Pirates, People and Parties..........

Pirates, People and Parties..........

It’s never boring in the world of BizBuddyHub and its always a mixture of grassroots community initiatives, collaborating with our local BizBuddies and advocating and making the right stakeholder connections as well as joining the dots and sharing knowledge with other grassroots movements in other outer-metro areas who are facing similar challenges.

So the last few weeks have seen us celebrate a community win, in terms of council agreeing to resurrect our Iconic local pirate ship that was sadly burned down by arsonists in 2014 after a long and arduous process.

We are also collaborating with the Kingston Coworking Collective who are keen to create a coworking ecosystem out in the East. It was great to see the Kingston Councillors, Economic Development unit, Mayor and council's strategic team in the room with the Collective working with the locals to help solve the problem. It seems that this is truly an outer metro issue that is arising and definitely a future of work/future of community challenge.

We have also met with LaunchVIC and One10 and our own economic development team recently to join the dots and align the moons and ensuring we are able to find the right partnerships and champions with a shared vision to create a full mixed-use ecosystem and get proof of concept right here in our own postcode.

We don’t only do the high level strategic stuff, we actively support our grassroots members on a daily basis. This includes a Monday accountability session that helps our small biz keep on track and get perspective and support on challenges they are facing and we do our pop up coworking open days once a month at Western Bace and will be launching some open day coworking, co-learning events from local venues shortly.

We don’t just cowork! we have fun too!  We had our first BizBuddy Birthday Bash to celebrate our January BizBuddy birthdays,  a colourful event complete with A #BizBuddyHub cake made by one of our wonderful members Ellen from Frosted Tiers.
