four stars based on the fact that Sydney and Adrien finally hook up. And by book up I mean have sex, in a non moral squishy kind of way with Jill who looks in on the bond. Because Jill is locked out because Adrien man's up and starts taking pills for his mood swings. Wich also cuts him off from spirit, and Jill looking in. Huzzah!! and then they just keep having a lot of sex. It's not described in great detail, but the hook ups they be a hapening. I like that in a novel. In fact it is pretty much at the caliber of a romance novel. not pornographic, but enough touchy feely that you get the point.

So…..plot… I feel like that's the last thing I really focus on in this series, because it's all a little flimsy. And I don't quite care about it as much. Sydney's little sister Zoe shows up at the end of the last book as does a new guardian. New guardian not such a big issue, but little sister in training Alchemist is going a long way to cramp Sydney's style in the romance department. Hence a lot of sneaky sneaky.

We have Sydney solve the ink issue for Marcus, wich is awesome, but mostly a sub plot that I don't really care that much about. Though I do like the implication that they could send in an under cover alchemist to find Sydney. I wonder if they go that route?

We also solve the Strigoi vaccine thing too, wich is cool. But again, beside being a great breakthrough for the vampire community, I don't see how that will work to there advantage in the scheme of finding Sydney.

I feel like the queen has a lot more pull than she is using to find Sydney. I feel like they aren't exactly being honest about the seriousness of the situation, and that now that they have Marcus group, maybe the Alchemists should come crumbling down.

Because I really feel like the bigger picture should be about a new society that is a combination of warriors who kill strigoi, and alchemists who are friendly to moiri. all the tools are in place, we just need to roll them out.

I am excited for the next one. I want to know what happens with Sydney. Does she hold, on our give in? Does she rescue herself, or is she rescued. Did Adrien just go off the deep end at the end of the book, out on a binge? Or will he man up? Will the centre hold? I like books that get to the darker element of human connection, and I feel like this series is going to get there with the next book. My fav book in the VA series was when Rose went to hunt Dimitri. I expect the same moral qualms.
