Update for Schaeffer CityFest in Birmingham: 4 more acts, music schedule, site map, VIP tickets

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Schaeffer Eye Center CityFest has filled out its lineup with four more acts -- Fancy Reagan, Preston Lovinggood, DJ Coco and Dirty Lungs -- and confirmed the music schedule, site map and prices for VIP tickets.

The free festival, set for July 26, is a new incarnation of the former Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil, a trademark event in Birmingham for nearly three decades.

Here are the latest updates for Schaeffer CityFest at Railroad Park, First Avenue South between 14th and 18th streets in Birmingham.

New performers: Pop-rock band Fancy Reagan, singer-songwriter Preston Lovinggood, dance maestro DJ Coco and garage rockers Dirty Lungs have been added to the lineup. (See the photo gallery above for more info.) Previously announced acts are The Roots and Birmingham's two "American Idol" winners, Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard.

Entry points: Three gates open at noon along First Avenue South. The event runs through 11 p.m.; festivalgoers can enter and exit as they please. However, the gates will be checkpoints manned by security guards.

Schedule: Dirty Lungs, 2:10 p.m.; Preston Lovinggood, 3:40 p.m.; DJ Coco, 4:50 p.m.; Ruben Studdard, 6 p.m.; Taylor Hicks, 7:30 p.m.; Fancy Reagan, 8:40 p.m.;  The Roots, 9:40 p.m.

Site plan: The festival footprint includes a single stage at the 14th Street side of the park, children's activities at the 18th Street side, a centrally located artists' corridor, a beer festival overlooking the lake and two VIP areas.

Food trucks: Look for Slice, Melt, Saw's Street Kitchen, Off the Hook, Cantina, Dreamcakes and more on First Avenue South, noon-10 p.m.

Shrimp boil: The Fish Market restaurant and chef George Sarris will have a tent inside the park, offering shrimp, jambalaya, potatoes and corn. Plates are $12.

Beer festival:  Open 3 p.m.-7 p.m., $1 per sample, $6 otherwise. You'll find craft brews from Cahaba Brewing Co., Black Warrior Brewing Co., Fairhope Brewing Co. and more.

Local artists: Booths will be open noon-7 p.m. Exhibitors include John Lytle Wilson, Andrea Dillingham, Max Dawson, Ashley Lindsey and Daisy Winfrey.

VIP tickets: $150, advance sales only. Perks include access to a VIP area at First Avenue South and 15th Street, admission to the VIP viewing area near the stage, food, free samples at the beer festival, private bars and restrooms. Email Schaeffer CityFest to order tickets or ask questions.

OK to bring: Blankets, regular-size backpacks, binoculars, personal cameras.

(Update: Folding chairs can be brought on site, but they cannot be set up within 100 feet of the stage. That's a change to the original "no chairs allowed" policy.)

Contraband: Coolers, picnic baskets, bicycles, umbrellas, skateboards, tents, professional cameras, video cameras, frame backpacks, laser pointers, tents, instruments and glass containers will not be allowed on site. Ditto for pets, except for service animals. Food and beverages cannot be brought in. Weapons are verboten, of course.
