The University of Georgia student found dead in his downtown apartment Thursday has been identified as 22-year-old George Kuei.

His death does not appear to be suspicious, but authorities said they are awaiting autopsy and toxicology test results to determine the cause of death.

Kuei was found deceased in his bedroom at about 5:30 p.m. by roommates at 909 Broad, an apartment and condo building on East Broad Street.

Athens-Clarke County police detectives and forensics personnel responded to the scene, as did Clarke County Coroner Sonny Wilson. Officials said they found no evidence of a struggle or foul play.

The student's body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's State Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy. According to his Facebook page, Kuei was born in Cumming and celebrated a birthday just last week. Also according to his Facebook page, Kuei graduated from Alpharetta High School in 2010, had worked as a receptionist at Evergreen Family Medicine in Norcross, and had been a member of the East Village Campus community board.

A member of UGA's class of 2014, he was studying biology and psychology.
