Wests Tigers players have seen over 6000 kids on the Mid North Coast this week, kick-starting the Club’s involvement in the annual NRL Community Carnival.

Dene Halatau, Matt Ballin, Joel Edwards, Bayley Sironen, JJ Felise and Chance Peni spent three days in the Coffs Harbour area visiting schools and attending a number of junior rugby league clinics.

The players split up into three groups and travelled out to 25 schools in three days across Dorrigo, Bellingen, Raleigh Urunga, Nambucca, Woolgoolga, Macksville, Scotts Head, Mullaway, Bowraville, Boambee, Toormina and Coffs Harbour.

The message for primary school children was ‘well-being’, with that particular program covering a number of topics including healthy eating, exercise, hydration and getting the right amount of sleep.

High school students were delivered a different program by the players and development staff - the NRL’s Dream Believe Achieve topic that encourages young people to set goals for their future and strive to reach them.

After school hours, the players were also on hand to help at junior league clinics, encouraging children to get involved in the sport with clinics held at Bellingen, Woolgoolga, Nambucca and Macksville.

While all players were popular amongst the kids, a special mention must go to Sironen and Felise who were on their first ever Community Carnival and made plenty of new admirers in the district.

Wests Tigers will continue its Community Carnival program in local areas over the coming weeks, with the Campbelltown and Leichhardt districts being the focus.
