NAGPUR: How great would it be if your door can update your Facebook status every time you open it? How about just one app to control all the appliances in your house? This is what techies across the world are trying to do through the concept called smart homes. A workshop to be held at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) this weekend will allow participants to peep into this digitized world.

At the start of the college's annual tech fest Axis, the workshop called ?Internet of Things' will be organized in the college's auditorium on August 30 and 31. It will cover concepts like working with Raspberry Pi, GPIOs, Basics of HTML and Python programming languages, setting up a Server, jQuery, AJAX, Automated E-Mails and much more.
"It is all about making homes and cities much smarter and more integrated than we ever thought. The workshop will focus on utilizing cloud computing to connect to the objects around you. This will enable one to have a control over these objects and appliances. This utility can play a big role in avoiding hazards and accidents, among other practical uses," said the coordinator of the workshop Abhay Joshi. He said everyday new uses of cloud computing were being found that only extended the possibilities.
Registrations for the workshop can be done on the official website of Axis or at the college's Students' Activity Centre. For details contact Abhay on 8600751832.
