Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday has been added to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which goes to the best player in college football, the Maxwell Football Club announced Wednesday.

NCAA head football coaches, members of the Maxwell Football Club and members of the media vote on the award each season. Halliday is one of 11 players recently added to the watch list “because of their noteworthy play.”

Halliday leads the country in passing yards (3,344), passing touchdowns (28) and passing yards-per-game (477.7).

Cougs-Cats at 3 p.m.

Washington State’s game against No. 16 Arizona in Pullman on Oct. 25 will kick off at 3 p.m., the earliest start time for a Cougars game this season.

All seven of WSU’s previous games have taken place at night, with 5 p.m. starts against Portland State and Utah being the earliest.

Last year, WSU beat Arizona 24-17 in Tucson.

Arizona, one of the most improved teams in college football this season, rose as high as No. 10 in the rankings after beating No. 2 Oregon on the road.

WSU has a bye this week.
