Markeema Crawford Signs NLI with Tigers

TOWSON, Md.Markeema Crawford has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Towson University women's basketball team for the 2014-15 season, Tiger Head Coach Niki Reid Geckeler announced.

Crawford is a 5-7 guard from Orlando, Fla. who attends Edgewater High School.

“We're really excited to have a proven-winner like Markeema join our Towson Tiger family,” said Reid Geckeler. “She's won three championships at the highly-touted Edgewater H.S. and brings a level of competitive drive and championship mentality to our program. We're excited about the depth and athletic ability she's going to add at the combo guard position and look forward to gaining another scorer to complement our returners.”

Crawford led Edgewater to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) State Championship three times (2013-14, 2012-13, 2011-12). She averaged a career-high 15.9 points per game as a sophomore.

A McDonald's All-America nominee, she is a three-star recruit. Crawford is listed as the 61st best player at her position by ESPN HoopGurlz. Crawford played for the Central Florida Elite AAU team.

She is the daughter of Mark and Marilyn Crawford.

Crawford joins the 2014-15 recruiting class that includes Breonn Hughey, Shanea Butler, Braysia Hicks and Daijha Thomas. The previous four signed with the Tigers in the fall.
