Volunteer Tessa, behind the Box Office!
Donate your time to support your local cinema…be part of something special!

ABOUT THE CINEMA:

We are your local ‘micro cinema’! We are 100% independent and are staffed by a small team of (paid) managers, and a much larger team of dedicated volunteers.

Although we are small, we aim to be a resource for the whole of our local community. Outside our regular programming we also run community events such as; Refugee film clubs, Talking Pictures, Baby Friendly mornings, Black History Studies screenings, matinees for older people, the Lexi Film School, and much more. We have Q + As with the people who make the films, and we also host discussion groups with the people who watch the films (you!). Our volunteers are absolutely vital to us, and are a big part of everything we do.

…we also give 100% of our distributable profits to charity!

ABOUT THE CHARITY:

The Sustainability Institute is an amazing project in Stellenbosch, South Africa. So far, our donations have gone towards a crèche built from local reclaimed materials (with places for 45 children from the surrounding area), their school for 475 local children, a community cinema, community vegetable garden for research into sustainable farming methods, and much more. Lynedoch is South Africa’s first eco village! South Africa is one of the most unequal societies in the world and it is education which will give the young people of Stellenbosch a better chance in life.
