Memorial Health officials announced today a partnership with North Carolina-based  Novant Health  to build a $28 million free- standing children's hospital on the Waters Avenue campus.

Maggie Gill, president/CEO of the parent corporation of Memorial University Medical Center, said today the four-year project with result in creation of The Children's Hospital of Savannah,  A Memorial-Novant Partnership.

When completed, it will replace the present Children's Hospital at Memorial, now housed on the second and third floor of the main hospital building, in what is now the Rehabilitation Institute facing the Truman Parkway.

Those rehab services will move back into the main hospital building.

Under the agreement with Novant, Memorial will provide the building, land and day-to-day operations management and Novant will contribute  a multi-million dollar sum for the project, Gill said.

"This collaboration will create a new and unique presence for our children's hospital, bringing together more than 20 pediatric subspecialties  under a single roof," Gill said.
