her own in a town away from the family who shut her out after learning of her unexpected pregnancy. She never dreamed of doing this all on her own but now she is, she is not sure how much more she can take.

Matt isn't looking to settle down, but when he stumbles upon a crying mother and a screaming baby in the hallway of his buddies apartment he's rethinking everything that he's ever told himself about what he wanted for his future.

I loved this book. It was emotional, heartwarming and real. I could relate to Andy in a lot of ways. I loved her character and how strong she actually was. She had an interesting story and that made her a strong woman. She has dealt with loss more times that any person should but she pushed through and found something worth fighting for. Matt is my new book boyfriend. He really is the ultimate guy, I think that it takes a really awesome man to raise someone else's child, with Matt he never second guessed it. He loved Andy and therefore loved Harper.

You also get an insight into Matt's families lives. Garret and Nora are awesome, Nora is the spitfire sister that everyone hopes for and Garret well seems that he is a mystery. I also loved Matt's parents.

This book flowed well, and you get thrown for several loops along the way. There will be a couple of people thrown into the mix that will shake the whole book up. I cant wait to read Black Hills Blessing.

I give this book 5 stars! I really enjoyed it....I laughed out loud, I also had tears streaming down my face on more than one occasion....Ms. Wilson is a great story teller. She had me right there with the charachters.

Black Hills Angel is a story about a single mom, Andy, struggling to make ends meet....she lives on her own, works, a friend watches her daughter, Harper when Andy goes to work....

One day, she has just had enough of everything going wrong for her, and she and Harper both have a melt down in the hallway outside her apartment.

Matt, wakes up to hearing this meltdown. He is apartment-sitting for a friend. He goes into the hallway to help and Andy and Harper just do something to his heart. He wants to help Andy so much. He begins to come over and spend time with them. The relationship builds over a very short period of time.

Of course, things don't always go right. There is an ex-girlfriend in here who decides noone can have Matt. She goes to great lengths to keep Andy and Matt apart. Instead, these actions draw Matt and Andy closer together.

I think you will really enjoy this book! This is the first book I've read by A. C. Wilson, but I'm going to go find others!

I had high hopes for this one, which is probably why I was so disappointed and hit a DNF at about 55%. Life is too short to read books that aren't enjoyable.

The set up was good - young, single mom struggling to survive with her 3 month old daughter, meets young handsome cowboy in apartment hallway. I thought this would be sweet and something out of my normal reading habits. And it was. But the hook up between our H and h happened too quickly; I mean, you just meet a dude in the hallway, and already you're attracted and thinking about the horizontal tango? Isn't that what got you into this mess in the first place?

I also thought the pacing was way off as well. The romance zips along as if it's strung up on a bungee line, but then where does it go? Plodding details of daily life and work and dinner routines. Yup. All the while, there is no backstory for either the H or h, just their increasing feelings for each other. And ultimately, I didn't really care what they did. If I don't understand their motivations or history, why should I care what they do with their future? The reveal of the heroine's story - why she's single and alone with a newborn in the first place, came so late into the story, that I had already given up. Pass.

Andy is a single mother who is completely overwhelmed and at the end of her tether. Her beautiful baby, Harper, is her pride and joy. But alone, she can’t seem to ever catch up. At her lowest point, along comes Matt. He is kind, compassionate, understanding and sexy to boot.

Matt is like an angel is disguise. He is enchanted by Harper and in lust with Andy. And the attraction is mutual. There is a running undercurrent throughout the novel of attraction and lust which makes it all the more exciting. You wait to see what is going to happen next and are not left hanging.

A. C. Wilson doesn’t disappoint. There is a continuity and flow that makes this book very easy to read and very hard to put down. The characters are interesting and keep developing as the novel goes on and the side characters are also charming and engaging.

I would give this novel 4 ½ stars. I think as the author matures in her writing, she will become even better. I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

I have always had a fascination with everything cowboy, so I was thoroughly engaged with this book, its setting, and wonderfully complex characters! A.C. Wilson's Matt is everything a woman wants in a man. He's strong, sensitive, has a strong sense of family, and loves with all of his heart. Andy is the single mother of a beautiful 3 month old daughter. Literally on her own, she meets Matt in the most unexpected place - the hallway of her apartment building! Events make it that Matt feels she's unsafe where she is and takes her to his home. Sparks fly, but that is never enough to make a relationship work.

Will Matt and Andy be able to overcome their pasts, and the people that stand in their way, and forge a family? Will Matt's family accept Andy and Harper, or will they be unhappy with Matt taking on a 'ready-made' family? Will Harper's father be a problem?

Spend some time at Cross Pines Ranch with Matt, Andy, and the rest of the Johnson clan! It is time well spent; and, like me, you'll be rushing to read the next book - Black Hills Blessing.

This was an excellent book. The main characters are Matt and Andy. They first meet when Andy is in the hallway crying because her baby, Harper, is crying. Matt sweeps her off of her feet. They immediately have an attraction. There is a problem. That problem is that Matt has a psycho ex. She will stop at nothing to keep them apart. What she does is draw them closer. There are a lot of ups and downs during this book. Secret keeping is the root of it all. There are some things that are discussed in the book that are still a mystery. I'm guessing that they will be resolved as this series continues. Nevertheless, you can still read this book as a stand alone and come to your own conclusions. No cliffhanger, but you know there will be another book about one of Matt's family members. Dual point of view. There were some tearful moments for me. There were some happy moments. The setting of the book, South Dakota, sounds breathtaking. The descriptions of the places, things, and yes cowboy Matt were wonderful.

This was a great book to read, if you want a romance story this is the one for you.
If you like a hot cowboy and the promise of steamy sex scenes go and buy this book now.
I immediately fell in love with Matt Johnson. His and Andy’s connection had you routing for them to be together and stay together, but that’s not how life works. The twists and turns in it are great. They keep you on the edge of your seat and I found myself reading later and later into the night.
It had me feeling all kinds of emotions from laughter to apprehension. This book made me smile in some places and swoon in others.
I loved all of the characters and I hope there is another book to come, as I would like to know more about Nora (Matt’s sister) and also it would be nice to see how Andy’s and Matt’s future would be – an epilogue would have been the icing on the cake.
This is one of those books that leave you smiling once you have finished reading it and wishing it had 300 more pages!!

This was an intense love affair from beginning to end. Matt walks in to Andy's life right when she needed him the most. He was so sweet and took right to his place as lover, protector, and angel. Andy was so strong yet had reached her breaking point. I have a few single mom friends and know that it can be so much harder being a mom when you are alone. Cue crazy ex-girlfriends and more chaos and then add a wonderfully supportive man. Though these two go through so much in such a short time it does not take away the lust, love or devotion that they have for each other and Harper. There were a few things that I kind of felt should have been answered but hopefully we get those in the next book. As this takes place in the Black Hills, which is also my home, I could really see everything and relate to the characters and the scenery so much more.

I loved this book! I am from the Black Hills so I was intrigued by the title and it did not disappoint. It made me feel like I was home again and I could totally picture my surroundings. Andy is a single mother struggling to make ends meet and care for her daughter. She has a hard time trusting anyone but she finds herself giving in to the one person who was there for her when she needed someone the most, Matt. Matt is a true country gentleman and extremely sexy. He has patience, knows what he wants from the start, and how to show his love for Andy. This story has drama, suspense, sadness, happiness, courage, loyalty, and love. It is a fantastic read and I am so happy I found A.C. Wilson. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out so I can read about Matt's sexy brother Garrett!!

Being a single mom is very tough, but it is even tougher when your own family & friends abandon you! If things can go wrong, they usually do with more than a few things. For Andy, no sleep and the babysitter's car broke down and she is going to be late to work, again, it is a disaster waiting to happen. Then she makes it to the hall, collapses with a screaming baby and she gives in to her sad, lonely feelings and cries. Out of the apartment across the hall comes an angel, Matt, who helps her and he thinks her and baby Harper are his angels. Trust is something Andy has very little of and Matt has to work really hard and slow to gain her trust.
Out of the woodwork comes his ex-girlfriend who is psychotic and a threat to their happiness.
They go through so much but Matt comes out on top and they live happily.
Love this saga and can't wait for the next installment.

Now don't laugh but I thought when I got this it was an MC story. The title seemed like a great name for a MC club. Didn't read the synopsis before. Plus I had it sitting on my shelf just waiting for me to read. Once I started reading I quickly realized it was not an MC story. Andy is a single mom to a three month old daughter. The one night she gave her virginity she got pregnant and her family did not accept her choice in keeping the baby. Which meant she struggled to support herself and her daughter. Then one day when she is having another bad day and literally just collapses in the hallway of her apartment she comes face to face with Matt. The attraction was instantaneous. The build up to get to where they want was the best part of the book. My only negatives were not knowing what became of Lance Harper and Monica. Would say more about these two but then it would give too much away.

“Bored out of my gourd” is the first phrase that comes to mind when I think about my experience with this story. I fact I can’t honestly say I even read a quarter of this book so as of now I am going to add Black Hills Angel to my “did not finish” list.

I think I mostly read the parts with lots of dialogue but skipped pages when it all started dragging into blah blah blah. I am not even sure if there was more to the book then Andy and Matt connecting and becoming a couple. Sorry for the vague review but when you can’t get into or wrap your mind around boring it defeats the purpose of reading.
