Update: Mom charged with assault after speeding victim away
SAGINAW, MI -- A 12-year-old girl was stabbed in the chest during an eight-person fight, and police have arrested a suspect in the investigation, a Saginaw Police Department spokesman said.
The fight occurred between a group
of six females against a male and female and happened at
11:13 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, on South Michigan near McGregor, police said.
The fight started over communications on Facebook, Saginaw Police Detective Sgt. Reggie Williams said Tuesday.
Police believe the 12-year-old victim's injuries are non life-threatening, and she was treated at a Saginaw hospital. Police did not recover a weapon related to the incident, Williams said Tuesday.
Police have arrested one suspect in the case, Williams said. The case is not currently being investigated as a gang-related incident, Williams said.
