THOMPSON AND PUOPOLO ARE SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICANS

NSCAA Scholar All-America Team
KANSAS CITY-Senior back Jourdan Thompson and senior forward Carmelina Puopolo have added to their impressive inventory of awards for outstanding performances on the pitch and in the classroom. The pair has most recently been recognized as first-team Scholar All-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the second time in their careers.

To be nominated for a Scholar All-America Award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point-average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout her career, start more than 50.0 percent of all games, be a significant contributor to her team, be a junior or above in academic standing at her current institution, and be in her second year at her current school if she is a transfer student.

Two of the most prolific players to ever don a Golden Knights uniform, Puopolo and Thompson guided Saint Rose (21-1-3) to its sixth NCAA Tournament national semifinal appearance within a seven year span this past autumn. The Golden Knights also won 20 games for the seventh consecutive year, during which time they own a .900 winning percentage (151-12-11).

A special education: childhood education major, Puopolo finished second in the country with 51 points and 22 goals this past year. She also led the nation with nine game-winners to go along with seven assists. A central back and communications major, Thompson directed a defensive unit that wound up fifth in the country with a team 0.382 goals-against-average on the strength to 16 shutouts. Saint Rose surrendered a mere 10 goals and 70 corner kicks throughout the season.

Puopolo is the College's all-time leader in all three major offensive categories with 199 points on 73 goals and 53 assists. One of only seven NCAA Division II players to produce 50 goals and 50 assists, Puopolo broke her own school record with her 22 strikes this season. Furthermore, she has twice been honored as the National Player of the Year, has twice been named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team, and is a three-time NSCAA first-team All-American.

Thompson, also a three-time NSCAA first-team All-American, was selected to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Team, and was honored as a Northeast-10 Conference first-team All-League pick as both a junior and senior.
