Description

The proposed program covers nearly a century of Italian secular music, from the mid-sixteenth and mid-seventeenth centuries.

The period is one of the most dense of changes in musical language. The madrigal reached its apex and gradually declines; the affirmation of the basso continuo and the monody induces a capacity pathetic and dramatic of the vocal music and opens the door to the development of opera; instrumental music is emancipated from that voice and it builds its own peculiar repertoire.
