GHMC to use an infrared road repair system to repair potholed roads

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Thursday adopted latest technology in road repair and promised to make the city free of potholes in next 90 days.

Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar launched ‘Road Doctor’, the infrared road repair system which quickly repairs badly-damaged roads and does away with the need for frequent pothole filling.

The latest equipment repairs a pothole in 20 minutes with minimum traffic disruption and with no wastage or excavation while ensuring smooth and seamless permanent patch.

Addressing the gathering, the Mayor observed that the earlier system of pothole filling was not up to the mark and said the new one would save public money.

The latest technology would be adopted in the entire GHMC jurisdiction and in a span of 90 days, there would not be a single pothole in the city, Mr. Majid Hussain promised.

Mr. Somesh Kumar said with the new system, potholes can be filled even if there is water on the road. Following a suggestion from the Mayor, he said five of these vehicles would be deployed in all the zones.

Nine illegal structures pulled down

The GHMC carried out demolition of unauthorised structures in different parts of the city and pulled down nine illegal constructions in the last three days.

The demolition was taken up at Rock Hills Colony, Champapet, Karmanghat, Kandikal gate, Bada Bazar, Gandhinagar, Hafeezpet and Upparpally, according to a press release.
