What would he complain about?
What would he say he loved?
What would his little voice sound like?
We can only imagine... for now.
We imagine, if he could talk today,
we would get in trouble for whole range of things!
We're sure Dexter would tell us to stop kissing him...
to quit being annoying.
He'd probably tell us that vegetables are yuck
and that he doesn't want to go to bed yet.
He'd probably tell us his sister hit him
and he doesn't know where he put the remote.
He'd probably yell and scream "No!"
in the midst of a tired tantrum...
(Oh man! We'd love to hear that from Dexter!)
We're working on giving him his words...
Hopefully one day.
We've shared this you tube video before.
It's Scott Belkner.
Scott's got a cheeky attitude and a bit of spunk... just like Dexter.
Scott's got no words... just like Dexter.
Scott's got determination and persistence... just like Dexter.
Scott's got cerebral palsy... just like Dexter.
In this video, Scott is almost 30 years old.
We wonder what Dexter will have to say, when he is 30 years old.
prevents him from doing what he wants to do.
Dexter gets frustrated, too.
Scott's cheek makes us smile.
We were asked whether Dexter would always be a vegetable.
In Scott's words, that's 'bullshit'.
When people like Scott and Dexter never, ever give up,
there's no limits on what they can achieve.
Their cerebral palsy will never be cured...
it will never just 'go away',
but they can achieve whatever they set their mind to.
Like Scott said, 'It just take me a little longer'.
'Go Hard or Go Home'.
Living with cerebral palsy is incredibly difficult.
People with cerebral palsy use far more energy
each day than the rest of us do.
They face countless challenges. And yet, they don't want our pity.
Instead, we need to learn from their strength.
Dexter's had cerebral palsy for almost three years.
We've learned so much,
but we have much more to learn.
It's quite a ride... definitely not for the weak of heart.
It's lucky we have such a cheeky, determined and stubborn little boy.
Who knows what stories he'll have when he's 30!
