LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After helping the Clarion University women's volleyball team to a perfect 4-0 weekend at the California (Pa.) Invitational, Golden Eagle freshman middle hitter Gabrielle Olson is the PSAC West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.
 
Olson led Clarion (8-0) with 2.36 kills per set and 1.57 blocks per set while hitting a tournament-best .380 (33 kills, 6 errors, 71 attempts) in wins over Caldwell (3-0), Cedarville (3-0), Fairmont St. (3-0) and Rollins (3-2).
 
She was at her best in the come-from-behind win over Rollins helping Clarion rally from a 2-0 deficit to get the win by recording a team-best 17 kills while adding eight blocks and hitting .405 (17-2-37). Nine of her kills and four of her blocks came in the final three sets including a 5-kill fourth set and a 3-block third set.
 
On the season, Olson is averaging 2.19 kills and 1.07 blocks per set while hitting .352.
 
Clarion, which earned votes in this week's AVCA Coaches' Top 25 poll, returns to action with four PSAC Crossover matches this weekend. The Golden Eagles are at Millersville Friday where they will place Millersville and Lock Haven before traveling to Shippensburg Saturday to take on Shippensburg and Pitt-Johnstown.
