Willpower is overrated.

Manhattan’s most eligible bachelor, Kyle Hunter, is a Marine Corps vet, the son of a US Senator and the prodigal heir of American corporate royalty. He’s rich, smart and a notorious flirt. Kyle Hunter is also in love with his best friend. So why did he tell Manny they could never see each other again?

Manny Tescadero isn’t about to be hurt twice. He’s lost a lot and if there’s one thing he learned in Afghanistan, it’s to defend yourself and those who need you at all costs. When Rebecca Sinclair lands on his doorstep, his honor won’t let him turn her away. His heart won’t let him pretend there isn’t more to it than a soldier’s code. But new love interests aren’t part of the mission plan; not when he’s still in love with someone else.

Rebecca Sinclair has never been good at letting loose. As a librarian she has her dream job and a new start with an amazing apartment in the city that never sleeps. She thought she was happy until everything she’s worked for is gone in a flash. Turns out having it all may just mean something else entirely.

There are a mountain of reasons why they shouldn’t be together and not one stands a chance of keeping them apart.

A Hearts On Fire Review

THREE & A HALF HEARTS--Two ex-Marines best friends that went GFY and a carefree lady librarian MMF sandwich. Hold the pickle.

j/k

Add two.

In "Make Me" by Alyssa Turner, two ex-Marines best friends, Manny and Kyle have been friends for ten years and during that time have had a number of threesomes together but could not deny their feelings for each other. Unfortunately one of the men couldn't handle being out of the closet and walked away. Manny meets Rebecca in a sublet mix-up and the two are stuck with each other...and are also in lust? While these two get to know one another, enter Kyle (also a rich son of a US Senator) trying to win his man back and the woman he's falling for.

Quite the triangle, huh?

"If this doesn't work, then he really is the fucking tin man."
"Pretty sure he has a heart."
"And a nice fat cock."
"I remember".
He winked at her again. "I'll bet you do."

This story is 100% erotic romance but I had to rate the erotica and romance separately because together it mostly works. The erotica was definitely stronger than the romance. The plot is mostly light with a minor suspense-ish twist in the last 10% (very brief, thankfully).

The Erotica - It's leaning more towards 4 HEARTS - The sex scenes were spicy hot. Based on the sex alone (and ignoring the "romance") it worked. The sex was the strongest part of the book. There was a brief mention of contact solution used as lube, a scene where one of the three MC was a naked sushi buffet, a double penetration scene and even outdoors sex. Rebecca was always wet and ready for action. Manny was the conflicted, heart damaged man who yearns for something solid. Kyle was seduction incarnate, with sly quips and lines. The sex was hot but not scorching, some scenes I had to reread to understand who put what where but overall, it was enjoyable. On a scale of 1-10 on the sex-o-meter, I'll give it a 6.5

"Hands down, you're the most beautiful when you're turned on."
She smiled. "That's all your fault," she said looking at both of them.
"Then we'll both have to fuck you and share the blame."

The Romance - That's more 3 HEARTS. This story was not as smooth as I think it could have been. With menages, I look for believability in each side of the triangle - I like each side to equal or as close to equal as possible. The love and hurt between the boys? I believed it. The author showed some of Manny and Kyle's history (I'd have liked more info or maybe if the prologue to maybe showcase the initial breakup) to give background to their...angst. The thing is Manny seemed more hurt than Kyle yet he gave in so quickly.

"I mean, are you happy?"
"Don't ask me that. I want something I can't have. I have something I shouldn't want. Does that sound like a happy situation?"
Kyle tilted his head. "It sounds totally fucked up."
"Uh-huh."
"Am I the 'can't have or the 'shouldn't want'?"
"Fuck, dude. You're a little bit of both."

Manny and Rebecca seemed to have a stronger connection than Kyle and Rebecca - granted they all got together relatively quickly (yes, it's in the insta-love lane) but I really did not believe Kyle. Rebecca and Kyle didn't have much time to interact and some scenes Rebecca seemed hesitant and the next sentence she just forgot about it and gave in.

The triangle is only strong for two sides and there's that weak Kyle and Rebecca side that I tolerated but did not believe. As a throuple, I guess they could work. The story ends HEA (with a surprise visit from a character from Polished).

Do I think "Make Me" is a HEA? Not really. If something really tough happens in the future, I could picture Kyle bailing. He took the coward's way out too quickly. I have a love-hate feel towards Kyle. He's a fun guy, he's the guy you call when you're horny - he will deliver on phone sex and much more. But he's not my choice for a long term partner for anyone.

The main parts and ideas are good. Sometime the execution was a little off (ex. main characters' complaining about something and the next minute just doing it; thoughts thrown out that were not fully explored such as Kyle's reasoning for liking women) but overall a decent read. It was fun traveling through NY with Manny and Rebecca. And Kyle was very seductive, I will definitely give him that.

I am disappointed when MMF is disguised MFM (an author will give one paltry blowjob scene to make it technically MMF--hate that) but thankfully this author is not one to do this. I have not been disappointed in the MM aspect in her MMF books I've read. If you're looking for a lighter, erotic MMF with a fun NY background, you should try this book. It's quick, not angst heavy, not heavily military influenced with not too much depth.

Uncomplicated.

How the Worst Day Started the Best Chapter

What had been looking like the worst day for Rebecca turned out to be the best thing to happen to her as it brought her Manny, then Kyle. I liked that the story feels very realistic with judgment, ridicule, people who think they know better, love, shared secrets, heartache, and the fear that causes people to run or lash out. The trio has plenty of ups and downs and they sometimes struggle to make it through it all but the HEA is sweet, humbling, and wonderful. I also really liked that when they come together, they mixed it up with any two of them or all together. There really is something hot about two guys! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

UPDATED 7/2021:

I am adding audio to this, an ALC. I LOVED it! 💓💓💓

Donald Duck Beating Heart

Because Alyssa Turner likes to completely spoil her listeners, there are four narrators! I really truly LOVE this about her audio books. 🎧😍💚😍💖🎧 The narrators for this one are Tippy Robinson, Simon King, Adam Riley, and Eva Brooks. All are great!

One thing I see less and less of are dedications but this book, even in the audio, starts with such a sweet one. I was melting before the book even started. *sigh*

Then there are those smoking hot scenes between Rebecca and Kyle and Manny (combination varies; swords cross 💋).... Woo-wee!! *fanning self* Someone should probably call the fire department because I feel an inferno coming on.

Girl on Fire

Reading the words is hot but hearing those words spoken takes them to a whole new level of delectableness.

I had the pleasure of beta reading MAKE ME and I have to be honest, it was pretty perfect from the get-go.

Marines Manny and Kyle are close friends, like really close friends… When their relationship turns into much more than just sharing a beer at a bar, their lives as they once knew it are forever changed. They come under heavy scrutiny for their relationship; effectively driving a wedge between them and the special bond they shared.

As Manny and Kyle struggle to come to grips with their feelings for each other, Rebecca enters the picture. Manny and Kyle have shared women in the past, but there is something different about Rebecca – she is special, there’s something about her that they can’t resist, and she effectively lures them both in and it soon becomes clear that she is the missing piece to their complicated puzzle.

MAKE ME is a fantastic story of love and friendship, heartbreak and happiness. I have read several books by author, Alyssa Turner, but MAKE ME might be my favorite; it’s hot, sexy and sweet rolled into one delicious package. This is a great book to check out for anyone who enjoys erotic romance reads with an actual plot ;-)

Rating: 3 to 3.5

I have come to really enjoy Alyssa Turner's menage stories and the way her characters go through the experience of voicing their needs and desires to a loved one, dealing with insecurities that arise and any other obstacle one can think of. In a Turner book, this usually means broaching the subject of finding that special third person to complete an already established couple. Make no mistake, these stories aren't about a couple who want to add some kink to their love life of inviting a third person into their bed. At the end of the day, it's about three people headed for a committed relationship including all the insecurities, hopes and difficulties along the way to a HEA.

With that said, I've read two such stories by this author and loved them. I really wanted to love this one just as much, but it just didn't have the same emotional impact on me. I liked the dynamics and the connection between Manny, Kyle and Rebecca, but it kept going on and off for me like a switch. I thought Manny and Kyle were great together, but perhaps it was because they already had a long history before Rebecca showed up. There was nothing really to dislike about Rebecca. She was sweet, sassy and open-minded, but I just didn't care one way or another about her. Even as I say that, she was a good fit for both of the men. Each of them underwent a good character development in learning to accept and embrace their wants and needs, and steadily working their way to a relationship. I particularly liked the moments of insecurity from Manny and Rebecca. I found it realistic for them to question their roles and the rules.

As far as the plot went, I felt a few things were a little predictable. A senator for a mother and Kyle, the hero son, in a three-way relationship with a man and a woman was bound to be a major source of conflict and drama, and it was. Some of the sex scenes were better than others, but overall you should think of having a bucket of ice water on stand-by.

I realize this review may sound as if I disliked more than I liked, but that is not the case. Make Me just didn't turn me inside out like the other stories by this author did. However, I think this would be an excellent choice if you're new to her writing and curious about reading a menage story where the outcome is a committed relationship between three people versus just adding a third person to the bedroom to spice things up, if that makes sense. Read this story and get acquainted with the idea. Either way, this author is one of my favorites when I'm in the mood to step out of my comfort zone for a bit (I hate angst, but she sucks me in every time). If you're daring enough and ready to jump in the deep end, definitely pick up either By Surprise or Polished. They are standalones and have a HEA.

Great MMF story! This book was Sweet & Hot! I really enjoyed all the characters! Rebecca was just a little feisty, Manny was the tough guy and Kyle was the more dominant one. Together these three were perfect! Each of their personalities really complimented the others! I loved that Kyle and Manny already had been together and that it wasn't the same storyline of most ménage books where the one guy always plays the "no I can't feel this way" person in the relationship. I also loved that they all wanted to be open! The sex scenes were extremely hot too! I will be reading more by this author!

I love when a book by a new to me author drops into my lap and I especially love it when I thoroughly enjoy that book. Make Me by Alyssa Turner is a complicated story of two men whose relationship almost cost them their military careers and the woman they both find they need as much as they need each other. This isn’t a pretty love story, the road to happiness for these three is quite bumpy and not without some heartbreak and a scandal but in the end they all three realize that the love they share is more important than anything else in their world.
Returning from a thirty day business trip Rebecca Sinclair finds herself locked out of her apartment and Manny Tescadero living in it. Manny’s grandmother owned the apartment and left it to Manny on her death. After trying unsuccessfully to locate Rebecca, he moved her out and moved himself in. Now back, it’s obvious she’s pissed but they both find it hard to not be attracted to one another. However, Manny stops things before they go too far and confesses he’s still trying to get over someone. What Rebecca doesn’t know is that someone is Manny’s long time best friend and former lover, Kyle Hunter.
From the beginning I wasn’t sure how this book was going to work out. Rebecca and Manny while attracted had a hard time communicating on a nice level. They seemed to antagonize each other with every word, yet there also seemed to be something special about their interactions. Manny was protective and worried about Rebecca and Rebecca was very understanding about Manny’s situation and how the loss of his grandmother affected him. When Kyle enters the picture, the reader begins to understand why Manny was so affected by the way Kyle left him. Yet, it’s also obvious there is something special between these two that goes way beyond the friendship they once shared. Complicated doesn’t even begin to explain the relationship between these three, but I liked that it wasn’t easy and that they had to fight for what they wanted because it made the reward of them being together that much sweeter.
While the majority of this story is about these three trying to figure out how to manage their unusual relationship and their feelings for one another, there’s more to this book. Kyle’s mother is in a senate race, Rebecca has an ex-suitor who isn’t taking rejection well, and Rebecca’s job is on the line as well. This all adds a lot of stress and depth to an already full story.
What I found really interesting about this book is while the two men had a few previous ménage encounters it was before they became lovers. Kyle admits he agreed to them to be closer to Manny, so when these three begin none of them really have a clue how this type of relationship works and it takes time and patience for them to begin to understand and be tolerant of all nuances of a triad relationship. They have no problems figuring out how to work the sexy times when the three of them are together. There are some seriously hot scenes between the three of them, but accepting that it’s okay for two of them to be alone together forces them to deal with some jealously and doubt.
Make Me by Alyssa Turner was an enlightening and extremely pleasurable story with characters I won’t soon forget. I know this is one book I’ll read again and again.

I don’t know about you guys, but for me personally, I just love MMF ménage stories. Something is just so very sexy having everyone in love where they place no limitations on the relationship. MAKE ME is a splendid example of how an author can take a relationship like this, and make the reader believe that it could really work and have longevity.

When Manny and Rebecca first meet, the sparks are instantaneous despite the circumstances that bring them together. Unfortunately for Rebecca, Manny is still recovering emotionally from his failed relationship with his best friend Kyle after coming back from their tour in Afghanistan. His resistance is futile as the pull to Rebecca is just too strong, but then Kyle decides that he wants him back as well. Kyle knows he made a huge mistake when he put distance between him and Manny, but his obligations to his family are a huge obstacle in their relationship. When he decides he can’t live without Manny in his life, he finds out that Manny has someone new in his life that he is unwilling to let go.

These three don’t just fall into bed together, and it takes a lot of internal conflict to get them on the same page, which made for even more enjoyable reading. I found MAKE ME to be engaging, emotional, and deliciously steamy, but the one thing I especially loved was that it was not overly sexed as so many in this type of genre tend to be. It had plenty of heated moments between them all, but this was truly a story driven book with a great line up of characters. I am definitely going to recommend it to all you ménage lovers out there.

There was just some stuff that didn't make sense to me in this story. I thought it was going to go a different way. The sex was copious and steamy but sometimes a little too confusing as to who was doing what to who?!?!? Kyle annoyed the hell out of me he seemed wishy washy like his dad.

Make Me is the delightful and romantic story of Rebecca, Manny and Kyle. I’ve read two or three of Alyssa’s books and have relished them all, including this one. I enjoy reading menage stories. I find romantic relationships between three people (or more?) alluring and so sexy, and Alyssa has the chops to craft such plots so enchantingly. Her ability to blend humor, romance, pathos and angst into a very convincing storyline is very satisfying. These three characters, a librarian and two marines, are convincingly real. They’re people you’d want to know. I loved the funny repartee between them.

Make Me, however, is not just a sexy romp (though there was plenty of that kind of steamy fun!). There were also sad and serious moments. I’m very glad the author shed light on some of the discriminating treatment people in same-sex and poly relationships often face. How is it that, in this modern era, humans continue to treat those “different” from themselves so poorly? It’s just one of the many ways hatred still infects our species.

There are a number of Alyssa Turner books yet for me to read. Got a couple waiting on my Kindle and a couple on my TBR list. I can’t wait to dive into those soon. Give Alyssa a try, I think you will absolutely love her work!

MAH LAWD

ok thankfully I found this book that brought me out of my never ending reading slump! I found it while scrolling through my Kindle Unlimited. I am actually so excited to read about other books from Alyssa Turner. The whole premise of this book is how a man, hurt by his lover, a man, found love again after, ironically, found a woman.

Two hot guys who dig each other, check. One sexy woman who captivates them both, check. Ridiculously hot sexy sex scenes that'll leave you breathless, check.

Rebecca Sinclair is in love with her sublet NYC apartment...until she comes home after a few months out of town to find a shirtless god, the grandson of her now deceased landlord, living in her place. Former Marine Manny Tescadero pushes all of her buttons, and when he offers her somewhere to stay while she searches for a new place to call home, the sparks fly between the two of them. Manny had promised himself a 90-day reprieve from any sort of love life, so his lack of control toward this clearly high-maintenance woman leaves him reeling. He's still messed up from the ending of his relationship, such as it was, with fellow Marine Kyle Hunter.

The son of a New York senator, Kyle was mortified when his commanding officer caught him and Manny going at it on the base. He panicked, but now that he's told his parents that he's gay, he's finally ready to claim his man publicly. So he's pretty damn distraught when he finds out Manny is seeing someone else! Until he meets the stunning Rebecca, and none of their lives will never be the same.

MAKE ME has jumped into the top spot on my MMF menagé favorites list with super sexy time, fabulous chemistry, big bad Marines and killer humor and snarky attitudes. But truly, it's the fact that Manny is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan that had me wishing I could meet this delicious specimen at a game and share a Yuengling and a Primanti Bros. sandwich while we wave our Terrible Towels!!

Sorry, I had a mini Yinsplosion there.

Rebecca was a feminine but strong woman, unfazed and endlessly curious about Manny and Kyle's relationship. Manny was just awesome, even without the aforementioned love of all things black and gold, his calm yet stoic demeanor and willingness to talk about his feelings just made me adore him even more. Kyle pissed me off with his inability to stand up to what his steamroller mother wanted for her campaign, but his heart of gold won me over in the end. Ms. Turner's characters have a depth that is both surprising and heartwarming…I desperately want to be BFF's with every one of them!! And in the bedroom (or living room, or beach, or kitchen), the three of them were wildly insane together, their chemistry beyond potent. I'm absolutely drooling to get my hands on Ms. Turner's next book, Swept.

Bottom Line: If you're a fan of MMF reads, do NOT miss this book. MAKE ME is flawless and a definite addition to my "re-read when randy" pile. - See more at: http://glbt.theromancereviews.com/vie...

I love ménage story lines. And Alyssa Turner is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors for a fantastic ménage story. What I love about Alyssa’s books is what they aren’t about. They aren’t all about the sex. Sure, the sex is not only hot but beautifully written- BUT Make Me and Polished are more character driven than most other ménage stories. And her characters are so normal and real with realistic issues and circumstances. I even told Alpha Nerd that I have to sort of remind myself that these are fiction books. They are just so well written and the characters and their dialogue is “real”. I get totally sucked in and invested. Make Me is the love story of two Marines who are trying to repair what they broke between them and along the way they both fall for Rebecca. But it is not an easy road for any of them. But the journey was ABSOLUTELY worth it!

Love every minute spent reading this second chance romance, mmf story. Original storyline, I love how a deceased grandmother/landlady orchestrated a romance for her grandson and tenant.
Throw in a couple Marines and you have a romantic, heartfelt and loving story. Flashbacks to the war added depth and humanity to the story too.
"Tenderness hadn't been what she expected from the two Marines, so full of salt and swagger most of the time."
"The mix of hunger and vulnerability in his eyes made those hazel irises a better mystery than the Bermuda Triangle."
"Kyle made her want to do wicked things, made her think that she could."
Great beach read I am thrilled to have found a new and talented author in Alyssa Turner.

I LOVED this book! This book has so many wonderful qualities, I felt like I could've been reading about a story ripped from the headlines. The storylines & dialogue were incredibly realistic, as well as the subject matter.
The story begins with two best friends, decorated war heroes & secret lovers. Then a saucy archivist for the NYPL gets tossed into the mix. The three partners will be forced to make hard decisions: will they be able to keep their love affair from the public eye, can they overcome their own fears & insecurities to make their relationship work, or will each of them turn away from the hearts desire?

Love without reservations
The heart and soul that Alyssa Turner puts into her books makes my heart sing! The romance between Kyle, Manny and Rebecca isn’t all sunshine and rainbows; they have heaps of public scrutiny and familial disapproval to overcome before they get their happily ever after. I particularly liked the Easter egg at the end, with the tie in to Polished and Swept.

Hmm I’m a little torn on this book. I’m a mega fan of menage so I’m a bit critical of them. They can vary from totally terrible to absolutely amazing, but I’m always looking to try new authors, hoping I stumble upon one who does an absolutely amazing job writing menage. This one was not terrible but it wasn’t amazing either.

This story begins with 2 Marines that have been besties for over 10 years. After serving several tours in Afghanistan together, they realize their love for each other extends beyond friendship. Fast forward a few months after they’ve had a falling out because one of them was not ready to come out in public. One begins dating the nerdy introverted librarian, Rebecca. When they bump into each other unexpectedly, it becomes clear that both men have feelings for Rebecca.

The story was very predictable from the first moment we meet the characters, their character flaws being very pronounced. That made the entire story a little less interesting, tbh. There were also a few characters that seemed to warrant a scene and then dropped completely out of the story, never to be heard from again (like Rebecca’s female co-worker).

But…. This is a menage book and while a story doesn’t hurt, I’m mostly reading it for the high steam factor. Yup, it is a personal preference. So if your looking for a good bit of story and a bit less steamy erotica, this one is for you. It takes place in NYC with lots of local references if that’s something that interests you. The bulk of the story involves a congressional politician throughout their campaign for reelection, and while it’s not an MC (it’s mother of an MC), the main story revolves around this. But honestly if you remove the judgmental public/ voters, there wasn’t much story. These 3 MC spend the entire book completely concerned over what random strangers think of their poly relationship. It takes almost the entire 300 page book for these 3 to get over what strangers think of them. How? They create a motto to live by…who care what others think...”F**k ‘em!” Seems like 2 adult Marines and one very clever librarian shouldn’t need this long to get over what others thought of them since it is a conclusion every adult must reach in their lives. I just felt like these nearly 30 year olds were a bit late to the game, especially involving those they love and can’t live without.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Alyssa is great at writing menage stories. The characters always have distinct personalities and evoke different feelings. In this book we have two Marines who have a relationship as friends and lovers. Kyle is not ready to be public about it because of his political family even though Manny wants it all. Rebecca meets Manny when her housing gets mixed up and their attraction grows. When
Kyle comes to try to salvage his relationship with Manny, there is attraction between him and Rebecca also. All three of them must decide what to do about it. I really enjoyed this book. It was well written with a storyline full of drama, emotions and lots of steam. If you enjoy reading a good bisexual menage then this is the book for you.

It’s complicated, Manny Tescadero and Kyle Hunter are best friends, fellow marine veterans and a bit more… Rebecca Sinclair lands on Manny’s doorstep and there is more than a little something there … Then Kyle enters the picture and … no spoilers here. Alyssa Turner has written a fabulous, emotional love story that kept me riveted from beginning to end. My heart broke for Manny, and at times I really wanted to slap Kyle, (although I completely understood how the pressures of living a “public” life forced some of his decisions). I loved how the relationship between all three builds and grows naturally. Nothing was forced, nothing was rushed, and I throughly enjoyed their journey of self discovery, and their discovery of each other. Fantastic character building, beautiful, realistic easy flowing dialogue, humor, intrigue, and knockout narration make this one a five star listen! I loved it!

6 Stars -- Broken hearts take care and tending to heal
I was pleased with the depth of the characters in this book. I found them to be so complex that I needed to think about their role in the book. The author fleshes out each character so thoroughly and with such great detail that by the time I was finished reading, I knew the players well enough not to want to see the book end.
The storyline was marvelous and entertaining. There was never a dull moment in the story. The many layers of intrigue in the book keep me reading well into the night. I did not want to put the book down until I had found out how the story would end. It was worth the loss of sleep, trust me.
This book has everything that a good book needs to have; angst, lots of steam, laughter, fun, intrigue, love, and an HEA. That all combines to make a good book GREAT!

Awesome Book!!!

I enjoyed reading Make Me!!! All about Rebecca Sinclair a Librarian Curator who is in her mid-twenties living in NYC & Manny Tescadero a retired Marine in his mid-twenties & Kyle Hunter a retired marine in his mid-twenties. Rebecca, Kyle & Manny are in a committed triad relationship! There are many facets to this type of relationship! Read all about how they navigate life!!! The emotions are off the chart in this book, and there are times you will cry and times your toes will curl!! A completely unexpected story, that will keep your attention from page one to the last page!!! This was a new author to me, and I will be reading more of her stuff!!! Enjoy the book!!!

Satisfying

Make Me is a full length , standalone MMF story that it's highly entertaining and satisfying.

This isn't your typical menáge tale , as it's goes deep into the pro and cons of this type of relationship . The plotline is convincing and the narrative engrossing and rousing. This is a hot and sexy book . The main characters that are alluring , passionate and three dimensional; their interactions with each other feel real and natural. Also , the supporting cast characters are well rounded and bring a lot to the central and secondaries plotlines.

This is a enjoyable read.

I really liked this story. It had hot, steamy scenes included in a story that had me consumed to the very end. I appreciate how the characters went through many different emotions especially seeing as how the type of emotions and relationship they were in was new and scary to them. I could not put this book down until the very end because I wanted to know what would happen next. I can't wait to read more stories from this author.
